Doug was a very nice gentleman. Quiet as can be, but asked some great questions. We were happy to have him stay the night and glad we were able to provide electricity for A/C as we are having a very HOT spell here in Idaho! Hope to see Doug again soon -- oh and ask him about his Banana Bread -- yum!!!
Didn’t get much time to interact as we were both gone a lot. But a pleasure to talk during those few times we were both here
A very lovely location and delightful host. Next time, and there will be a next time, we will stay longer at whetstoneDoug’s and give Pickleball a chance!
Doug, Tom & Tom. Were great host. We were stressed out as our AC had stopped working. Doug immediately got us some fans to help cool us down. The nights were cool so the fans helped with being able to sleep comfortably. We stayed two nights and visited some of the places that were recommended to us to see in Tucson. If you guys ever make it out to Tennessee we'd love to have you. Doug take care of yourself!!
Great stay in the desert. Our spot was super comfortable and I got a bonus of playing Pickleball on the beautiful courts in Sierra Vista. Thanks for hosting us.
Doug was an amazing host! His property was close to everything we wanted to see and it was quiet and peaceful. Thanks Doug for a great first boondockers welcome experience.
As I write this, we are actually still here. We had some issues and asked Doug if we could arrive two days later; he was very accommodating. As we were driving here, we discovered a mechanical issue with the motorhome and had to order a part. Doug was very laid-back about our request to stay an additional night so that we can replace the part. It’s SO nice to know we won’t have to attempt the repair in some remote BLM land!
Rascal Ranch is about 2 acres of southwest bliss ... we can hear the coyotes at dusk, neighborhood chickens and roosters cluck and crow just far enough away to be entertaining, not close enough to be annoying. We can even hear donkeys somewhere, and there’s a small flock of Gambel’s Quail that scoot past our motorhome during the day. We haven’t seen the roadrunners yet. It’s a short 15-20 minute drive to 3 grocery stores, Target, Walmart, Autozone, etc., in Sierra Vista, which is a surprisingly “new” looking town and easy to navigate. They have a nice dog park in Sierra Vista, too! The Ranch is an easy and pretty drive to Bisbee and Tombstone. We hope Doug will visit New England one day ... you’re welcome to park in our driveway, Doug!
We really enjoyed the location with the views of the mountains! The host gave excellent directions and met us at the gate. The site is a back in spot but was able to do it with our 40 ft 5’er. Great spot to branch out to Bisbee or Tombstone
Doug was a great host who made my first stay with Boondockers a true pleasure. My cat and I enjoyed walking the paths around his property. It was located close to sites I wanted to visit. The stay was quiet and relaxing, just perfect!
Doug is incredibly accommodating and has a fantastic setup in the beautiful Arizona desert. Super close to many attractions with a strong Verizon signal! One of our favorite stays yet! We look forward to keeping up with our new friend, Doug!!
Turns out I'm the first visitor at Rascal Ranch. And for his first host, whetstonedoug couldn't have done any better. Great location if you're heading between Phoenix and El Paso. Power was a plus. My pup loved running fee around the multi-acre property. Doug was a responsive and welcoming host. Had no problem finding the place and the drive in was smooth despite a recent thunderstorm in the area. Not far from Tombstone and Bisbee, AZ for those wanting some old western tourist options.
