We are Sheila and Rob, and we live in the 'Greatest Little City in the East' Saint John, New Brunswick with our two dogs: Hope and Daisy. We are recent retirees (from the IT world) but long time RVers. We travel with a 2003 37' Glendale Titanium fifth wheel and a 2002 Ford F250.
On social media (YouTube, Instagram and Facebook), we're known as 'Maritimers Chasing The Sun'!
We are snowbirds, so we do most of our traveling during the winter months. During the summer we usually stick close to home.
We enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities - camping, hiking, cycling, running, swimming, kayaking, gardening... and the occasional running race or triathlon :-)
Rob is a former software developer at our local phone company. Some knowledge in electrical and electronics. Rob is also a bit of a gear-head and has enjoyed tinkering with a variety of cars over the years.
Sheila is a former team lead in the Network Management department of the local phone company. Customer Service and support are what she loved most.
We both enjoy cooking, baking and puttering around in the yard.
Yes, we have two dogs who LOVE to travel! Hope is a Golden Retriever cross who is sweet and gentle, but very shy. Daisy is a 3 year old Plott Hound, a very sweet girl but quite energetic! Sadly, we recently lost 17 year old Kelly, a boxer/lab mix as well as Hope's father, Chance, who was 13.
Both of our dogs are up to date with their vaccinations.
We're nature lovers, so quiet wooded locations are our favourite.
So far, our favourite boondocking spots would be in the DeSoto National Forest (POW site and the Mountain Bike Trailhead) just to the north of Biloxi, MS
Saint John, NB

Though I didn't get to know them, they were quiet and pretty much kept to themselves. They were here a while ago and I thought I left a review for them--apparently i did not. So sorry. I believe it rained most of the time they were her. I promise I did not order it. They are welcome any time
Beautiful weather but unfortunately, the Convir-19 ordeal is forcing people to change their plans.
Maybe one day we'll be up in Canada. You never know!
Come back again.
What fun it was hosting MaritimersChasingTheSun thisweek.
What a wonderful, delightful fun couple to be around. We are so happy they came by for a visit.
Two nights we sat around the campfire and shared stories. It was a fun visiting with them.
This couple is extremely polite, thoughtful and respectful. We highly recommend them, and we are hoping that we get a chance to meet them again in the future.
We are already planning our 2021 summer trip to meet them at their place. 😁
We enjoyed hosting MaritimesChasing TheSun! We fell in love with their sweet dog and missed seeing her leave. Perhaps one day we'll see each again, once we get on road too.
Safe travels to them and their sweet fur babies ❤️
Such great guests! Truly enjoyed our conversations and hope to see them again on the road. Always welcome.
A wonderful couple just passing through. They arrived as it was getting dark so I had a short visit with them. Enjoyed our visit. They are welcome back whenever in the area. Wishing them safe travels.
Rob and Sheila are a very nice couple, they are welcome back any time
We really enjoyed hosting this couple at Candy Cane Corral. We wished we had more time with them but look forward to return LONGER visits. They are so interesting and very appreciative of everything. Their three dogs are so well behaved we hardly knew they were. We wish them Godspeed and safe travels as they return home. Perry, Ginny & Georgia.
Wow, you Canadians are awesome! Actually all my guests have been awesome but there is something special about these two. Wonderful guests, so friendly and polite, a real joy to talk with about RVing and dogs! You won't regret hosting RobAndSheila. Thanks, Jason
Wow! The moment we arrived Rob greeted us with a warm loaf of bread and a thick information package about the area. The boondocking spot has a great view, 15 amp service and water hook up if you need it. We were super comfortable sitting out on the patio which had a table, chairs and a lovely outdoor fireplace. Thanks Sheila and Rob for making us so welcome. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Hosts were gracious, very informative about the area, things to do and see. The welcome package of info and surprise date nut bread (to die for) was absolutely fantastic. Electric and watet was very nice to have as well. Hope to run into them down South this winter. Definitely recommend this boondocker place.
I submitted a glowing reference upon departure from the Lake House in July and don't know why it was never posted. Do not miss the opportunity to stay at this site. The hosts are wonderful people and will do the most to ensure your stay is memorable. Oh, and the bread is delicious!
Don't know why my reference didn't post a month ago. We stopped here on our way back to the US after a tour of Nova Scotia. It is a nice quiet location . Moved their vehicle to make it easier for us to back in our 36' 5th wheel. They have a great set up with electric and water and a small patio with table, chairs and fire pit. Unfortunately the weather was cold and rainy and we didn't get an opportunity to use or visit. Given a welcome packet on arrival and then surprised with a warm crusty loaf of Date Nut bread! Above and beyond for a one night stay. They offered to make room for a second night Wish we could have stayed longer but we were on a tight schedule. Would definitely stay here again to visit St. John's if we make it back to the area. Great Hosts. Thanks!
Great spot and facilities. Generous and helpful hosts. Highly recommended.
Excellent stay. We were met with a package of information on the area. Very quiet and relaxing.
Wow! This spot is nicer than most campground backins. It not only has power and water but a very nice patio with table ,chairs and a fire place with free wood. I did not believe it could get better than this, and then the warm bread arrived. We have now been officially spoiled. Thank-you!!!!!
Our plans changed several times and the Maritimers fielded our adjustments with immediate responses and friendly encouragement. Thanks so much.
Level, easy-to-access gravel parking – check!
Electric and water – check!

Fresh loaf of homemade date-walnut bread – check!
And best of all, lovely hosts who made us feel so welcomed – check!
We were introduce to Maritimers Chasing the Sun through a mutual friend. We had a very relaxing stay. Plenty of room to park. Nice hookup of water and power. The host made us feel very welcome and provided a folder with local information. The gift of warm baked bread topped off the visit. They are very knowledgeable about their travels and gave us lots of great travelling tips. We hope to connect with them again. Many thanks.
Great advice about the area and wonderful bread presented on arrival. The spot was perfect and we hope to see them again for a longer stay at our house or at theirs.
When we arrived we were greeted by Rob with a freshly baked loaf of delicious Walnut Bread and a portfolio with detailed information about Saint John, important Tel #'s and points of interest to visit. The site they provide is fantastic, even has a sitting area with a table, 2 comfortable chairs, a Fire box and lots of wood all Free of charge. The site itself is pretty level and comes with a water connection and a 15 amp electrical outlet. It is so peaceful, feels like you have your own private campground. Rob & Sheila are very friendly and knowledgeable, they are in no way intrusive. We loved their Boondocking site and hope to return some time in the future. We highly recommend their place to stay when in the Saint John area.
A delightful location and gracious host. Easy to find, comfortable setting, with a table, fire ring, and chairs for "us guests." Host greeted us with freshly baked bread, a folder with literature and maps of the St. John area, and just plain friendly conversation. Our only regret is that we could only stay one night!
These amazing hosts offered me everything I could possibly need or want. Fresh bread when I arrived, 15amp hookup, wifi, water, fire pit and wood, lawn chairs and table, suggestions on things to see and do, even a ride to my race in Saint John.
Will definitely stay again if I'm in NB
We so appreciated these hosts who allowed us to stay 8 days as we had mechanical difficulties with our truck. We enjoyed the patio and firepit and really appreciated that they squeezed us in with another boondocker for our first night. They provided a welcome package with local information including RV dumps and such. The location is close to shopping and restaurants. Our hosts were gracious and encouraging, giving many suggestions during our trials with the truck. Lots of birds including an eagle and a loon passed overhead almost daily. A real delight. We can't thank these folks enough!
The MaritimersChasingTheSun are terrific Hosts & now they are good friends!
From the moment that you arrive & Rob hands you his delicious fresh baked bread,
until you leave, this couple attempts to make you feel comfortably at home.
They also give you a folder w local things to do, shop, local churches, etc.
They have a "special" dedicated level spot for your RV to park w a patio area that is
all setup w a table, 4 chairs & a fireplace w wood for you to enjoy a safe fire.
It is a quiet, wonderful neighborhood to walk around in & RV access is not difficult,
especially w their supplied & highly recommended directions.
I believe their motto is enjoy yourself & they can be bribed w ice cream.
I truly enjoyed my stay which went to fast & I would look forward to meeting them again.
A very sincere thanks to both of you!
...including a loaf of Rob's freshly-baked bread. Quiet street, ample room for a large rig (that's me in the picture) and hosts who make you feel at home. With my motor scooter, I was able to easily get into St. John for sightseeing, shipping and lunches. I highly recommend.
Rob welcome us with a warm fresh bread and a lot of informations what to do around. They have create a nice place for the guest. We really enjoy our stay.
The hosts at the lake house provided us with a lovely campsite, and a welcome package with info on all the local tourist attractions and services. There was even a loaf of home baked bread included. Yum!
This was our first time staying with a boondockers welcome host and they really set the bar high. Our host greeted us upon arrival with a freshly baked loaf of bread and a packet of information on the surrounding area! Later, They spent a couple of hours sharing information, answering questions and visiting with us. The space they have created for guests is comfortable and private. Sadly, the weather did not allow is to have a fire in the provided grate and firewood. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Lake House.
We stayed here for one night and this place is just amazing! Rob is a great host and welcomed us with a fresh baked bread. We had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay a lot.
Our short stay with Rob and Sheila was nothing short of exceptional. They were fantastic folks who we enjoyed lengthy conversations with about ours and their travelers. We are looking forward to hosting them in the near future.
Rob/Sheila you guys rock! I considered kidnapping you both for A your baking skills and B for your friendship and Camaraderie. We miss you guys already.
Rob and Sheila welcomed us with a warm fresh baked bread and lots of resources. They made us feel at home not only by our campsite with a fire pit and table and chairs but with conversation and friendliness. We had great conversations and plans to meet up during the winter months. The sunsets were beautiful and they are close to st john and st. Martins.
If you plan to be in the area we highly recommend you stay there.
A lovely quiet spot for the night. Passing through on our way back to USA from Nova Scotia. Had we not had an agenda we would have stayed another night to see St. Joh and enjoy the fireplace in the small patio provided. We're greeted with a folder filled with information on the area then a little later a warm load of date walmut bread - Yum! Water and electric and a bonus of WiFi! Wish the weather had been better and we could have had a fire and conversation. Would definitely come back if in the area.
Maritimers are known for their hospitality and our hosts lived up to that reputation. As a neophite to towing a fifth wheel, our host was very patient with my feeble attempts at backing in and offered much needed assistance. We were greeted with a very helpful welcome package, which included a bun of fresh home made bread. Yum!!!!!! Water and a 15 amp electrical hookup were also provided. We spent two very pleasant nights with this welcoming host. Highly recommended!
