I’m retired from the insurance industry, married and we live in NW Iowa. My wife is a retired high school registrar. We are finally fullfilling our dream to travel in an RV.
Owned and managed a mobile home park for years. My wife sews, scrapbooks and other crafty things. M
We are newbies and love traveling to new locations.
We have a 2018 Winnebago Sightseer 33C. We have 3 slideouts but can get by with one slideout. We tow a Buick Encave.
Such a neat couple, already with so many experiences to share! We were very glad to have been to host them while they were visiting family. Listening to some of their adventures have really gotten us excited to start making memories of our own! They were very courteous, and we barely knew they were there. They are definitely welcome back any time they'd like!
nice friendly couple helped with my boondockers welcome location while I went on a cruise, welcome them back anytime
It was my pleasure to host this couple. It was a short stay so we didn't get to visit much. They are welcome to stay with me in the future.
Host was very accommodating and helpful at getting parked. Electricity was appreciated after a week of none. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed a quiet night sleep after a long walk around the beautiful surrounding neighborhoods.
The hosts were unavailable to visit, but communications were great!
Title is accurate!
Very restful place to stay.
Host was very gracious.
Be warned you will have to back in a long way if you have a large rig
Super friendly, thoughtful, and helpful getting us next to their shop for the night. We had great views of the farm fields and it was very quiet. We were offered a 50 amp outlet and had a great stay. We would love to return someday even if it's just to say hello.
Very pretty, peaceful place. Hosts were gracious, friendly, and accommodating. We enjoyed sitting on the porch swing, watching the fireflies in the fields. Since our rig was so big, we backed down a short road. Parking was a gravel lot. We used the 50amp as it was very warm. There are gas stations close by and a HyVee grocery store. Yes, there is a train but we didn’t hear it at night. The town has a tornado siren that is tested every evening. Lovely place and would love to come back. ATT & Verizon 4g LTE. 4 bars
There’s an upbeat tranquility to this place. Vary sufficient and host offered to help me level my class C. Nice people.
The hosts were away but guided me to the spot, next to a large garage, and bordering a lovely pasture in back with 4 horses and a donkey, with a corn field next door. 50 A hookup saved the day with AC in this hot weather. I took a walk over to Hills Park and walked a couple miles on the very nice Sheldon Recreational Trail. Everyone I met in Sheldon was very friendly and I enjoyed my 2 night there.
This is a very nice spot to camp. Level area next to shop. 50 amp electrical hookup. Nice and quiet area next to bean field, close to town. Strong Verizon signal. We worked with manager, very helpful and friendly. This is a great place to camp!
We stayed for a night on our way out west. Very quiet and peaceful place. We did not meet the hosts but they maintained good communications. 50 AMP hookup was a bonus. Good Verizon and T-Mobile signal here. We would repeat if in the area.
We were expecting a storm. The host unlocked his metal barn door in the event I need to take shelter, beyound my trailer. Very thoughtful!
The Resting Porch were helpful, accommodating, friendly hosts. Our host met us when we arrived and assisted us in positioning our rig. They told us about the nearby bike trail and the community celebration held that evening. Very nice couple.
This was a very nice place to spent the evening chatting with the hosts and to spend a quiet night. We are always amazed in our conversations to discover so many similar experiences. These kind of memorable evenings are not something that would be experienced in a conventional RV campground.
Wonderful hosts. We arrived and were met by the property manager who helped us park and get set up. A short while later, our hosts came up and we visited for a couple of hours, laughing and taking about life and traveling. I had some electrical issues that we found a work around for. The following morning, the Mrs. Came down to say goodbye and gave me a lovely parting gift. I came as a stranger, but left with new friends. Highly recommend!!!
Our hosts were very kind to let us stay the night at their place. We got a little lost because of our GPS and thankfully our host was quick to answer the phone and waited for us in the driveway. It was so hot and we were grateful for his 30 amp hookup. We also took advantage of their shady resting porch for an hour or so in the late afternoon. We had to leave early in the morning so we didn't get to say goodbye to our hosts but want to thank them for their kindness and generosity for being Boondockers Welcome hosts!
The Resting Porch is the perfect name for this site. Upon arrival, the host and I got two chairs out of his shop and plopped down on the porch for a great talk. I was treated to stories of a wonderful life lived in beautiful Iowa!
The warmhearted greeting, thoughtfulness and laid back demeanor of the hosts was very much appreciated and I'd wholeheartedly recommend anyone passing thru this neck of the woods to stop and stay a night or two.
Thank you Resting Porch for a wonderful stay!
The hosts are very kind, helpful, wonderful people. They checked on us, offered helpful tips and even helped us back the rig in! This was our first stay through Boondockers Welcome and we are leaving feeling very positive and excited about our membership! We highly recommend Resting Porch for a place to rest and recharge on your travels. Bonus: A gorgeous view on one side and horses on the other!
As our first experience on this app, my expectations were exceeded. They were able to accommodate us on a 4 hours notice, and were welcomed with open arms. Spot was peaceful, private, well maintained and it’s also completely level. Felt super safe and the couple is so sweet. Thanks so much!
We're just at a loss for words. Our hosts met us at the driveway like we were long-lost friends or maybe even family. Helped us park and then we all talked. The hospitality is much appreciated but the instant friendship was quite a bonus. We will absolutely stay in touch, see if our paths might cross on the road, hope they will visit us in Florida so we can return the favor. Also, "J" the gift...thank you so very much. I'll put that in a place of honor at home.
Great place to stay! Quiet and level. We have a 41’ 5th wheel and enjoyed our stay.
We would recommend this place to anyone. This was are first boon docking experience and loved it !! We where greeted with open arms. The property was well maintained and away from traffic noise and we felt safe. We look forward to returning if we are in the neighborhood again. Thank you.
Wonderful hosts. Very friendly and welcoming. Had a fun evening of getting to know each other. Would definitely go back again!
They both came out to show the way to the parking spot buy the porch. Also gave us a nice gift bag. They had us over for nice conversation and fresh watermelon! Thank you for your hospitality!
Welcomed with open arms and given nice clean, level and quiet place to park. Good discussions with a great Christian couple with common interests and life experiences. We enjoyed morning coffee and breakfast baking. Definitely an excellent place to overnight!
The property was a quaint little peice of land with a large garage and pretty porch at the end of a quiet street. Nice and peaceful place to stop and rest overnight. The hosts were absolutely wonderful and greeted us warmly with a sweet little gift bag and card. They offered up use of the porch, although, unfortunately the weather was a bit frigid to properly enjoy.
12travel+ were wonderful & gracious hosts. After settling on they came and sat and we visited for a couple of hours. A very fun couple with lots of great stories. The second day Mrs 12travel+ took me into their small town as I needed a few items and don’t tow a vehicle. We got along great and I hope to visit with them again either here or where they winter out west! The horses and one donkey located behind my rig in the morning was a bonus to see. My little dog also loved having a big yard to romp and roll around on! Thank you for having another GREAT host! I can’t say enough good things about the folks I’ve met who have hosted me along my travels this summer! 💕🐶😁
Was greeted by my hosts who were most accommodating. Had a restful stay after a long hot day of road construction and detours. Even presented me with a gift that will remind me of the “Resting Porch “
We were on a three week journey and this was one of the nicest places we stayed. Surrounded by corn on several side provided a soothing sound when the wind blew through the corn. While the corn was close, it was still far enough away to avoid being covered with pollen. This couple puts a lot of work into maintaining a great site.
I had a great stay road the trail again. Our hosts were just excellent. Sheldon is a nice little community. Everyone is friendly in sheldon.
We stayed only one night they were very nice. Would stay ther again sometime.
This was my first experience using BDW and it couldn’t be been better. 12travel+ were very welcoming and accommodating! Would recommend saying hello and spending the night to anyone who finds themselves needing a place to stay. Thank you both for your kindness!
50 amp hookup and topped off our fresh water tank for our 2 night stay. So grateful for hosting my family and I while we travel the country. Sheldon is a cute little town with a pool, skate park and hometown feel. I’d use this host again for future dates.
I really enjoyed my stay at 12 Travels. They are very thoughtful and kind. I was given direction to the bike trails. It was the most amazing trails I have been on. My host were very helpful and kind. We shared many stories together. They are a loving caring couple. The porch was a favorite place for me and my fur baby to rejuvenate and plan our next adventure. I hope to see them again this year.
Exceptional host. Pleasant peaceful location. We had a neighbor camper and she was pleasant as well. Gave us a wonderful gift set to take with us. Would recommend to everyone and would stay there again.
Great place to stay with kids! They have a big patch of grass and picnic table that makes you feel like you have your own front yard. They gave great directions on getting there and he helped my husband back in. We were there for the 4th and people all around us put on a beautiful show. So thankful for this place to rest!
Unfortunately my hosts were out of town. However they had an employee stop by to make sure all was well. I was treated to a neighborhood fireworks show followed by a peaceful night’s sleep. Oh yea...the swing bench on the porch was great and I did find the paved trail that seems to weave throughout the town and bordering fields. Excellent accommodations! Thank you!
Sweet spot for an overnight or two. Hosts are very welcoming. I would stay here again.
Very nice hosts! Helped us park in a nice even spot and then, despite a persistent rain helped to solve an electrical problem. Good conversation. Happy to recommend this location!
12Travel+ are super hosts! Although they had an anniversary dinner engagement they met us on their street to guide us to the correct location. Came back later to visit, we had a great talk. Hopefully they will stop over at our Montana Boondocking location so that we can reciprocate!
My only Issue, and maybe it is just me issue, but there are loud trains in the area. However, they didn’t run on a schedule that had an impact on our sleeping on a Tuesday night.
Nice, quiet location with friendly and helpful hosts. We enjoyed the paved bike path in and around town. We stayed an extra day to enjoy the beautiful weather.
This space was perfect for our quick overnight and would be amazing for a few nights too! 12travel+ was very accommodating and had a nice level spot for us ready when we arrived. Thanks again for everything :)
Nice spot is level, a nice porch to sit on just when you want chill out. If you like to bike there is a nice
bike trail very close. Although we did not meet our Hosts they were very polite and gave us good directions on how to get to their Boondock. If we are ever in that area again we would love the privilege to be able to stay again.
