Charlie and Meghan are both writers, both went to film school, and both write TV and film scripts now. Meghan also does public speaking on a variety of topics. We started researching RVing in the spring/summer of 2017, bought our "learner" RV in February 2018, practice camped several times near Kansas City in February and March, then set out on the road in April. So far, we've toured Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and North Carolina, mostly starting by visiting family members and close friends and exploring their areas of the country.
We have fallen in love with RVing, have put our things in storage, have started home schooling our children, and we are now arranging to buy our "permanent" RV and tow vehicle. We plan to travel the country, meet even more great people, and continue learning about the world we live in and finding new experiences in it. One day we'll settle back down in a new house in south Overland Park, but for now we're enjoying the freedom and wide open possibilities of traveling.
Charlie grew up on a farm, worked in construction through the carpenters union in Los Angeles while learning how to make movies, and has worked in video production and independent film extensively. Meghan has worked in video production in several key capacities, learned a lot about marketing and building business success, and loves public speaking.
We have a female Golden Doodle named Caroline who was born in Mountainburg, Arkansas. Making two trips from Overland Park, KS down to stay in Eureka Springs to choose and then later pick up our puppy, among other experiences, led us to start researching RVing as a family.
She is the perfect travel dog for our family. If we want to hike through mountains and go go go one day, she'll keep up and love it. If we need her to be lazy in the RV for the day, she'll gladly do that. She's always a great conversation starter, loves all people and other animals, and lets our little boys climb all over her and play with her endlessly.
We've been mostly in RV resorts up to now. We've researched boondocking a lot and now would like to head out west to explore it more.
Charlie grew up in Weston, MO. Meghan grew up in Overland Park, KS. They now call Overland Park home. The ratio of quality of life-to-cost of living beats any other city we've ever seen. Quick access to endless shopping options and other modern conveniences along with low crime and generally happy people makes it a tough home base to ever replace. We plan to buy land near Charlie's home town soon.
We are new to RVing this summer and started with a travel trailer that we knew would be a learning rig and wouldn't cost us an arm and a leg to upgrade from once we learned what we wanted in a rig. We are currently arranging to buy a Coachmen Chaparral 373MBRB (a 42 foot 3 bedroom, 2 full bath 5th wheel) and a 1 ton Denali with crew cab to pull it.
