My wife and I love to travel. We frequently use off-campground places enroute to our destination.
Not many personal skills but I KNOW PEOPLE.
We don’t have pets.
WalMart.... Restuarants.... Occasionally truck stops....Churches....museums...shopping centers...marinas....small airports...Looking forward to meeting folks who offer places here on BDW.
Shelby, NC is a town of about 25000 nestled in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. Come visit the new Earl Scruggs Museum...he was born about a mile from where we live. We're only 12 miles from the Freightliner Service Center...and, if you're not aware, they have campsites available there (Water & Elec..community dump station). We're maybe an hour or slightly more from Charotte, NC and the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Charlotte Panthers football, etc., Asheville, NC, Lake Lure, Lake Norman, Lake James, and many more great places. We're known for two food items around here: World Class BBQ, and Livermush (OK some of our residents don't indulge in the Livermush) Be sure to put the annual Livermush Expo on your calender. Speaking of livermush... livermush sandwiches are available in the concession stand at the American Legion World Series held in August...5 days of great baseball with teams from all over the US competing. A month after that, our county fair is a huge happening: once the largest county fair in the world...it's fun for all ages. Plenty to do...come on down!
We now have a 2000 Marathon motorhome/H3-45/Series 60. It is nice on the road and supremely comfortable with all its features. We tow a Honda CRV with an RVI brake system and a BlueOx tow bar. The picture was taken on a trip we made in the summer of 2014...22 states and 2 Canadian Provinces. It shows "Crowfoot Glacier" on the Icefields Parkway in Alberta. Beautiful country! Since then, we've been to Alaska (2017)....absolutely great trip.
Tcamperman was a great host. The location is great. We were provided information on things to see and do in town. Our next location cancelled us but Tcamperman provided us the opportunity to stay an additional day without hesitation. Thanks for the hospitality!
This is a wonderful host. A great location
I needed to just have some quiet time to decompress ... this host was very accommodating for me. Very nice.
You won’t find nicer people anywhere. Tom and Dorothy treated us like family as soon as we got there. I offered to help with anything they needed, and Tom said, we don’t need anything but what can we do for you. We would never drive through NC without stopping by to see these two wonderful people. We feel lucky to have met them.
We stayed in late April 2018. Great location for stopping and doing day trips with our motorcycle . Tom has great ideas for bike rides, and eating places. Dorthy is sweet and fun to talk with. We enjoyed learning about their motor home travels and experiences. When we first arrived we missed their driveway and Tom was very quick to come out and redirect us back to their place. We will be back. Theres more bike roads to explore and more stories to hear. Yes Tom, I made it all the way back to Ontario riding the Spider with no rain.
This is a lovely country spot, yet close to the interesting town of Shelby. Tom and Dorothy are a fun couple, very sweet and charming. We missed their driveway - Tom came out quickly with his pick-up and directed us back around the block to his place. Tom told us about a local BBQ that has been around for 80 years. Yum, yum. We spent 2 wonderful nights with them and wished we stayed for a week. Tom gave us directs for great motorcycle rides as he as rode bikes all his life too. Tom and Dorothy invited us to a Blue Grass music event at a very interesting southern Church. Tom has a wealth of knowledge and experience with motor homes. He is also a pretty good gardener by the locks of their property. We will be back next year and hopefully will be able to spend more time with them. Thank you both for such a great fun stay. Howard & Cathy
These Boondocker Hosts were wonderful, friendly, kind and just plain old amazing folks! We had 50 amps and water end even though we didn't use it they had a sewage dump nearby. Where we stayed on their property was well away from their home making for wonderful privacy for us. We went to church with them on Sunday after finding out we had that in common. We were so blessed by the Worship there and are very thankful to them for inviting us. We ate dinner with them our last night and enjoyed several hours of fellowship and eating! They are truly a great couple who love RVing like we do. If we are ever back in that area we will definitely be back there visiting with them. There is a lot to do around the area and they will be glad to share all that info with you.
Our family of 8 stayed on Tommy's property for a few nights and he was such a wonderful host! The location was great and Tommy went above and beyond in accommodating us. We were very blessed to have had him as a host.
