My wife and I are both retired and love to travel in our fifth wheel RV. We do most of our RVing in the West. We try to visit Quartzsite each year with our Montana Owners Club. Our daughter and family are now in the Seattle area so we'll be visiting there at least once a year.
No particular expertise to share. Good understanding in general about most aspects of RVing.
We currently have 3 small dogs. They love traveling and travel well.
Arizona during the winter months. Oregon Coast during the Summer and Fall.
Bakersfield, CA
We have a fifth wheel Montana model 3582RL. It is a 2012. It is about 38 feet in length and about 12'6" tall with 3 slideouts. Tow vehicle is a 2002 Ford PSD 450.
I am so happy that I got to stay with Dennis and Mary Kay again on my way back to the Bay Area. As with the first time; it was a smooth, friendly experience!
They were also kind enough to let me use power to recharge my batteries.
Got a great night's sleep and left early in the morning. Didn't get a chance to say goodbye because I didn't want to wake anyone.
Great people, great hosts! They know how to make you feel very welcomed!
The hosts are amazing people. Very welcoming and generous. The amenities available are great. We availed ourselves to the electric hookup.
Great stopover location when traveling back to the snowy north.
We wish D and MK the best in their upcoming change in lifestyle and will miss this RV Boondocker location. Thank you for your hospitality.
We enjoyed meeting Dennis and his family last night. We were able to hook up to electricity and it was a very nice, quiet neighborhood. Took their recommendation and ate at Leo’s- great food. Really enjoyed our visit and wish them the best of luck on their next move!
Dennis and Mary Kay are so generous and welcoming. Thank you so much for everything!!
This was the first place I stayed on my new journey. It was like an answer to a prayer.
I found the app and immediately sent a request to Dennis and Mary Kay when I read their reviews. They accepted right away and that made me really excited.
There was great communication and when I let them know of my delays they did not get upset and tell me not to come.
That was a relief in itself. I hate being late but sometimes things are not in our control.
When I got there it was after dark, but
I was greeted, showed my space, and chatted a few minutes when Mary Kay before turning in for the night.
Really enjoyed my chat the next morning with Dennis. He also gave me great tips for my route on to Palm Springs. It was a beautiful drive and probably better than where the GPS would have taken me.
Because of Dennis and Mary Kay I feel like my journey started off on the best foot possible.
I hope to meet many more people like them along the way and to share and spread a little kindness in the process.
I would highly recommend checking out their place if you're traveling through the Bakersfield area.
They seem more like friends than just hosts. Kindness is everything! #KindnessIsLove 😀
Dennis and Mary Kay were a welcome site and sight after 450+ miles. Dennis had helpful advice for the next phase of my trip to Arizona. Lovely couple.
I popped in and stayed one night with Mary K and Dennis... They were wonderful hosts! Most hospitable and genuine. I hope to meet tham out on the road in the future...It would be fun! Thanx!
HamRad were great hosts all around ! We really enjoyed staying a bit at their place while we replenished our supplies. They are very friendly, have lovely dogs and their place is great all around. We wish them the best and hope that they have many years for RVing in front of them !

We were immediately welcomed by these fellow Rv'ers! We enjoyed having dinner together and really liked the neighborhood. Please come visit us when we finally settle down! We would definitely recommend staying here!
We stopped for a night on our way through and they were welcoming and generous hosts. We had a wonderful sleep in their beautiful and quiet neighborhood. And as previous reccomendations mentioned, they are close to all you need in the city.
If your looking for an easy safe stop these Guys are great! Their spot is in a neighborhood with easy access to everything the city has to offer! This worked out perfect for us as we had a truck problem during our visit. Our hosts were very generous in allowing us to stay an extra day so we could get it fixed up, which was not a problem with so many mechanics nearby.
We would highly recommend stopping here if you are passing through! Their warmth and generosity was overflowing and we had a great time getting to know them and their pups and hope to stop by again someday!
This was our very first Boondockers Welcome and we couldn't have had better hosts. My husband backed up our 27 foot travel trailer with no problems at all. Their 5th wheel was parked next to ours. We have 3 slides and were easily able to extend all of them. Our host met us and showed us where the water and electric was. We definitely would stay again!
Thank you!
Mark and Terry
We were here for just one night and got in too late for our personal liking.
However, Hamrad, was very gracious, (as we kept them posted by text) and they set us up with power and offered water as well.
Apparently, this is a very busy Boondocking location as we were the fourth visitor in four weeks. WOW.
Parking was a breeze as we backed our 36' rig in with room to spare in the driveway. We then parked our tow vehicle in the street out front. No problems at all.
Certainly looking forward to the next time through Bakersfield.
Thanks for hosting us.
Very welcoming hosts in a lovely neighbourhood.
We had issues with our coach and they graciously let us store our refrigerator items in their unit which was also parked in the driveway. It saved us from losing our all of our fresh and frozen food.
We had several conversations and in particular, they helped with mapping and discussed routes around the area and northern California.
This was our first "Boondockers Welcome" experience and found it to be a very pleasant one. The first time experience anxiety was quickly forgotten. We are very happy to have joined this travel club.
Thank you very much for all of your help and making this stop a positive one.

We stayed at HamRad's house for one night. Parking is in their driveway and they graciously offer full hook ups. They live in a nice quiet neighborhood. We took our dogs for a walk right after we arrived and we welcomed by neighbors we passed. Unfortunately, due to a family health issue we were not able to spend much time with the owners however the amount of time we did spend coupled with the fantastic communication was wonderful. This was our first boondocks welcome experience and we feel like we made new friends! Highly recommended!!
I felt so welcome. They invited me into their home, shared with me about their experiences, trips, places of interest. Grateful for the hospitality. I had been parked in a meadow for almost 5 weeks during which it rained almost 30 days. Crazy amount of water and humidity, averaging 90% INSIDE the trailer, everything was damp/wet. I was able to park in their driveway, plug in, run the heater, strip everything down and take it to the laundromat (even though they offered the use of their washer) I was happy to run errands, dry everything out and set out for the next cross country adventure. Truly the sweetest couple.
HamRad are the real deal. Amazing and wonderful people who welcomed me to their place and even offered me extra time as they had no other visitors. We had some great chats and they made my visit to Bakersfield and exploring the surrounding area easy and stress free.Their location is beautiful and they are two awesome people, great assets to Boondockers Welcome and the RV community in general.
I can't recommend them enough. 10 stars!
:)
Very nice people. Our 4 year old daughter was very happy to swim in the pool and ride a bike that was offered to use by our hosts. He gave us a long list of recommendations when it comes to California, Arizona and Mexico that will help us planning the trip ahead.
My family recently was in need of a place to stay and contacted Dennis at the last minute. He called us right back as said no problem. When we arrived, Dennis and Mary Kay welcomed us to their home and offered us every amenity. They had water and 50 amp electricity and even a dump station!!! They were so generous and such nice people. When we left, they gave us lemons from their Meyer Lemon tree! Yum - it made the best lemonade!!! They are a lovely couple and we would highly recommend them to fellow boondockers.
Dennis and Mary Kay are a great couple. They are so friendly and they made us feel right at home. We stayed two nights, April 16th and 17th. We went to dinner at a local restaurant. While there, we shared some funny stories of what can and does happen when you are on a RV trip. Very enjoyable evening.
We would recommend this as a stop over and hope to see them again.
We were welcomed warmly by our hosts. Electricity and water were easily available if needed, and the space was flat, clean and pleasant. Thanks for a great stay!
Dennis and Mary Kay make incredible hosts. Their boondocking location is great. They have all the hookups necessary. We showed up later on in the evening and both Dennis and Mary Kay were outside to greet us with beautiful smiles. After they had shown us around to familiarize ourselves, we sat down and had a great conversation that went in every direction. Both of these people are full of happiness, love, and life, and they are eager to share the joy. If you're in the area we highly suggest you contact these two lovely souls.
Mary Kay and Dennis are wonderful hosts. They have a great spot to boondock....with power and water. We stayed 2 nights and shared a great Mexican dinner with our hosts at a local eatery. Dennis is a HAM radio operator and so much more. Mary Kay is a retired PE teacher. They both have traveled all over the West so they share great knowledge. A fun and interesting couple who share the joy of RVing.
Bakersfield is a big city ( from our Maine perspective) that has all of the supplies you need to re-stock before heading out for more adventures.
