"When you have love in your heart everyone has joy in your presence," This holds true for Dan and Mary!
I wish them safe travels and welcome them back anytime!
Redtail Retreat was perfect setting to sit and enjoy (birds, pups running, Mayer walk to river) or go explore amazing beaches and food15 minutes away. Was warmly welcomed by hosts and great to share stories of travels given our rigs are similar. Definitely would stay again when in the area and keep in touch if paths cross on the road. Happy travels!
We really enjoyed our short stay here and would definitely consider it next time we’re near. Very central. Great conversation with host. Sad we didn’t get to explore more of the farm.
We enjoyed our stay at Redtail Retreat. The country setting and privacy of the site were particularly nice. We were glad for the electrical hookup so we could run our heater because one morning it was 29 degrees when we woke up. We only saw our host briefly because he was working, but he was very nice. With beautiful sunsets and a very clear night sky it was a relaxing place as a base to explore nearby Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, and Ogunquit.
This was our second stay with these great hosts. It's a nice quiet spot in a great location close to the coast and lots of things to do. We're already looking forward to next year/stay when we can, hopefully, enjoy our hosts' company a bit more after all the craziness of this year has blown over.
Had a very relaxing stay at Redtail. The hosts were very welcoming and kind. Would definitely recommend this!
Great spot! Hosts are super friendly and invited us to watch the sunset overlooking their fields. Dan also had a great recommendation for mountain biking trails in the area. Hope to return again next year!
Perfect host home to begin our vacation. A really nice spot and friendly host.
Loved our stay here! Very private and quiet. Beautiful views from our location! So glad that we had an electric hookup, because it got down to 32° and it was chilly!
This host's location should be kept a secret. Beautiful grounds, peaceful, and quiet. Thank you for sharing such a serene location. Hope to return again in the future.
We had a great sign to greet us with instructions on where to park since the hosts had messaged us that they would arrive later than us. Peaceful wooded setting with great sunsets. Wish we could have had some time for conversations & to share travel stories between us. Our stay here was our dog Jake’s last days & he was happy too! A special thanks to Cheryl for the great white rice she made for Jake as his last meals - you are super!
Wow, wow, wow. What a beautiful piece of paradise ! Cannot thank redtail retreat enough for such a relaxing, safe and quiet place to park. We truly hope to visit again. A+++
Our hosts were so helpful while we stayed in the area and we were well rested and ready to resume our journey with invigorated spirits when we departed. We Really feel like we’ve been on a retreat and now it’s time to ramble on. We won’t forget your hospitality or the beautiful surroundings, especially sunset. We hope to return some day.
It was a true gift to spend the night. The sunset, the morning riverside trail walk, the wonderful conversation and very friendly neighbors/dog were all delightful. We’d love to return and spend more than just 14 hrs.
We were so glad to return and stay when we had more time to relax and enjoy the area. Our hosts were so nice, and explained the local hikes adjacent to their home down to the river. So beautiful here we loved our time at Redtail Retreat!
Our wonderful hosts left us a sign with instructions on where to park and hooking up was as simple as plugging in, totally level. What a wonderful time we had, thanks for the inspiring conversation, hope to return soon and have more time here.
Perfect for peaceful resting and renewal. And of course Maggie loves to play with Sadie. 🐶
The hosts were super accommodating and welcoming. Beautiful property in a great location!
We loved this place. The hosts are amazing. Can’t wait to go back.
Our first Boondockers experience after 30 years as Motor home travelers was a real eye opener from the warm greeting from the host to the sunset over the hay field. This is a must visit for anyone tired of being jammed up in the RV parks. The trail winds a little over a mile to the Kennebuck river where you will find a restful seat under 300 feet tall evergreen trees and magnificent oak and maple trees several hundred years old over hanging a small but beautiful river rushing over moss covered rocks. The walk back can take you along the river walking on soft pine needles and leaves. There is also a mosquito proof dinner tent just perfect for a picnic with the only sound being the babbling water. We will be back next year.
Our original 2 night stay turned into another 2 nights request.
Retreat is a good description for their little paradise, everything
is green, lush and expansive.
Starting at the beginning, the hosts greeted us upon our arrival showing us parking, hook ups, parking was in a level and mostly shaded spot, and they even offered us a swim in their pool.
Amazing hosts! Not only do they have many life experiences to share, they are pretty handy you might learn a thing or two from them.
Danlang, thank you both for opening your home to BW guests! We hope we can make this an annual event and that you will come visit with us someday! Stay well! Safe travels!
We looked for a host for two nights where we might see the Perseid meteor showers and star gaze, and Danlang was the perfect spot with pasture lands, sunsets, and even a river walk on conservation lands.
We really connected on so many levels even before we drove down their driveway. Caring and all around good people, we missed a lot of meteors as we sat together in conversation under the stars. Friendly and helpful, highly recommend and great hosts!
Part of every summer and fall now! Like visiting family. Peace and quiet. (Better than family! 😉)
We enjoyed a peaceful stay at Redtail Retreat! The hosts greeted us upon our arrival showing us parking, hook ups, and even offered a swim in their pool.
A fabulous sunset with a lovely perennial garden was a definite bonus.
We look forward to returning, as it’s just a short drive to several beautiful beaches.
Thank you both!
Danlang was incredibly hospitable to us - came to check-in with us when we pulled in, gave us parking directions, offered us a 30 amp hook up and water. Parking was in a level and mostly shaded spot. Danlang is incredibly friendly and provides good local site recommendations! Easy drive to Portland!
Our first night with BW. Perfect location for a quite evening after a day on the Maine coast beach. Will have to return to chat and view the property on another visit since we left early for a second beautiful beach day.
Danlang was a super friendly host who was kind enough to take us on a tour of his fabulous yard. We really enjoyed meeting him and appreciated the very private and quite camping spot. Definitely a great place to stay the next time we're back in the area!
Amazing hosts! Their property is beautiful. Walking the trails to the river is a great way to start the day and grilling while overlooking the field for sunset is a great way to finish it.
Quiet spot in countryside and very nice hosts. Would return anytime.
Excellent location in rural farmland. Terrific walk along River behind property.
Wry handy spot. The host couple are very welcoming and even put out a sign with instructions. What a great idea
Our hosts were very welcoming. Their site is quiet with electric. We hope to return sometime. A country setting.
Thanks to our hosts for a great overnight stay. They helped make the stop easy for us and they have a really neat property.
Simply awesome people in an awesome area,,,,book it
I had a great time talking with the hosts. They were very kind and have a great location. We had to stop for a couple days to focus on work and we were able to work from their land and easily get to cafes in the area. They also have beautiful lands and a trail that leads down to nice river. Thanks again, we had a great time!
Simple, good experience of staying at Redtail one night while traveling north. Would welcome these folks at our place any time.
I cant believe that it’s taken me this long to walk to the river! Magical forest bathing! Light, water, smells, happy dod.
The location was perfect stopping point for us on Thursday night as we were headed to Acadia on Friday. The host also accommodated our late arrival. Although we didn’t have an opportunity to meet them because we arrived late and left early, they were extremely communicative via the Boondockers site with details and directions. We hope to get back up and use this site again in the future to explore the area.
Love this spot! Love the people and dogs who live on this little slice of heaven! Always the best💕
Very comfortable and pleasant hosts. EZ in/out. Invited me out to a friend's house to see documentary KEDI.
All the best yo you both.
We stayed one night with Dan and Mary after visiting Kennebunkport. Beautiful spot in rural surrounding. Very friendly hosts. We wish them all the best for the future travellings.
Beautiful home in the country. Friendly hosts. The spot is in its own little area with a view of some fields and the sunset.
Hosts are friendly and welcoming. The site is a good distance from the house. Located in rural farm country. Very nice sunset views from the adjacent hayfield.
Such a chill place, absolutely love meeting Dan and Mary, I am sure we will meet again!
Great time talking with Dan and Mary. They are so gracious and knowledgeable.
Only Boondocker spot near Kennebunk and we were welcomed warmly and hope to return next year.
More of the same wonderfulness . Loved going to my hostess’s art show!
A great place in the country to relax or commute to the beaches! Im a recurring visitor now!! These guys are the best!
We had a very brief stay. Our host was very helpful and sure wish we could have stayed longer. Beautiful area, and close to lots of things to do.
I had a great stay at Mary in Dan’s Redtail retreat .. I met both Mary and Dan and they were lovely people… Thanks so much !! I can pretty much confirm that I will be staying there again in the future if it’s OK with you folks…
Very nice people, we felt welcome, nice spot, very quiet. Nice first experience for us :)
It was my first experience with boondockers welcome and I am very happy that it was with Dan and Mary. Their little paradise is perfect and I had all the space I needed. It was a pleasure to chat with them and I hope to have the chance to see them again someday. Thank you Dan and Mary ... you are welcome at my place in Rimouski anytime you want.
Dan and Mary were so gracious to let us stay at their retreat.Retreat is a good description for the place as it is green and lush and expansive, out in the country. It was fun to see chickens out strolling on the lawn for their evening walk when we arrived. We didn't get to meet Dan but did Mary, who we felt we could have known for a long time, an instant bond.
We hope on one of their trips to California that they look us up!
Thank you for the great stay.

I had originally requested to stay with my hosts for a single night and was approved shortly thereafter. I contacted them a few hours later as my arrangements to moochdock had fallen through. Dan could not be more understanding or accommodating. My original single night stay turned in to 3 nights and was very relaxing. The property is rural and the boondocking site is next to the garage, about 50 yards from the house. Dan and Mary greeted me and encouraged me to walk around the property at me leisure. Very serene and peaceful location. Very positive experience and highly recommend!
We didn't get to spend to much time with Dan and Mary since we are traveling thru and stayed for one night but we enjoyed our stay. Our Google maps had their address in a different location but that's due to Google maps not the host so make sure you read all of the driving instructions. Other than that they are both very friendly and their older dog loved playing with Jag. It is also close to Kennebunkport and Portland so if you are in the area we highly recommend staying with them.
Maggie and I had a lovely, but short visit with our hosts! Maggie loved playing with their furry family and running in the fields. Enjoyed visiting but wished I’d had more time! Turns out we have a dancer friend in common!! Hopefully they’ll come visit me in Louisiana. I promised to teach them how to dance zydeco. 😁
We feel so lucky to have stumbled upon Redtail Retreat. D&M were so nice and accommodating. We were a little longer than their limit and they said they had room for us. We got there much later than expected and they treated us like old friends. If you get the chance to stay here, don’t pass it up. Some of the most genuinely nice people you’ll meet. Plus you might learn a thing or two, They are pretty handy.
Dan and Mary are such wonderful people. They gave me a tour of their impressive farm and gave me fresh veggies. They offered electric and a space that would pretty much accommodate any sized rig. I was so happy to have met such incredible people. This is why this site is so amazing.
Dan and Mary were very welcomng and helpful. They have a lovely place, well Located. I am very grateful for this first experience Boondocking!
Dan and Mary are very awesome hosts. They welcomed us on their beautiful property and told us to check it out. Told us we were welcome to use the screened area and take a dip in their pool. Their calm personalities made us feel at home. Thank you for suggesting we check out Acadia National Park, it was as wonderful as you described. We would definitely stay at Redtail Retreat again.
Thanks for sharing your paradise with us.

Our Garmin was off on the address, but when we spotted the red tail sign we knew that we were at the right place. Our host greeted us and showed us where to park and invited us to enjoy the yard with a pool, garden and gazebo. We enjoyed watching the sunset from the gazebo. We appreciated being able to plug in to the 30 amp electric outlet. Our overnight stay was very peaceful and quiet in a lovely rural area. We would love to stay here again in the future.
Peaceful, quiet setting within short drive of Kennebunk and Kennebunkport. Several outdoor "rooms" to relax in-or-out of the sun. These folks have beautiful spirit, and love of nature and simplicity. Perfect for us!
Dan and Mary were wonderful hosts for our first Boondocker visit. Easy spot to park and elec hook up. Dan was quick to respond and welcomed us when we arrived. Their place was close to the coast and easy to explore places. Thankfully they had a pool we could use as the temperature was in the high 90s. 😎
