Friendly, easy-going bunch/Cowboy folk! The property is large and has a few spots to select depending on your rig and personal choice plus the ability to move the rig into some tight spots if you want a good view. We ourselves have a 40' Motorhome and a Truck with a 30' travel trailer totals over 50', that we have no problems turning around once into the property. The front field in September hosts a good number of horse trailers/riders every September long weekend. This weekend we don't take Boondockers, as we are full. We have had over 30 horses walking the trails of the property.
Horseback riding, Farming, Wi-Fi if needed. Tools to help fix small repairs.
We currently have 4 horses and a Cow. Pets are welcome but must be well-behaved. No barking at animals or chasing anything on the property. Horse riders can be thrown from a horse when this happens, hurting the rider and horse. At times we do travel with the horses, but normally only to horse welcome camps.
We have been boondocking to the East Coast. Every spot we selected was very good. The people are always friendly and accommodating. We had large spots that you could move any rig into and we had some that were interesting to get into. We even had a couple of locations that were better than a campground as we had full hook-up.
Ayton, Ontario. A small town with an old Mill that still can be seen in town. Mostly Farmers in the area. There are also lots of Golf courses in the area also.
25’ travel trailer with a GMC pickup to tow.
We had had a long day and I put my feet up and sleep through our guests " were here" text. Thankfully they drove in okay even though we had about 12 hrs of rain. Its nice to see travellers sharing their love for the road with their parents. I feel like we could gave chatted for many more hours. Maybe some day we can visit their Host location.
Wasn’t home at the time but my neighbours told us they were very nice and quiet.
Very quick visit. Glad to provide a free spot for them to camp and they didn’t even trip the 15 amp breaker. Passed the test of a true camper that can camp without all the amenities
Excellent to communicate with, and a conscientious guest. I'm looking forward to seeing his property at some point in time. Highly recommended.
We love it when people come to enjoy our spot and explore what the area has to offer. These two were fun to have around and we enjoyed some appropriately distanced social time including an evening walk with our dog. They even made an extended paddle into town (probably close to four hours...).
Very considerate and extremely well organized and obviously experienced. We hope to see them again in the future!
We thoroughly enjoyed this happy couple at Mapleview. We spent Friday night sitting as a group together with a nice social get together.
We even discovered our grandson and their son work together.
Fantastic couple to host. We hope to see you return
Pleasant guests, they had a busy agenda so we didn’t have much of a chance to visit.
They seemed to enjoy their exploration here in our area.
We would welcome them back any time.
The Butler's were definitely tired when they arrived
Very respectfull & quiet peoples
The Butler's you are easy guest, when ever you are in area, please stop by !
Helene & Francois
We only had a short visit with Ron and Nancy and Earl and Betty but they are welcome back anytime
We were pleased to meet the Butlers. The time they spent with us was quite short, but it was quality time. They enjoyed our driveway and our Village. We would like for them to come back anytime and wish them safe travels. They were warm, friendly folks!
It was a short and sweet pit stop. I hope next time we will have time to exange. Have a nice and safe trip.
Nice friendly couple who enjoy what this old guy likes to do, visit the Mississippi Coast, eat at the casino buffet, and walk the nice little artsy town. Great having company to share the experience. They too like City Park and Audubon Park in New Orleans, my favorite spots. Welcome to visit anytime to escape the cold weather in the north.
Ron and his son and their friend had booked a days riding with Trial Tours in the Ganaraska forest, they stayed here last Friday to ride Saturday. They had a long journey and arrived late so it was dark and they wanted to rest so we got them set up and settled pretty quick in the dark. Never heard a peep from them and they were gone early in the morning with nothing left behind. Seemed like real nice folks would be happy to have them back in the future.
This is the first return visit to a BW location and we cannot thank TheButlers enough for another excellent weekend. We went with the intention of visiting and staying for the weekend and not with the intention of just a stopover to another location. It was the ideal getaway such that we could enjoy their well maintained property (forests, trails, pond) and also simply visit them again. Our kids had a great time fishing and they allowed us to bring our own paddleboards. We look forward to the next time we can visit them again!
Owner greeted us and showed us where to park RV
we did the walking trail around the pond and enjoyed seeing some of the wildlife in the bush.
Looking forward to staying another time.
Nice hosts and a nice location next to a pond. Very quiet. Will return if we're in the area again.
Great hosts, we enjoyed talking to the Cowboy, and seeing the cows and horses again.
The pond is amazing and we felt like home here.
Hope to come back again next year.
Not only that their place is gorgeous (it is literally a resort!),
the time we spent with the Butler family was really special.
It is hard to describe all the goodness in this one comment box, but we have to say we had the best time. We can't thank them enough.
Their welcoming and friendly vibes inspired us a lot, and we left their place with our heart full of love.
We would definitely love to go back and see them again.
And when we start hosting in near future, we would love for them to come too :)
Thank you so much, the Butler family...!
Owner met us in the pouring rain to guide us to our sport. Perfect view of their personal lake. Unfortunately we were not able to stay as planned and had to pack up early in the morning and head out. Hopefully we can come again and enjoy the area.
Due to COVID travel restrictions in Ontario, we had to reschedule so many times yet the Butlers were so accommodating and fast to respond. We knew before we came that we would be in for a great stay! They were so welcoming and showed us their horses and cows. We made use of their many trails for hiking/exploring and definitely the pond for fishing (catch and release!). Our kids (grade school) had a blast and we will definitely be back again in the future!
People like the Butlers really make Newbies like us believe in the power of BDW and how wonderful people can be to complete strangers!
Great people on a great property. Very quiet with beautiful sunsets. A true cowboy and gracious hosts. Lots of fun in an interesting neck of the woods. Can't wait to go back!
This was our inital introduction to the aspect of Boondocking. Our time at TheButlers proved to be an excellent start with our Host provinding exact directions to their country location, and contact information. We were welcomed in person, and directed to a parking location that provided us with the scenery and quietness that was much appreciated after driving most of the day. We were invited to use the trails that circled the spring fed pond. Upon hearing of our interest in farms animals, our Host escorted us out to the pasture to get close with the horses. Would we return? Yes.
Exceeded expectations - quiet vast property, trails, horses, pond, and interesting, friendly hosts. Thanks so much.
Really enjoyable stay with the Cowboy.
We really enjoyed the wildlife, lots of woods right on the property to hike, with a very large pond. It felt like we were up at the lake !!!
He had 4 horses, a couple of cows, 2 geese, 7 goslings, and fish.
We also seen deer and a mommy fox.
I tried fishing in his stocked pond, and caught several small fish, catch and release of course, and it was fun.
bass and trout.
Upon arrival the Cowboy helped us hook up water and 15amp hydro, and also helped us back our trailer into a nice spot.
We would highly recommend this stay, and would love to return in the near future.
Our recent stay at the Butlers was very enjoyable, we were met by the host and he made sure we were all setup.
Over our stay we were fortunate to have some great conversations and had a guided tour of the wonderful property.
this stop will definitely be on our list for a return visit
Thank You a whole lot for the time we spent with the Host. We enjoyed our stay and we are happy to have
made a new FRIEND.
Very welcoming guests .
Beautiful pond on a horse farm ... they allowed us to drive one of their ATVs and have us a tour of their property .
Took us to feed the horses .
Let us use their paddle boat on the pond.
This was a great spot and a very friendly host. From the time we arrived until we left our host was very friendly and the location was terrific. Nice walking trails to just sitting with a view of the pond was very relaxing. Hope we get the chance to go back. Thank you for a great spot.
Very accommodating host. Bob made sure everything was in order for us when we got there. With his help we got the paddle boat out on the lake. A beautiful location. 2nd time around, loved every minute here.
Excellent time here, very hospitable family. Very warm welcome in spite of social distancing. Helped us get set up in the best way possible. Beautiful property and animals. They shared lots of travel stories and life experiences. A true cowboy that rides horses.(not sure why people who ride HORSES are called COWboys). Will definitely return again!
We had the fortune of a repeat visit to TheButlers. The peace and quiet of this country property, the ability to walk on groomed trails that led to beautiful sites after every turn, and of course getting to sit around and chat with one of the best host we have come across.
If anyone is looking for a place to decompress, or meet new and interesting hosts then I cannot suggest this location enough. There are plenty of things to do in and around the area from wineries, breweries, golfing and dancing just to name a few and only minutes away from town in case there is anything you need.
When we left we felt like we were leaving as friends rather than just Host and Guest. A heartfelt thank you goes out to TheButlers for the special treat you provided. I hope Mac got extra oats for putting up with me.
The Butler's were very friendly and welcoming. They offered us multiple locations that we could Boondock. We enjoyed the trails and appreciate the time they took out of their day to let us visit the horses. We would go again with no hesitation.
I am just receiving your notice as we have been away camping at a remote location with no internet, which is not uncommon in Northern Ontario. Not sure if you looked at our driveway but we already have a trailer there for now and the grass was far too wet to park. You seemed a bit bothered staying at a Wal Mart tho we have two. We have travelled well in excess of 150 k miles and we too have had had to spend time there. Perhaps you shall fare better in the future.
By the way we are original Boondocker members. Safe travels
