We are www.teachersonhiatus.com. We decided to sell everything, buy a small travel trailer, and explore the world for a little while. We are really excited about meeting new people by boondocking as much as possible.
We are both teachers (English and Special Education), but also avid outdoorspeople. We have thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail and will be traveling with all our outdoor gear (kayaks, bikes, climbing gear, tennis rackets, and roller skates.)
We will have our dog Chocolate Chip with us between August and October in the northern states. He is a 9 year old German Shorthaired Pointer who is well trained and super chill. He obeys command s well and stays close to us. He is sweet and loves people.
We have a Hi-Lo Towlite 17T. It is 17 feet long and is self-contained. It's like a hard top pop up. We are towing it with a Toyota 4Runner.
Our guests are totally living the dream and were an absolute pleasure to host!! On a 3 year “hiatus” from their teaching jobs, they are spending their time rving, hiking, kayaking, and exploring the world! We felt such a great vibe from their positivity and “can do” attitude from them. We wish them the very best in their endeavors! They are more than welcome to come back and stay with us!
Unfortunately due to family obligations and just an overnight stay we were unable to meet teachersonhiatus. They communicated well and were quiet. We really would have loved to have met them. Wishing them safe travels on there journey. They are welcome back anytime.
The title says it all, they were great guest, just here over night one night, and are welcome back any time. I just wish we would have had better weather for them to see the town during their stay.
What a fascinating couple to have hosted here at Rascal Ranch. Having them over for an evening of conversation was a real joy, as I learned more about their extended travels to date, and their future travel plans also. Very happy to have been a small part of their interim retirement spree. Safe and happy travels to you both! :)
One Cant go wrong meeting these folks. The kinda folks you hope to see again.
Jerry got to meet this wonderful adventurous couple, I was laid up and was so sad I didn't get to meet them. Jerry said they were great to talk with and they were so quiet, I didn't even hear them leave early next day. I hope you two continued good weather for your awesome adventure. They could stay here anytime, nice people.
Friends made right from the start. We had fun with them and our other Boondockers at a sphagetti dinner on the deck at dusk enjoying the sunset and lake. I would definitely have them back anytime.
Glad to have the teachers! Hope you are enjoying your travels. Great couple!
I just found that I/We never left a reference for teachersonhiatus. My apologies to a Great couple. I hope they return someday and spend more time.
A fantastic couple and a pleasure hosting them. OMG! I loved hearing their travel stories and not just in the US but all over the world. Safe travels Melissa and Rubin!!
We where off to a wedding so we didn't get to meet these guests but we did have other campers help them set up and they informed me they where great guests, Maybe we will meet on your next visit
Chip is a great dog! His humans were ok too. Just kidding, they were all great! Friendly, easy guests (they didn't even want to plug in to power or water), no fuss, no muss. We had a couple enjoyable chats between their excursions in the area. They are welcome back any time.
Pleasant young couple and very well mannered dog, would have them back anytime.
