The Refuge - Natural Habitat for Humans

Do you know or have you hosted this user?

The Refuge is our 4.5 acre property on the Key Peninsula, about 90 minutes SW of Seattle. It is currently a beautiful piece of undeveloped land, where we live in our two large RVs. We're working to install all the usual services, but for now, we have just dry camping in peaceful natural splendor to offer.

Stef and Dave met when they were both single full-time RVers. We came together through the matchmaking efforts of our six pet sugar gliders (the marsupial version of flying squirrels), and have been traveling as a caravan ever since. Two extra-lovable border collies round out our little family unit.

Our interests include travel and boondocking (of course), off-grid living, rock hounding, video games, blogging, photography and video production, gardening, making music, getting crafty and creative, and sampling the many fine varieties of recreational herb available legally in Washington. We're a little introverted and tend not to be very social, but we can't resist a chat with interesting people.

TheRefuge's Pets

Charlie and Chelsea are our border collies, and they love the love! They roam freely around the property and eagerly welcome pets and belly-rubs. They play well with other friendly dogs, although Chelsea can be a little standoffish at first.

We also have six sugar gliders, who live inside only. They are the cutest creatures you could ever hope to meet! Sugar Squadron is a family of four leucistic (white) gliders. Mrs. Frisbee and Justin are the parents of Arrow and Athena. Our two classic gray gliders are Yoda and Winky.

They're nocturnal and tend to sleep most of the day, but if you want to meet them, they'll happily wake up for a treat!

TheRefuge's Hometown

Longbranch, Washington, on the beautiful Key Peninsula is a tiny little town, about 30 minutes from Belfair or Gig Harbor, and about 90 minutes from Seattle. There are two state parks nearby (one only two miles away) with beach access. Longbranch is a rural community with a gas station, grocery, post office, and restaurant. More services about 15 minutes away.
