My wife and I enjoy the RV lifestyle. Have been renting RV's since 1978. Presently own a 1991 Fleetwood Searcher with super-low miles (it's still a "dinosaur"). We spent three months getting it road-worthy and back to almost original condition after the previous owner negelected it for basically 15 years.
We live 10 blocks from the Pacific Ocean in Manhattan Beach, CA. Lots of things to see within an hour or two of our home: beaches, mountains, desert, Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, etc. Our driveway is on a slightly uphill grade, but shouldn't affect operation of fridge. Can accomodate maximum of 27' length RV's. Both of our cars are garaged, but we can park them on the nearest cross-street for a day or so to accommodate boon-dockers.
As of May, 2016, we have seen all 50 states by RV (except for Hawaii).
Am fairly mechanical; had a handyman business for 10 years after I retired from teaching in 2002. Lots of tools on-hand if Rv'ers need assistance. Familiar with a Mac; not sure if I qualify as an "amazing" cook, but I cook a lot. Most of our guests seem to enjoy my cooking.
No pets at present
Lake Cachuma, Lake Casitas, Lake Lopez. But my wife usually prefers full hook-ups.
Manhattan Beach, CA
1991 Jamboree Searcher; have spent many hours and $$ getting it the way I want it. It is only 24' but has everything we want: double bed, dinette, captain chair, etc. I don't care to drive a big unit, or want the expense of owning one.
The location is perfect because it's near the beach (20 mn walk) and to the attractions of Los Angeles.
You can make a lovely bike ride from Manhattan Beach to Santa Monica. It's a quiet neighborhood.
And Joe and Jackie are wonderful. They have been very welcoming with us.
Thank you for all and for the good moments we shared.
Super nice hosts and wonderful spot! Thank you!
I was welcomed by friendly hosts who kindly offered me electic hookup. This is a wonderful location for leaving your vehicle parked and walking around the beautiful neighborhood. There are restaurants, shops and parks all within a few blocks.
Joe and Jackie were so kind and friendly with us. They make us feel really welcomed, and helped us with everything we needed, and even more!
Manhattan Beach is a quite, safe and nice area to set the "camprground", and a great starting point to discover L.A.
If returning to LA, we absolutely would stay there again! :)
J & J were so welcoming when we arrived slightly later than discussed. They had to head out shortly after arrived but not before telling us where we could find local shops and getting us all set up. They gave us lots of helpful information on where to visit, where to park with the RV, local dump sites and more. We also had trouble with our travel cot so J took us to the local hardware store to help us out (the support lasted a long time but we then found a sleeve for the pole at an outdoor store). It is a shame we did not get to spend more time with you but it was a very busy time. Thank you for hosting us and for all of your help. If you are ever at our side of the world, let us know and we hope to see you again one day!

we had a great time with Joe and Jacky. We loved the location for visiting L.A and the cost during the day and had a pleasant time in the evening with our hosts!
Joe and Jackie made our stay a highlight in our travels. They are easy going, accomodating, and above all else welcoming. They had dinner on our first night (delicious). Great conversation and many excellent recommendations on things to do. We privileged to meet them.

Good place, easy to find, well situated. Nice people. Very quiet and comfortable.
Staying with Joe and Jackie felt like a home away from home. They were very thoughtful and accommodating and we had a great time with them. Despite Joe's recent knee surgery, he was up and about and willing to help us with anything. We had a wonderful time with them and got lots of great travelling tips. These two have seen a lot! Only two states to go. They have a beautiful home, a lot of which they have skillfully done up themselves. The drive way was easy to get into and they graciously supplied a water hose and electricity cable. They are well read, well travelled active members of the community. We highly recommend staying with them and would love to host them in the future if we can.
So much appreciate the accommodation despite Joes's recent knee surgery. Joe and Jackie were very sweet and welcoming. The driveway did require skill to back the trailer in but was straightforward to level. We did not take advantage of the offer of water or power. The location was perfect for our trip to see Venice beach-so grateful!
We spent 4 nights at Joe and Jackie's place and they were really nice. They helped us giving some information about propane station and dump station. They offered a gift for our elder's birthday, she was really happy and both of our girls liked them a lot. We spent a great time, really quiet place not too far from the beach.
Joe and Jackie went out of their way to make us feel welcome! Not only did they have us over for dinner, but they were full of excellent suggestions for things to do in their area. Manhattan Beach is beautiful, and we enjoyed exploring the town.
Appetizers and Wine as a welcome, congenial conversation and helpful information about local services. Joe and Jackie were wonderful. Although our timing was not the best, they welcomed us to stay the two nights before Christmas, and we could enjoy their local beach. Water, power and Wifi in a snap, Leveling blocks all set up - we can but recommend Joe and Jackie to anyone wanting to experience LA Beach life - just be prepared for LA traffic to get there!
Joe and Jackie are very welcoming. We shared our travels and was invited for dinner. My dogs made new friends as well..................thank you both
We stopped by for a night with Joe and Jackie, and they were great hosts. We had a 19 1/2' LTV Class B and fit very well; Joe's leveling blocks brought the driveway slope up comfortably. Good conversation and a good location on our trip south. Thanks, guys!
