65 years old. Earned BS+MS degrees. Worked 32 years for the state of Oregon as a fish research scientist. Now travelling USA during three month trips twice annually for the last three years. Wife Barbara earned BA degree in college. She worked in real estate while raising two sons, and is very involved as a volunteer in our community.
We have really enjoyed travelling around the USA, meeting local people and learning more about our great country, local history, and local issues.
Willing to share information on travel experiences in areas that may be of interest to hosts. Willing to help host with a task or two that needs muscle.
Last pet passed away in 2018. Miss her very much.
Rural/ small town areas greatly favored along with National parks, National monuments, National forests, Bureau of Land Management lands, US Army Corps of Engineers lakes, and Boondockers Welcome sites.

I stopped by to check in and we had a nice chat until after dark. Great guests.
We enjoyed have Tom and Barbara as our guests. They are enthusiastic, interesting, and warm couple. We had a very pleasant visit with them.
Communication prior to their arrival was spot on!
Congenial folks genuinely interested in people, the area, and history, seeing and doing as much outdoors as possible.
We had such engaging conversations with them, we almost didn’t let them leave...and I think we got them to say they'd come back for a longer stay next time.
Hope to meet again when they are back this way or when we are out their way, until then, adios, happy and safe travels!
They stayed at our location for one night. They were respectful of our property and quiet guests.
Barbara and Tom were the consummate guests. They arrived when they said they would and were a joy to have around. We even tried to get them to stay another night, but they had other commitments. If they're ever back in the north east again, we hope they stop again to visit.
We had a short overnight visit with this couple. They were pleasant and really appreciative of the gardens!
We enjoyed hosting Tom and Barb. Tom is very inquisitive and we enjoyed conversing with people genuinely interested in the history of a region so far from home. We hope to look them up in there home country if we get out that way.
Great communications. Very friendly folks! Unfortunately we were headed out the next day ourselves and were in the midst of our own travel plans so didn’t have much time to chat. They would be welcome back any time.
Very nice couple. Only stayed one night, but did come in the house for a little while so we could all visit. I offered amenities but all they needed was the gas grill for grilling steaks. Would have them over again.
Sent notice for expected arrival. Arrived and they were warm and friendly. They offered to help with any chores I might need help with, although I had none - it was noted and appreciated. We spent a wonderful evening talking and laughing - it was sad when darkness arrived and we needed to retire.
Bottom line - If you get a chance to invite this couple for a visit - treat yourself!
Of course they would be welcome back anytime - thanks for the visit!
These were the perfect guests in every way. Even if Tom hadn't worked to troubleshoot my coach battery, I would still call them the perfect guests. He spent a great deal of time dismantling, checking voltage, and explain his recommendations. I appreciate his help so much.
Thank you for the interesting conversation and all the help. Happy and safe travels and hope to meet again.
Unfortunately they came on a night where we had plans so we didn't get much time to talk and get to know each other. But from the brief conversation I had, he and Barbara seem like a very nice couple and we'd be happy to have them come back for a longer visit.
Kept in contact regarding their arrival time. Very interesting to talk to and left our site as they found it. Could not ask for better boondockers.
Wonderful people, really enjoyed our conversation. You are always welcome here.
I got pulled away by life's vagaries n never got to meet 'em. They're still welcome back.
We have been blessed this summer with terrific guests, and Tom_Satterhwaite added themselves to out list. They are just flat out congenial people and the kind of folks we'd love to have again. In addition, he assisted me with some prep work (caulking and scraping) for an ongoing painting project. What a pleasant surprise!
Nice folks.. we enjoyed a nice game of chess (I lost).. welcomed back anytime...
What a lovely couple to grace us with their presence here at BaseCamp! Very happy & polite! Considerate & Tidy rig!!! Oh & spot on with their ETA!!! Would highly recommend hosting them...hope to see them return!
Excellent conversation. Shared info and tips. Learned a lot. It was a pleasure hosting yall down here at cajun country.
