my wife deb n I are both in our 60's and retired from long careers both with the post office.. since we retired in Rapid City SD we have now a second home in Florida where we winter.. we are both professional photographers and we both raised and raced horses in Endurance racing.. 50 and 100 mile races cross country., for over 25 years.. still haul 2 horses to Florida every winter... we both continue to be very active in an assortment of outdoor sports n activities... we travel a lot but not full timers.. we have been in every state and slept in all but 5 for me!... love meeting people and learning from their experiences
my wife and I are very passionate photographers.. I was one for the Navy in the early 70's and have ever since.. we do a lot of portraits, wildlife, landscapes, and a lot of horses! I have also been a jock my whole life and a bodybuilder in my 30's so my skill is I can lift heavy stuff ( still ) and my wifes skill besides looking amazing is she can eat anything and stay slender.. dont u just hate her!
well if horses count, we have 2.. but we dont travel with them all the time... otherwise no pets.. we are dogless for the first time in a lllong time... last 3 dogs were awesome standard poodles
bcuz of our experiences with horses we have learned to look for fairgrounds , rodeo grounds for staying at with or with out horses.. safe, lotsa room, som bathrooms usually free.... other than that the usual---walmarts, stealth city camping , trukstops, nat forests, BLM etc
we consider Rapid City South Dakota our home, although we now have a winter home in Williston Florida.. we are there from November to May....
we travel several ways.. we have a 25 foot (19' deck) gooseneck horse trailer with living quarters, we have a small 5th wheeler the same size and sometimes we just travel in our truck and stay in the topper... the truck is a 2001 blue dodge ram 2500 diesel... 2 wheel drive.... very experienced in handling trailers... backing etc... traveled with horses for 25 years..
This was our first Boondockers Welcome site and are we glad we picked them! The feeling of being with family was so nice. Their conversations were delightful and their overwhelming hospitality was so warming. It was just a pleasure to be here. They have 2 beautiful horses and I am not a horse person so that means a lot.
They invited us to attend a fair with them and sorry to say we had to decline and I am sure it would have been fun. They provided us with water and 30 amps and that was most outstanding. If you need a place to stay, THIS IS THE ONE! Thank you so much for the memories. Hope we get to see you again!
We past 2 days at their place and it's was like home. We bike 21 miles with them in the hilly country side and it's was wonderfull.
Thank you for everything
We recently stayed for 3 nights as a central spot for visiting local springs. The site was flat, very quiet and dark. On our first night we enjoyed a camp fire with 2 other sets of guests and were very generously invited to a lovely dinner with the hosts and friends another night! Paschal also took us out in his kayaks to see manatees and we joined him and Deb for a walk. Overall our stay was full of adventure and fantastic, generous people!
Great welcoming couple , nice rural setting , great campfire tales with a horses in the background . It is what makes boondocking special meeting kind people like Deb and Pascal . Hope we meet again .
We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay with our hosts. We had an awesome campfire with them and their other guests. It’s so enjoyable to meet other folks from all over the world and hear their stories! Great times! Hope to see them all down the road!
When your hosts are such great people that you want to stay longer ..... This is what you will experience staying here. A quiet country location and evenings with friends around the campfire. Camping at its best.
We had a great time at Traveler's Rest, in spite of having some mechanical issues. Paschal and Deb graciously allowed us to stay a little longer than originally planned, until we had it taken care of and could proceed safely.
We had a great time with dinner out, as well as a nice social evening in and good conversations. We enjoyed looking over their photos. Paschal even gave us some great tips on getting better shots with our own camera.
We are really happy to have met this wonderful couple who feel like new friends, and very grateful to have found such a nice, private spot to spend a few days. Plus the area itself is one of the most beautiful in Florida. We loved exploring it!
Though I was there for only 1 night, they made me feel right at home. Offered electrical & water hookup, which I didn't use, but it was SO nice that they offered it. I'm thinking I may just have to come back so I can go kayaking with them!!
We had unexpected events change our travel plans so instead of staying the planned 4 nights, we only stayed 1 night. But it was a very pleasurable time. Great hosts with great stories were very accommodating with many helpful hints for us newcomers to boondocking.
Wow! What wonderful hosts.! We stayed 4 nights and can say we have become good friends - I know we will see again. We spent time visiting, the guys went birding together and they took us to a endurance horse race that they have been part of. That was really cool! And yet we did our own thing when we wanted. Quiet country atmosphere- just wonderful!
Great place to spend some quiet time in the country.
Paschal and Deb were great hosts, helping us get parked and set up.
Perfect location to explore the surrounding area.
We will definitely be back when in the area.
Thanks Paschal and Deb for being awesome hosts.
Paschal & Deb are very friendly and informative. Loved talking with them about their sport. They were kind enough to invite us to a delicious dinner party that was planed with their friends. Loved the very rural setting and hearing the coyotes at night. I definitely recommend this site for a few day visit. Thank You Paschal & Deb.
We've never felt more a part of a Boondockers Welcome host family! Our hosts and we both really enjoy outdoor activities, so they planned a few to help us enjoy the area, including two kayak trips and a bike trip. We were also invited in for a lovely dinner party with their friends. We had a truly memorable time and more have new friends for life! Thanks so much you guys! You're good people :)
This was a great stay- the hosts are super friendly and inviting. Lots of room to pull-thru in the front yard, and hooked up to power at no cost. The location is pretty secluded, but it's quiet and peaceful. Exactly what I needed! :) Would definitely recommend this stay if passing through Florida.
We arrived in the evening to stay for 1 night before making our way up to check out a local spring the next day. The hosts were welcoming and helped direct us where to park so our van would be evened out. We chatted with them for about an hour or so before tucking in to our van for the evening. We had a quiet, rejuvenating night of sleep and let ourselves out the following morning. Beautiful, hidden location - lots of local wildlife around. Would like to return next time we're in the area.
After reading the glowing reviews, we had high expectations for our overnight stay at Travelers Rest and were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed. Pascal invited us to join him for a glass of wine on the back patio while Deb attended to a sick horse. We were regaled us with stories of endurance horse racing and shown their photography portfolio. What an interesting couple! The property itself was quiet and we had a very relaxing night. We definitely will be back!
Enjoyed my one night. Went to dinner with hosts, their friends, and another boondocker. Very friendly. Good spot put away from everything.
Pascal and Debbie were wonderful & friendly hosts.
They invited us out to the back deck for some conversation and we had a great time looking at their photography of horses and stuff, they are very good photographers and loved looking at their portfolios. Thank you for everything
Love ❤️ these hosts. Deb even invited me to join her horselady’s night out on the town.
I spent a lot of time looking through their gorgeous photography.
Thanks Deb and Pascal.
We very much enjoyed our stay here! We ended up arriving on Thanksgiving and our hosts graciously invited us to dinner with thier friends :) We had a nice evening along with some other boondockers who'd arrived as well. The location was very quiet and peaceful. We appreciated the good balance between conversations with our hosts, and plenty of privacy to ourselves. We are glad to have found this spot!
We spent one night in this quiet and peaceful horse farm area of rural Florida. The hosts have two beautiful horses and their home is off any main road, so really great for stargazing. We slept well and travelled on the next day although we were invited for Thanksgiving dinner! The hosts are friendly and interesting people...just wish we had stayed a little longer. You can definitely take day trips to springs and Cedar Key. That’s worth a trip. Hope to be back soon...maybe on our way back north. Many thanks 😀😀
This was our first time as BoondockersWelcome guests, and these hosts far exceeded our expectations!
We were welcomed warmly, and given a nice, partially shaded spot with an electrical hookup. Our hosts were even kind enough to invite us in for Thanksgiving dinner!
We would highly recommend these hosts, and would stay again in a heartbeat!
Thanks, sodakryder! :-)
Paschal and Debbie were really friendly, welcoming and helpful! We had an excellent stay at their place and they helped us a lot in everything that we were planning/doing. I highly recommend these host if you visit Rapid City area. Thanks again for everything!
