My husband, Tom Shafer, and I have been together for 15 years. Both of us lost our spouses to illness in 2005. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to "Live Life" again with someone who shares my values and love for traveling. Over the years, we have taken many trips and cruises and enjoy marking off places on our "must visit" list. Tom is 75 and slowing stepping away from his excavating business. I am 64 and recently retired from the Director of Human Resources at a local manufacturing company. We are looking toward travelling and the time we can start the next chapter of our lives in our motorhome, seeing more of the country.
With operating his own heavy equipment for most of his life, Tom knows diesel motors! He has always taken care of his own maintenance and repairs.
Tom and I have a rescued Boston Terrier, Louie who is about 5 years old. He loves to travel and is looking forward to taking trips in our motorhome.
We sold our house and are living in our motorhome at our property near Meadville, PA. Our setting is very rural and quiet. We are hoping to carve out a spot for other BW travelers to stay as we enjoyed having folks stop in while we were in Conneaut Lake at our Quiet Country Retreat. Stay tuned!
TomandJan responded on same day of request and even came down to show me the spot in person. I had originally booked one night stay and ended adding another night, I felt so welcomed.
What wonderful folks. Easy spot to back in our rig and a nice recreational park across the road with a beautiful creek. Took many walks in the park with our dogs. Our hosts made us feel so welcome and at home. Truly sincere nice people. Thank you
Great location nice & quiet.. plenty of room.hope to revisit again soon... thanks guy's
We needed a place for overnight on our way and even though TomandJan weren't home they helped us through very rainy night. Very nice surroundings, wish we could stay more to explore.
We spent 4 lovely nights with Tom and Jan at Quiet Country Retreat. What an amazing place they have, right across the street from the most beautiful park. Spent many hours walking in the park amongst the trees and just relaxing and soaking up the amazing energy. We parked in a flat area and they let us fill our fresh tank and even let us jump in the pool. Tom and Jan, and their dog Louis were the sweetest hosts. We enjoyed getting to know them while sharing food and making "mountain pies." So happy to have the chance to meet them and would highly recommend staying with them if you are in the area. They are one in a million!!! Thanks for a great time and wishing you sweet adventures in the future.
Our hosts provided a very spacious peaceful spot for us to enjoy our stay.
They were a huge help with getting us situated since we are still new to getting parked.
We didn’t get to visit as much as we wanted due to us sightseeing and working but we did enjoy some chats with these kind people.
We also loved the huge park across the road where our dogs loved running off leash and we played in the creek with our toddler. We had a blast and wish them luck on their journeys!
We stayed with TomandJan for 1 night and had dinner together. Thank you for the great space, the open friendliness toward us and our pup, and the fresh garlic! I wish we had stayed longer, but we greatly appreciated our short stop. We liked sitting on the back yard and watch fireflies going by and listen to the orchestra of the tree frogs.
We loved staying with Tom and Jan! They are incredibly hospitable and we feel like we made life long friends. We enjoyed trading travel stories and they were so good with our son. He even got a ride on a backhoe-- best 4th of July ever!! Quiet Country Retreat is the perfect description of the property, we can't wait to come back before they head off full time.
