We're pretty low key, enjoy our quiet lifestyle in a small fishing community in Nova Scotia. Originally from Toronto, but having moved here in 1999, we have no regrets escaping the city life. We run a small business from our home creating and selling activities for people with dementia, enjoy boating and hope to enjoy truck camping just as much.
We are long time sailboat cruisers, having traveled to the Caribbean and Bahamas several times on our boats. We have a great woodworking shop (necessary to maintain our wooden boats).
We have two 11 month old (as of June 2018) Portuguese Water Dogs - brothers from the same litter. Quite a handful but we enjoy them. We previously had a brother and a sister from the same breeder and now we've done it again! Our previous dogs had wonderful adventures to the Bahamas on our sailboat, we hope to offer Grady and Gillam similar adventures in our truck camper.
None yet, but we hope to build a long list.
Originally from Toronto, but happily settled here in Stonehurst NS since 1999. Stonehurst is a small fishing community (just a few houses) about 10 minutes from Lunenburg. We LOVE it.
Beautiful site on the water. Lives up to the peaceful name. Friendly, interesting hosts.
We had a wonderful stay with this host!! They responded to our request quickly and communicated via the website and text regarding our stay. Upon arrival, their property was a wonderful treat, right on the water with a beautiful dock and they let our little dog play in their fenced back yard. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting with them while our dogs played together and we would highly recommend visiting them when you are in the Lunenburg area, it’s an easy drive to town and staying out in the Blue Rocks Area offered incredible views of the ocean and a wonderful rural feel.
We really enjoyed first night as the location can not be beat. Due to schedules we have not met our hosts yet, but look forward to doing so this evening.
We met wonderful people. They welcomed us with open arms and we really enjoyed talking to them. Their livestyle inspires us. Thank you so much for taking us on that boat trip - the kids still talk about it. It was a great experience!
We would have loved to stay longer and hope to meet with you again one day.
Thank you so much for having us! We we're so sorry that our stay was cut short and we missed out on our bonfire date tonight. We we're really looking forward to that. Your place was so peaceful and the wharf was a fantastic place to relax and enjoy the beautiful views.
Great conversations for us, and fun play time for our two pups. Perfect quiet location close to Lunenburg, with friendly and hilarious dogs. You guys made our second ever boondocking stay such a great experience!
We hope to be more organized in future and to see you again! Hopefully we'll have our place ready in time for your next trip to Ontario - we'd love to have you!
Our stay with Donna and Howard was amazing ! They were very welcoming and made us feel at home instantly. We had a couple of very nice chats with them - they even gave us a tour of the property!
The location is also amazing, we were blown away by the view and the surroundings. It was charming and I would definitely go back anytime. Hope to be back soon!
Thanks to both of you ! :)
In spite of arriving during a downpour that lasted for hours, our stay was so positive. As we worked to set up, they were right there with us - doggies, too. Our 2 dogs and their 2 dogs had a great time! After a very peaceful night, we got to know them better. We even have some mutual friends. It was hard to leave. Thank you for a great visit!
My daughter and I really enjoyed our visit to scenic Lunenburg NS and our overnight boondock with these friendly hosts.
Getting my trailer in from the road was a bit challenging (I should have backed in), but once done everything was great. Was it peaceful, you betcha!
In the morning, I brewed them some of my home roasted coffee. (RV roasted, in this case.) We had a great visit over our morning coffee. They may become the newest members of the home coffee roasting community.
Thanks again for a great stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at stonehurst. Howard and Donna were very charming hosts. We loved their terrace on the sea and the peaceful of their location. Just 10 minutes driving to Beautiful Lunenburg.
This is what Boondockers Welcome is all about—great people inviting you into their lives and sharing their local knowledge. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this to anyone. It was really convenient to be just 15 minutes from downtown Lunenburg, which has a lot to offer. Great biking, hiking and kayaking in the area as well.
Our 25 foot travel trailer was a tight fit, so I would not recommend anything larger than that.
This is an amazing place with great hosts. The property is more than I imagined and the dogs are fun.
Best place for a quiet stay!
Lovely host, we would have love to spend more time there!!
Boys what a peaceful place and great hosts. Had a wonderful evening by the ocean. Quiet and best night sleep with only the odd fog horn once in awhile but very low.
As driveways go, this one is hiding a coastal gem! Toss in warm hosts, fun fur babies, and some Florida sunshine (we brought that!) and a great visit with new "old" friends was born. We'd suffer a do-over ;-)
M and Ms HRay represent the picture that i had of the Nova Scotia People, welcoming, friendly, and simple. They hosted us like we were part of family. We shared precious moment. Hope seing you at our sugar shack.
What a wonderful spot, thank you for having us. Would love to have stayed to look around as you invited but the weather didn’t cooperate. Would love to visit this spot and this very welcoming couple again. Nova Scotia is so beautiful. Cheers
