We have been retired for a couple years now and have adjusted pretty well....lol! We have planned longer trips venturing further from home. This summer we will be working at a KOA in Utah and are very excited!!
We love the mountains and the ocean, hiking, kayaking, playing music, meeting new people and seeing places.
We were tent campers till 2014 when we bought our first RV. We have all kinds of experiences, interests and talents (but experts...no)!
We continue to learn how to conserve our resources when in a place with no services and have now purchased 2 solar panels to cut down on generator use (and save gas)!
We travel with our two awesome dogs who are both 11 years old rescues and our elderly cat! Our dogs have had obedience training classes and are great with people and interact well with children (we have 6 grandchildren and the love is mutual). Duke is a pitbull mix who is trained as a therapy dog and has a good citizen certificate. He has volunteered in programs at an assisted living facility and in a group therapy program with children. Dottie is a gentle terrier mix who loves your attention! Google our cat now travels with us as he is too old to leave home....he stays in the motorhome at all times and watches the great outdoors from inside - quite content.
We boondocked in 2019 with a nice gentleman on the Suwannee River and had a great time with an invite from him and his relatives and friends to dinner and playing music. Our second request was cancelled as the family was flooded.
In 2020 we boondocked on a farm in Florida for only a night but met the lovely owners and another couple camping that we are now in contact with!
Our home town is outside of Saugerties New York (between the villages of Saugerties and Woodstock). We live pretty rural (one lane dirt road) and enjoy the privacy and nature around us. When not traveling we like to be with our children, grandchildren and friends. We are active in our church communities. Gary plays music (guitar and mandolin) while Susan STILL tries to learn the banjo. We both like to read and since being retired, have a list of places around home to explore! It is true that we seem busier now than when we worked however its more relaxed busy!!
We have a 2013 Winnebago Adventurer with 3 slides. Depending on our destination/activities we tow either a Fiat or a Jeep Wrangler.
We enjoyed having them as our guests for a night as they traveled west. Have to say they have the two most well behaved, gentle dogs we have seen. You all are welcome to come back anytime!
Due to commentments didn’t,t get to spend much time with them but what little time I did I enjoyed there company. They are welcome back any time.
