I live alone in a small home on a creek that has a peaceful small waterfall. Nice sitting area. Semi retired
I do bee keeping as a hobby. I own a food trailer and do a few festivals during the year.
1 dog and 1 inside/outside cat. I take my dog when I travel if possible.
I am new to RVing. I have just had my motor home 1 year
Class A Diesel Pusher 2015 Chevrolet Pickup
Fun to talk with. They even brought entertainment, Molly and Bella. Welcome any time. Hope to see you again.
The question here is: which is more charming, the host or the location? Both are highly recommended.
Mr. H. was gracious to postpone our stay by a day due to a weather event on our end. He was also extremely helpful getting us in to his location, talking us in by phone from the end of his property. A very engaging fellow, we wish we had more time to visit with him.
The area he has boondockers stay in is a hidden, peaceful gem. Sunrise over the creek is not to be missed.
Host was out in the rain helping me get electricity hooked up, even though I said it could wait till the rain stopped. Very thoughtful hospitality oriented.
I hope to visit again.
We really appreciate this site near the river with waterfall. It was quiet and near Roanoke. Our host was generous and really friendly
I have traveled several days and stopped here. It is so refreshing that I stayed 2 nights. Very generous and thoughtful host. I would love to come here again.
Will definitely go back!
What a beautiful site: right on a little stream and so close to downtown Roanoke. Wonderful host, was very helpful and friendly.
I attempted to stay here in route to Shenandoah National Park. Unfortunately, a hurricane pushing up from the Gulf and never ending rain prevented my stay. Sherman typically brings RVs in on a dirt entrance into his back yard. It was much too wet for that, so we (Sherman and I) thought I could park in his driveway. Big mistake. Got my 30-foot RV and truck stuck in a very bad situation. Unable to turn around after an hour of trying, it was decided to realigned the rig and back out. Long story short, I did some cosmetic damage to my RV and destroyed my 5th wheel hitch with some extreme jacking angles. RVs pin box bent the hitch release to the point where I could no longer release the RV. Hitch could not be repaired.
I would not recommend staying here unless the ground is dry and solid with no rain in the forecast. Those with 5th wheel rigs, do not attempt entering Sherman's property using the driveway. It's too steep and your tailgate area may dig into the underside of the rig. Only use the dirt entrance on the left side of his house that he recommends in his writeup.
With all that being said, Sherman is a super friendly guy and his property is very nice. I felt so sorry for him. He stood out in the pouring down rain while directing my attempts at getting my rig turned around. I also trenched the poor guys yard.
We only stayed over night but would love to have stayed longer. Sherman has himself a little slice of paradise. He directed us in and helped us get to a nice level spot with electricity then left us to enjoy his property. A walk down to the waterfall and creek was wonderful. There had been a shower before we got there and there was mist rising off the creek it was just perfect for our first experience being hosted with Boondockers welcome! Would love to stay again if we are ever back in the area.
Peaceful waterfall is a nice spot. It had rained heavily for a few days leaving the prime spot next to the creek soggy. The host met us upon our late night arrival and helped us to a level spot on his property. He was very hospitable and friendly. We were there just a few hours of the night as we were heading up North and just passing through. Will definitely stop at this spot again if we are in the area.
Beautiful piece of property. Unfortunately due to the amount of rain they’ve had we were not able to park next to the creek. However, Sherman accommodated us in another location. Very close to downtown. Thanks - if we’re in the area again we will definitely go back.
Creekside Va is exactly as the photos show. S. was an excellent host and was willing to help me with anything I needed. I suggest parking up on the higher areas further away from the picnic table if it's been raining a lot.
I needed a nice place to sit & rest, this was perfect for my needs.
The babbling creek had a gentle flow w a short man-made waterfall at the left-rear of this property that supplied some white noise to overcome some of the nearby street noise.
I enjoyed watching the seasonal visitors of geese & ducks hop the falls & be playful.
Sherman the host was very hospitable including mowing the lawn before I arrived &
assisting me w his air compressor to refill a flat tire that I discovered when I arrived.
It was caused by a very slow leaking valve stem extension. It was easily repaired the next day by a local very nice Mobile Tire Repair Mechanic.
I would definitely return again & I do highly recommend this place.
Thank you Sherman, it was a pleasure!
Host was very nice and helpful. Immediately brought a 15 amp hookup to site. Dogs played together. Both waded in the stream. My first Boondockers Welcome stay. Great to have a secure, tranquil spot for a night en route. Highly recommended.
i had a great night stay here! There is plenty of room to park and you can't beat the view right on the river.!
The host was very friendly and had I not had a schedule to keep I would have stayed another night.
We had a wonderful stay. Our host was very generous. His property just by the water is incredible. We will come back for sure !
This spot is so relaxing, and the people who live here are so friendly and kind that you're not gonna want to leave! I sure didn't! In fact I ended up staying an extra night.
Our family LOVED staying at CreeksideVa. The picture can't really capture this peaceful little spot. We woke to the sound of the waterfall and our boys spent the morning skipping stones on the creek. Sherman is a lovely host. We so appreciated his kindness and conversation. If you need a place to stay in Roanoke, this is a great one.
Sherman is a most gracious host with a beautiful piece of property, located a few minutes from I-81.Our parking spot was on a half acre of mowed lawn next to a creek and waterfall (low head dam). An extension cord was left for our convenience. Sherman has a gift of hospitality and will be pleased to share a cup of coffee or 'leave you be.'
Pay attention to the directions to enter his property and you will have an superb experience.
