Myself and my fiancee, Rob, are taking a year to explore the county and see what there is to see. His kids are grown and my 14 year job just ended so this is our chance to get out and visit parks as well as far flung family & friends. We have an inflatable kayak and good hiking shoes. Looking for big skies, interesting geology, wooded paths, clear water and good people.
We are new to the Boondocking lifestyle, but if we come across any useful info or skills we will pass them along.
Sadly, no. But we love animals.
Lower Salt Creek Shoreline Campground Lakehead, CA. Free in off season (mid September to Mid April). It is basically a dirt parking area for the closed campground. No amenities, but you are right next to the lake and the price is right. No close grocery stores, so come supplied. There is a railroad trestle right overhead and expect 3-5 trains a night so it is not the most restful unless you are one of those people who can sleep through anything. The road to the campground is narrow, but there is parking for bigger rigs if it is not crowded (we didn't have any neighbors the 2 nights we stayed there). Lake Shasta is huge, so if you have a toad or you can drop your trailer and explore a little you will find plenty to do in the area. Best suited for: water sport enthusiasts, budget conscious travelers, and those who can drop their trailer or explore the area with their toad.
Arcata, CA. We are coming from the Redwood Coast of California- giant trees, beautiful rocky coast line, and Bigfoot. Though I cannot confirm that last claim.
2015 1500 Ram Eco Diesel pulling a 2018 Outdoors RV Blackrock 20RD. Total length is about 45 feet from front truck bumper to rear bumper of trailer. Trailer height is 10' 6".
We enjoyed the friendly company and conversation. The ranch has a new friend come again soon.
Great conversations about anything, experiences about travel, politics and life, they were good visitors. Welcome anytime and hope to meet again on the road. Hope FL is warm & sunny just for you!
The RedwoodMagpies were perfect guests. We wish we would have been able to spend more time chatting with them and would be happy to host them again.
They showed up in the pouring Kentucky rain, but that didn't stop them from enjoying their stay. The second night the weather cooperated and we had a great time out by the bonfire with our other guest. Our outdoor kitties loved them and wished they had stayed longer. Hopefully we'll see then again soon!
Michelle and Rob are wonderful people and great to talk to. Very down to earth and knowledgeable about a wide variety of subjects. It was a pleasure to meet them! Hope they stop by again and stay longer!
Enjoyed having them stay with us. Would welcome them back any time.
