We visited Nova Scotia a couple of times and that’s when we fell in love with the country and the people. We both’ wanted to do something completely different and having a B&B with a tearoom has always been a wish of us.
So in August 2006 we emigrated from the Netherlands to Nova Scotia to take over a Bed & Breakfast from a former Dutchman.

Maarten is the son of a Dutch baker and worked as a civil engineer for twenty years. During his study he helped his father in the bakery. Now more then twenty years later he goes back to his roots making bread and pastry for his guests to enjoy.

Nelly, the daughter of a Dutch father and a Hungarian mother, is Maarten’s high school sweetheart. First helping in the same bakery, than working in a pharmacy for a couple of years to start working at the same contractor as her husband Maarten after they got married.

Wonderful Boondockers

Maarten & Nelly were an absolute joy to have around. Wish we had longer to visit. Maybe later in Nova Scotia?. Ask them how and where to see their big YouTube debut...

Awesome guests

We really enjoyed Maarten and Nelly's stay with us. They are very friendly, interesting and a fun couple. We enjoyed a few meals together a couple games of Sequence and a nice visit. They got to see a few manatees in the local springs and enjoyed the peacefulness of the Suwannee river. We would welcome them to return.

Our First!

We were most fortunate to have had them stay with us. We cannot think of a better couple to introduce us to Boondocker hosting. Do not let them get away. You will be taken by their conversation. Hope they return!

Charming and adventurous couple!

Nelly and Maarten were a fun couple to have stay with us! We had plenty to chat about, and we admire their sense of adventure in setting off at this time of year in their new ride! Good luck, and safe travels!!

Brave winter visit

Well it’s not quite winter but felt like it as we all woke up to snow during their stay!

Excellent communication and friendly people! Recommend having them visit!

Excellent Guests

Excellent new "Boondockers Welcome" guests. We were lucky to be the first ones to host this lovely couple. Their RV is self contained and they are very friendly and easy going. So glad we had the time to share with Bakerschest. Enjoy your new adventures and hope to hear all about it when you get back to Nova Scotia.
