We are both retired from middle management occupations in the oil industy.I also owned a small general contractor bussiness which I sold when I retired. We love to travel in our 5th wheel & have made two trips to the west coast & back lasting 2 months roundtrip. I go to 2 - 3 Nascar races a year with the fiver.
I am a general contractor, also plumbing, electrician, & general design. She is an accountant & business manager, interior designer & a great cook. In 2021 we started a new bussiness " WOODY'S MOBILE RV SERVICE" I now come to you to make repairs to your RV.
Yes 2 cats
Walmarts only because they are quick & easy & of course free. We have never used Boondockers yet as guest but that is about to change as of 2018 when we plan on hitting the road.
2016 34' Forest River Sabre triple slide towed with a Ram 2500 Diesel Crew Cab short bed.
Such a wonderful stay with Woodpecker and Hootowl. Would stay here anytime
I’m passing through. A treat to receive dinner and enjoy great conversation while relaxing on the porch. They both made me feel at home. Thanks again!!!
For those travelling and working…had T-Mobile and ATT service, 2-3 bars. Was able to work, no problem.
My favorite place so far! These hosts were warm, welcoming, and genuinely good people. They have a wealth of knowledge about RVing and gave me some great tips. As a new RVer, I really appreciated that. We had some interesting conversations but they also gave me space so I could get fully rested. The spot itself was easy to get in and out of, and the husband even came down to the end of the driveway as I pulled up to make sure I didn't miss the turn, then guided me into the space. It was really nice to have electric, water, AND sewer right next to my TT as well. There was a little traffic noise from the busy road the house is on but it didn't bother me. I slept like a baby. I'll definitely stay there again if I'm in the area!
Didn't know what to expect since this was our 1st time boondocking. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Would not hesitate to stay with them again!
We had an excellent time visiting the area. Thanks to Camp Woodpecker for the awesome hospitality and help!
Camp Woodpecker was convenient and easy. Great conversation and gracious host. Thanks!
Woodpecker and Hootowl are great hosts. The site is just out of town enough to be country and close enough to get supplies if needed. Having water, shore power and waste dump made it great way to start out on our return trip. Couldn’t ask for better hosts. If you get to stay there, and their 5th wheel is still there have them show you the tile work that Hootowl did in the camper. Very well done.
A very nice spot with electrical and water hookup + dump station.
We stayed two nights while visiting state parks in the surrounding area.
Hosts were very friendly and helpful during our stay. Thanks!
We had a great night there at their place. Lots of help setting up. They are an incredible couple and we enjoyed the time we spend socializing and sharing travel adventure stories . We all enjoyed the great dessert they made us.
If we are ever in the area or know where they may be staying on their travels we would certainly try to get together.
Sorry for the delayed posting. Been a busy day trying to make the next stop. Had a wonderful stay at camp woodpecker. Great chat with hosts we will be back as we travel through. Thanks again.
We stayed two nights while visiting state parks in the surrounding area. Woodpecker and hootowl are the most gracious and friendly people we have met. They made us feel very welcome. The site has full hookup with electricity, water and even a dumping station. They helped us with setting up the first night we arrived and checked on us the second night. He also helped us with packing up before leaving. We would love to stay here again if the opportunity comes.
We really enjoyed the friendly and welcoming hosts! They were very attentive and friendly making sure that we were very comfortable staying in their property.
It's nice that they have sewer on site if you need to use it.
She was so sweet and even brought us cookies. The kids were thrilled.
We had some great conversations. We highly recommend this spot
These are good folks. Both were very welcoming and went out of their way to accommodate me. Don’t go if you have kids expecting a playground. It hasn’t been a top priority for Woodpecker. Go for the hospitality instead. The space was just right for me but my rig is only 21 feet. There is water, electric and sewer offered.
As I was getting things ready to leave, Woodpecker insisted on checking my tire pressure because something didn’t look right to him. Turns out I had a big problem but he helped me solve it. I went to the tire place he recommended and they fixed me right up. No charge! The stem to my inner tire was bad and had caused air to leak completely out of that tire. Possible disaster avoided because of this nice man. Thank you again!
This was my first opportunity to be a guest and Woodpecker and Hootowl were very gracious hosts. Had a good time chatting with them and the spot was very quiet and peaceful. A++ from the retired teacher!
The current set up is a little tight to get into but, Woodpecker says he is making some upgrades soon and I'm sure he will. We arrived early afternoon Woodpecker helped us get set up. Introduced ourselves then we ate a late lunch and took a little nap. Afterwards Woodpecker gave me some good rv advice (I'm new at this) and a better way to get through the city of Dayton. Enjoyed our conversation and hope to see him and Hootowl again.
This site is a little tight for our 29 foot fifth wheel and long bed pickup but once backed in was mostly level and had full hookups. Site is easy for motorhome. Site is partial shaded. Parking is short drive from downtown with a great variety of shopping and eating choices. Pilot and other fuel sources are also available.
Hosts were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. Had a quiet restful night.
Would stay here again when in the area and recommend for other travelers.
We stayed in Jan. 2016. We were well received by a charming couple. It's a safe and quiet place.
These hosts have a wealth of knowledge of the area, including where to find the least expensive fuel. Very accommodating, comfortable, restful stop. We hope to visit again if in that part of Ohio. Hope we can return the favor if they come our way.
My wife and I were traveling from PEI, Canada, to winter in southern Mississippi in Jan. 2013. One of our boondocking experiences was with Woodpecker and Hootowl. It was getting dark, so we drove past their place before Woodpecker caught up with us. We had a fine stay w/them. They provided sewer, water, and electric, moving their rig from their normal site to make room for ours. Woodpecker told a great story about his purchase of his rig. They were very gracious hosts and provided a restful site for the night. We certainly recommend their site.
