Country boy from Ohio transplanted to the Jersey Shore. Married last year to a woman who loves to travel. We just need more time to do it!
We have two pets, a 14 year old Dachsund that goes to the office with me everyday, and an 11 year old pug. We also watch our daughter's Lab pup a lot of the time.
Barnegat is a quaint old town on the mainland of the Jersey Shore about 30 miles north of Atlantic City. It offers a lot of the small town charm with antique shopping, fishing, crabbing and boating. Beautiul beaches of Long Beach Island are a short drive away, as are the boardwalks of Seaside Heights and its summer excitement. The casinos of Atlantic City are about 45 minutes away, and you can be in Philadelphia or New York in and hour and a half. It's a home town that offers a great life.
Wonderful place! Easy access from main road. Nice parking lot with space to maneuver. There is a picnic table on a grass lot, surrounded by woods and even has 15 amp electric service. Pet friendly. Bike trail across the street.
Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Very nice to have a bit of lawn, power and picnic table to call home for the night. We got weathered out, but this host location is ideal for exploring Jersey Shores.
I feel terrible!! I thought I had already entered this reference!!!
This was one of the most enjoyable places to stay! I thought is might feel like parking at Walmart or something because it's a business -- boy was I wrong. It was a really lovely location!! Once you get situated at the bottom portion of the parking lot, you are facing a grassy area with woods on the other side. They provided a picnic table too!! Our hosts buck2th78 and his lovely wife both came down and met us and chatted a bit. We were given lots of good ideas of things to do and places to visit. Our host noticed we had bikes on our truck and suggested a bike path close by - which we took advantage of.
We have a large (40') fifth wheel and didn't have any trouble getting in, however when we left, we needed to do a "10 point turn" to get out, so if you have a large RV, you might want to leave early in the morning before staff cars arrive, or on a day they aren't open, so you have some moving room. But, don't let this discourage you, it was very do-able - we're pretty new to fifth wheeling with such a large rig and we did fine.
Thank you so much buck2th78, we are so happy we stayed here and will again when up east visiting our family!! (sorry for the delayed review)
This was my first time utilizing a host for lodging with 'Boondockers Welcome'.
I couldn't have picked a better first time experience. The site was well set up, clean, with a picnic table facing the wood, so it gives a sense of privacy. Power and water available. This is a single building sized business, right off hwy, easy to find and park. Excellent lighting for late arrivals. The upstairs of the building is an apartment (so even though your private there is someone nearby which is kind of reassuring for me anyway I'm a single senior driving my RV independently with a dog for company). It gave me an extra sense of safety. I liked it so much he graciously granted me an extra night stay.
The host checked up on me, by text, the day I got in to make sure everything was all right and he quickly answered any questions I had. What a gem!
I had a nice drive over to the Barnegat Lighthouse on Long Beach Island, which is about 10 minutes away and that's a free state park. Also across the highway behind the American Legion is the Barnegat bike trail an excellent railroad grade turned into a public access trail a total of 7 miles (I believe).
Wonderful hosts and location! At 40’ and a toad we don’t fit in many BW locations but this one was a perfect fit for our stop in Barnegat, NJ. Our hosts were very friendly and provided excellent communication on the location and the area. Thank you so much for a wonderful location and stay!
Fell in love with this small Jersey town of Barnegat. Others have accurately described this great location. Drive to LBI and park at Harvey Cedars (big water tower)- turn left after you cross the bridge onto LBI. Beautiful bayfront park with free parking and restrooms. Then bike the 5 miles North to Barnegat Light and have lunch at the Inlet Deli.
(Found out as I was getting ready to leave that the Barnegat Trail (Biking) is just across the road from the site.
In this often mean, cruel world, it is inspiring (to say the least) when someone opens up their place of business to strangers and rolls out the welcome mat.
We stayed one night and appreciated the wonderful accommodations and easy access to the Long Beach Island beaches. We loved biking on the Barnegat Branch Rail Trail located across the street from this host. We bike to Sweet Genny’s for a delicious lunch. This host provides a wonderful 15 amp hookup and water to fill your tank. The space is flat and so easy to find. The host communicated with us on a very timely basis and in a very warm manner. The host specified that in lieu of a gift for our stay he would prefer that we make a donation to a charity. So, we will donate to our local animal rescue center. This was only our second stay with a BoondockersWelcome.com host. We continue to be so grateful for the hosts’ generosity.
This guy has a great spot, with electric and water on site. Wifi works good. Trash dumpster on site. He's very organized.
Thank you to Bayside Boondocking for a most excellent stay! We spent two nights here; after a long, grueling drive, arriving here to find plenty of space for our rig and Jeep a well lot parking area, grassy yard for our dog, a picnic table and 15amp service was amazing. Our thoughtful and generous hosts left a note for us with very detailed instructions and information on local spots! They requested we donate to our favorite charity which is another example of their generous spirits. We spent the day at the Jersey shore exploring the 18 mile strip of Long Beach Island and all the little communities there. All very close by! We look forward to returning! :)
The lot is shortly off the main road, surrounded by trees. We had the open, grassy area and picnic table to ourselves, and the lot was well lit at night. Our host greeted us cheerfully, provided info on local amenities, and left us to get set up. Echoing another reviewer, we loved his idea to donate to a charity in lieu of leaving a gift for the host.
Just a short stop but the owner went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed!
as before had a great time and super wonderful host, wonderful location, 2nd time there...
Lifelong owner/ residents. VERY helpful and kind.
GREAT people and location to southern Jersey.
Gordon and Gail were delightful hosts. We were very impressed with the fact that Gordon expressly said that he did not want us to give them any gifts or money for the electricity, but preferred that we make a donation to a charity of our choice. Such a kind gesture! And, of course, we did!
The site is in the large parking lot of his dental office with several streetlights to make it safe. There is a picnic table, the spot is surrounded by grass and woods, and they provide a 15 amp line. That was sufficient to keep our refrigerator running, interior lights on, and fans moving the air. When we needed more power, we used the generator, which was fine with them. There is also water available, if necessary.
It was on North Main Street and there was some daytime traffic noise, but there was minimal noise after dark and what little there was did not bother us at all.
We highly recommend this Boondockers Welcome location. Our only regret is that we didn't have the opportunity to spend more time with our hosts!
The location was central to all we wanted to explore. Our host G talked with us a couple of times and told us about the area. Much more than just a parking lot...surrounded by trees that muffled street noise, nice grassy area and picnic table. We enjoyed staying here....thank you so much G!!
Clean, green and private.
Appreciated in this July heat. We will be back for sure!
A big thank you to Buck2th78! We had a great stay! Loved the location. It’s very secluded and Private. It was near convenient shops and close to beaches. We visited Long Beach Island and fell in love. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come again!
Big thanks for allowing us to stay here. It was very open which my dog and kids liked. On top of that they even had a table to eat on the side for us. When it rained they helped us find a place to cookout as well. Very nice host.
Awesome location, even more awesome host! We are so grateful for his kindness and accommodations! The parking lot has a nice grassy area with a picnic table for relaxin'.
We ate at nearby Naples pizzeria, delicious! We also visited Long Beach island not too far; it was beautiful and worth the visit.
Thank you so much to our amazing host!
Parking lot with lot of privacy. Even an outside camptable is set ready. The host is quiet nice.
Restaurants and grocery are nearby. Walking distance. So perfect spot for some nights.!
This was our first time using Boondockers Welcome. The host was great. Clear instructions and very accommodating.
From our initial contact, their swift agreement to let me stay and meetings on-site - every aspect of the host's hospitality and friendliness was great. The site has plenty of room to maneuver and is enclosed with trees that add a sense of privacy in a somewhat busy shore town. There is a picnic table along with 15 amp hookup that truly make this a special campground boondocking spot. I would highly recommend Bayside Boondocking as the best-of-the-best in the Boondocks Welcome family.
Gordon has a beautiful spot for camping it's very secluded and peaceful, all the amenities are there for us do use. You can wonder all over the Jersey Shore and still come back to a relaxing and peaceful spot to rest. Our host Gordon is a very considerate host who welcomed us as soon as he heard our arrival and gave us helpful tips on everything we needed even his WiFi password. Thank you for being there for our families and we hope to be there for you.
We had a great stay. We couldn't ask for better Hosts, at their the location we had electric (20 amp), water to fill up your fresh water tank, park next to grassy area with picnic table too. Also within 30 minutes from the Jersey beaches and various shops within walking distance. Hope to return
Terry & Vicki
I stayed at this beautiful & convenient location for 3 nights.
It was very nice, Gordon took a short break when I 1st arrivedto guide me on
where to park on the grounds & I did use their convenient 120vac electric.
From here I enjoyed a very nice chicken Marsala at the nearby Lefty's restaurant.
Also, at the next traffic light heading North, the laundry mat &
the next door bagel shop we're both excellent.
And I drove to nearby Long Beach Island & Atlantic City.
On Sunday, I completed my stay here w another breakfast bagel &
then attendance at the nearby, friendly Grace Chapel.
I would definitely want to stop at "Bayside Docking" again.
We couldn’t have been more grateful for the hospitality and kindness we received. Our trip but we absolutely hope to make our way back here again!
buck2th78 is an amazing host and very gracious. He called me on the morning of arrival to confirm and also give some arrival instructions then stopped by later with his wife and we had a great short visit. His place is perfect for a visit to the area. Easy in and out, lots of great stuff around the area since you are in an actual city and having a pavement "site", water and 15amp hookup makes it even better. We are super grateful to have gotten to stay here and will be back when we are through next time. Thanks again!
We had a great stay at Gordon’s place. He gave us information about that area which was very helpful. The location is quiet and conveniently located.
Our stay was Absolutely delightful! They were so accommodating! We had a lovely visit and an excellent time! They welcomed us warmly!
Thanks for the stay, everything was as mentioned and even better.
We recommend this place. Gordon is very friendly and helpful.
This place is awesome! The host is a very nice man, had a full sheet of paper with recommendations and such on it. The lot you park in is blacktop, but you are right next to a big grassy area surrounded by trees. Plenty of room to let our dog play. The town is small, quiet and has some neat shops. Don't pass up this opportunity because you are afraid of a parking lot!
I had a great experience. Gordon was very informative and even has a sheet filled with info to help with your stay and the surrounding area. The parking lot was great, lots of space and picnic table on a grass area. Would definitely recommend this place! Thanks Gordon!
That was our first experience with boondocker and that was great!
-Large parking and easy access
-All the amenties was disponible and fonctional
Thank you so mutch!
This is the perfect little seaside town location. Close to the ocean, a laundromat, shops, restaurants, but small town enough that it is quiet and relaxing. The parking lot is surrounded by trees and feels cozy and secure. buck2th78 has a helpful info sheet he has prepared. He is a gracious host, who is familiar with Rving and is willing to answer questions about the area. We have been on the road a while and this was an easy stop- close to amenities like a movie theater on a rainy night, but still felt like a stay in the woods.
Such generous hosts! Gordon and Gail have a wonderful place that offers a huge parking lot surrounded by forest on all sides. A rain storm tore thru on one night of my stay, my coach didn't budge as the trees act to shield and protect from the wind. The birds feed next to the picnic table in the morning and the deer prance thru sporadically. The site even had electric hookup and water. It was a great place to charge my rv batteries as well as my own human one. With so much to do nearby it's the perfect spot to relax and rejuvenate. Restaurants, gas station and laundromat down the street. I even spent an evening playing bingo at the American Legion across the street, i won eighteen bucks! I can't thank my hosts Gordon and Gail enough. Thank you. See you on the road!
Gordon was very accommodating and met me when I arrived. The place is well lit at night. As others have stated, the lot is next to Main road but trees blocked the view. The spot was level with 15amp provided. Thanks Gordon!
Great spot. Easy to get in and out. Surprisingly quite at night. We wished we had the time to stay longer. Unfortunately we did not have a chance to say thank you in person.
One of the best Boondockers Welcome spots we've stayed at. "buck2th78" was very helpful as he provided written instructions for all of the amenities he provides: electricity, picnic table, wifi, large parking lot and local info.
I was glad he came out the next morning so I could thank him for everything.
This is an ideal spot to boondock. It has a large paved parking lot that has street lights, 15 amp electric and even a picnic table. It's close to the road but feels secluded and private because of the woods surrounding it. There is a good sized grassy area as well. We stayed two nights here and really enjoyed it. The area has a small town feel to it but is not far from the ocean. Communication with the host was easy and prompt. We would love to stay here again when in the area.
