We are looking forward to retirement years and traveling lots. In the meantime, we'd like to open our Christmas Tree Farm to boondockers in the hopes of helping others, as well as meeting other RVers.
We raise Christmas Trees, honeybees and enjoy geocaching. We have raised Christmas Trees for the past 10 years, and are now winding down with maybe 1 year left. We began raising honeybees when we owned a Pumpkin Patch, but were so fascinated with the bees (not to mention the delicious honey!) that we moved our bees to the tree farm. Doug grew up farming, running John Deere equipment and raising corn & soybeans.
We have a small dog (part Bichon Frise / part Shi-Tzu). He is only outside when he is on a leash with us.
Doug retired in 2019. We were unable to travel at all last year, but hosted many RVers and loved visiting with each one of them! We have 2 trips (a couple weeks each) planned this year, but hope to do several mini-vacations as well.

Doug and Sue were awesome guests. We enjoyed visiting with them a number of times while they were here and would love having them back again. Looking forward to using their Boondockers site in the future.
Couple was great at keeping us up to date with their projected ETA, as Chicago traffic surprised them. Easy set up and had fun talking about rigs, trips we've taken and just getting to know each other. They are welcome back Anytime!
Wonderful spot, very friendly and helpful hosts. Would live to see them again!
Oh how we wish we had not been time limited and en route to MI because we SO would have liked to saty longer at this wonderful site! Not only were our hosts the ULTIMATE in helpfulness and warmth but their site was BLISSFULLY quiet last night (no coyotes), our site was level and shaded (after they pointed out that we could park under the trees. We had a problem with our LP refrigerator that our host helped with suggestions of local places but it resolved itself and we were fine. One note-if you are heading eat to stop here, get gas in IA and if you are Costco members, even better, go there. It's only another 1/2 hour. Conversely, if you are heading west wait until you cross the state line. Sorry IL but a 40 cents/gl difference is too much in a MH.
Oh yeah, there is a wonderful farm adjacent to this property where in season you can pick produce. We missed sweet corn season but I picked raspberries and opted to have cereal with raspberries for both dinner and breakfast. YUM!
And we've met a few hosts who have information books for their guests but none so complete as this. Thank you!!!! I'm stealing some of your ideas for ours. :-)
We had a great stay with these folks. There was also another couple staying there and we all had a great evening with the hosts on their porch. Delightful conversation. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
VtreeFarm met us to gives us a warm welcome and give us all the instructions about the farm and area. Had a blast visiting that evening and would recommend for a stop over. Thanks guys!
We enjoyed our visit with Doug and Sue at their property. They had a great notebook of local places to explore. We wish we had more time to check out some of those places. We might have to plan other trip to this area. If we do, we hope to visit them again.
If you’re lucky enough you have fresh picked corn, fresh raspberries, and raw honey what a treat. Always A pleasure to stay it’s become my home away from home traveling to and from thank you for your hospitality
What a nice way to sleep. Fresh rain on a Christmas tree farm. I enjoyed the cool night air. This will become our regular stop from now on. Be sure to Grab some sweet corn Freshly picked. It was so sweet I ate it raw.
On arrival, I was handed a binder with great information about the area places to eat etc. Well organized host. Very gracious I will be returning.
This was our second time here and I can't say enough about how friendly and accommodating Doug and Sue are to their guests. Our visits with them are to short, we will plan a trip back where we can stay a few days and enjoy the area. Sue puts together a booklet of all the things to see and do in Geneseo.
See you down the road, enjoy the ride!
Wonderful experience at Voltz Tree farm. Hosts super friendly with a wealth of information about the local area. Peaceful, quiet setting. Would happily stay again. Thank you so very much!
What super nice hosts, and wide-open spaces with grass and trees. And so quiet that we slept fantastically!! THANKS AGAIN!!
Even the heat and humidity couldn’t make this a bad night. Wonderful host accommodating and friendly gracious set on a spacious old Christmas tree farm a wonderful breeze I Actually slept with my side doors open. I’m glad I found it I drive that stretch quite often so this will be a come a regular stop for me thank you
What an absolutely peaceful stay! Thank you Sue and Doug for sharing your beautiful farm, home, hospitality and care! And Bently too! I only wished I could have stayed longer and taken advantage of all the awesome stiff in that magical binder!- as well ad get to know you awesome folks better!! (But what a recharge on my cross country trek-
so much gratitude!)
Such a beautiful location and so peaceful and quiet. Our host was so amazingly prepared, with a binder and emergency plan, and phone numbers and area restaurants etc. His attention to detail made me want to be more helpful as a host myself!!
The hosts at vtreefarm were wonderful, so welcoming and informative. Pleasant, relaxing place to stay. Would highly recommend staying here if in the area. If we’re ever back out in this area again, we will definitely stay here if available.
The peoples very friendly. Nice welcome, advised us on places to visit. I recommend them.
We drove to the end of the road and dropped down a gentle slop to the most amazing expansive, grassy field with evergreen trees. Our hosts welcomed us as we drove in. They had a whole book of things to do, restaurant menus and particulars of their charming historic town. We wished we had more time to explore. After we were settled we were able to stroll by moon light on a mowed path (a little short of a mile) around their property. Just a little piece if heaven. Don't miss this experience.
I stayed at the vtreefarm for 2 nights in the midst of a cross-country trip and it was a beautiful farm setting. The hosts are so inviting and kind, they made me feel quite welcome. The town of Geneseo is a short drive, and very easy to access Interstate 80. I enjoyed my conversations with Doug about his farming and beekeeping work - very nice to meet someone who is cultivating the land in such a fascinating way. I hope I can get back to vtreefarm in the future and spend a bit more time exploring the area.
We had an amazing stay at the Voltz Tree Farm. We arrived later than we anticipated but Doug and Sue were so accommodating. They welcomed us, we had a great visit and even learned a little about the geocaching world! Thank you both so much for making the start of our adventures so memorable. We will definitely stop by again when we are in the area.
This is a gorgeous place with plenty of room, a Serene setting, and wonderful hosts! I so enjoyed chatting with our host as a large thunderstorm rolled through. It was wild and beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed exchanging stories about our travels and I hope we run into them again in our travels!
WOW! What a great time we had at the Voltz Tree Farm. Doug and Sue were amazing hosts and had so many wonderful recommendations of places to visit during our short stay! We visited the John Deere Pavilion and the Children's Museum. Doug was so much fun to get to talk to and really interacted with our kids and let them learn about what he does on the farm! He gave them tractor rides and even showed us his bees he is getting ready to transfer into hives. This is our second Boondockers Welcome location to stay at. Thank you Doug and Sue for your hospitality.
Thanks!

Doug and Sue were so warm and friendly. When we got settled they gave us a book of things to do in the area as well as shared their travel stories. Great place to spend the night. Doug invited us to go with him to a pilot's meeting where they would also be talking about Alaska we didn't go but thought the offer was wonderful. The town of geneseo had a great local theater we went to and saw a funny play there. If you are in the area stay with Doug and sue.
We stayed over one night and it was a nice respite after driving. Quiet and inviting to be out and around the trees. Our hosts were very friendly and enjoyable to meet before we hunkered down for dinner. Bring your bug spray if you're there when it's been raining. Definitely would stay again!
I had a nice hour chat with Doug after getting setup. Both Doug and Sue are wonderful people and I thoroughly enjoyed my brief stay. I walked the property which was beautiful. I would stay here again if the opportunity arose.
Lovely property, convenient location and super friendly and thoughtful hosts! They called us before our arrival to warn us of the low train bridge in the center of town that Google had us routed straight for. The farm has lots of level area to turn around and park. Very quiet with occasional wildlife sounds. Fabulous stay!
Sue and Doug are wonderful and very accommodating. Their property is a Christmas Tree Farm and the setting is beautiful. You are parking on grass and overlooking the trees. The parking is hard ground and very level and can accommodate any size rig. I will differently come this way again because now I have friends in Illinois.
Thank You for becoming a Boondockers Welcome Host, safe travels.
Beth And Doug
We had a very nice stay between the xmas trees and the hosts are extremely nice.
We had a lovely stay. Thanks again.
