We have been married since 1978 and have three grown kids.
Ray worked for the BNSF Railway for forty years. He loves pretty much anything out doorsy.
Val is an avid spinner, knitter, weaver, dyer who has a way with animals.
We travel with two well behaved mixed breed dogs.
Black Forest is where we call home. It is an unincorporated area just north of Colorado Springs. We have lived on the same property since 1986 and we feel very fortunate to call this home.

Well what a great time DUKE and I had with these amazing hosts. The very next day after I arrived their family invited us to our first off roading adventure. They were even so kind as to allow to spend a few extra days with them. The home is just as beautiful as their hearts. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and can only hope we get to visit them again. Thank you for all of kindness, I can tell DUKE already wishes we never left.
Thanks again to our host for being flexible and accepting a last minute stay. We had to get away from the snow. We are grateful for the fast response to our request and extended stay. Our dog enjoyed playing ball off leash in their front yard. We also received great directions of places to visit and things to do from our host.
Wonderful, quiet, out in the country place to spend the night with views of Pikes Peak and llamas in the pasture next to our rig. Our host was super nice and very, very helpful with area highlights and restaurants etc. It is a very quite and beautiful spot, and the roads getting here were well maintained and wide. We would enjoy seeing our hosts in Michigan sometime.
Enjoyed our stay. Very peaceful location. Host was very accommodating. Looking forward to staying there again.
Quiet and peaceful. Beautiful scenery. Host was very helpful with tips for us to see the local attractions. We found we were both 4x4 offroad enthusiasts. We highly recommend staying here if your in the area.
Easy and comfortable place to park next to a barn and llamas. Incredible view of Pike’s Peak and within 10-15 minutes of restaurants, gas station, etc. 30 minutes to Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods. We cannot day enough about our host, Ray! What a delightful man. He knows the area so well and can recommend great places! He is friendly, happy, helpful and just a pleasure to be around!
RayYoung hosted us when we were in an awkward travel situation. Wonderful couple. Stayed overlooking their Llamas, who were very friendly, with a fantastic view of Pikes Peak. This is definitely a get away from it all spot that we would highly recommend. Thank you once again to you both for everything.
My husband and I stayed on their property for two nights in October. We were greeted with a warm smile and he helped my husband get set up. It was pretty darn cold out so they were kind enough to let us share some of their power to heat our motorhome. All in all, it was a quick stay but very peaceful. We especially enjoyed looking out our windows at the llamas in the morning.
We really enjoyed our stay with Ray and Val. Ray was there to meet us and show us where to set up. They have about 6 llamas and it was awesome being close to them, they are very curious and friendly. The views and sunsets were spectacular! Ray gave us great suggestions on places to visit and they did not disappoint. He’s very knowledgeable of the area and we really enjoyed his company and conversation! We’re hoping if they ever come to the Northwest, they will come and stay with us. Thanks Again Ray and Val!
