We are retired college professors living on five acres in the country at about 4200' of elevation. Besides traveling, we are active in Rotary and other community organizations. We enjoy birding and have identified over 100 species on our property. We have very dark skies for observing the stars. We are also authors. The link to our Amazon page is below. We have lots of room for any size, water connections, and a place to dump your tanks. We are located about 8 miles off I-10 about 50 miles west of the Arizona/New Mexico border.
We have a lot of skills, including all aspects of construction, hunting, fishing, sewing, astronomy, film, photography, computers, and a lot more.
We have a dog, which is not allowed to run loose, an indoor cat, four hen chickens, several turtles and a lot of fish in our ponds.
Mt. Graham, AZ and various national forest sites.
Winnebago Minnie Winnie.
The Nolan‘s are a most interesting couple who are well-rounded on a myriad of subjects and a joy to have a conversation with aside from the fact that they are extremely generous with their facilities. I had a wonderful stay feeling very private and yet open to socializing. Highly recommend. Thanks so much Nolan’s. I look forward to spending time with you in the future.
My wife and I needed a couple of days of rest from our FT traveling cross country. Usually our travel days consist of about 200 miles a day. However, we encountered a very strong headwind crossing the southern part of New Mexico into Arizona and the wind continued to slow us down. We needed a place of refuge to rest before continuing our journey.
We Boondock whenever possible. As we searched our options, an oasis stood out on our route, Freeholder is the place. Our home away from home.
We kept in communication to insure a timely safe arrival. The host texted use promptly with greetings & instructions. We were met at the entrance and guided to the exact spot for our awaited stay.
If you decide to visit, make sure to follow their directions for a safe and accurate arrival. A wonderful place to visit. We hope to come again.
Thank you, Freeholders for your embracing hospitality. God bless you and family.
Close to the interstate easy in and out. We had hook ups just as stated. We stopped for one night.
We didn't stay long because of our plans, but the hosts was very helpful and kind.
We had an excellent experience for our 1st BW stay. We were greeted by a family member who directed us to the parking spot, in the shade, which is important in AZ. The 30 Amp electric was good, the site wa
s flat and it was quiet. We hope to stay there again when traveling in the area.
All the amenities were just as the description said. Very peaceful atmosphere. They had water, electric, and a dump station. Dog-friendly area while on-leash. Nice to walk the dogs on the driving path that went around the property. Very easy to pay—just put cash in mailbox. And they had 2 large dumpsters for trash. Really simple. And great views of the mountains (especially at sunset and sunrise).
Very welcoming. A great spot to park with services if needed, shade, and for us this day, shelter from the wind! A great BW stay. Lots of nature to enjoy, beautiful dark sky, quiet restful sleeping. Easy to find.
Easy/fast communication, The town is surrounded by beautiful mountains. Nice level site with water and 30 amp electric. Future visitors stop at Double S steak house for a wonderful meal near Walmart before driving out to Freeholder property. We left for western AZ by doing nice secondary roads thru the gorgeous Coronado Nat'l Forest.
thank you very much, dale and maggie
While visiting Chiricahua National Monument we were looking for a quiet safe place to stay for a night. We found it at Nolan's acres. What a nice couple! Our request to stay was answered promptly and someone came out to greet us and show us where to park. And there were 2 other RV's there for a stay also. We were able to visit (from a social distance) and compare notes of what to visit in the area with other RVers. For anyone traveling through the Wilcox area, Nolan's Acres is a comfortable place to stay.
This is a great spot in a rural setting with several outdoor activities within a reasonable drive. We were able to enjoy Chirachaua National Park, Fort Bowie National Monument, enjoyed a local tractor/truck pull and spent sometime in historic downtown. This was our first BW site and we couldn't be more pleased. The hosts were very accommodating allowing us to stay an additional day as they had an opening and we were waiting on a package to arrive. Has all the hookups one would need. We were able to use Verizon and Tmobile here so we didn't need to use their wifi. We slept well while here and would definitely stay again if we were in the area.
This was our 2nd time staying here and we are so thankful for the place to rest as we had many travel days before us. We took our boys to the Chiracahua National Monument and they loved exploring it.
Thank you, again, for your hospitality during our stay.
Very grateful to Freeholder for this perfect stopover. Excellent location convenient to I-10, minutes from town and all necessities, and then 35miles from Chiricahua National Monument for fantastic hiking. Freeholder has created a bird and wildlife sanctuary in the desert. We enjoyed great conversations and excellent communications. Friendly family, dog & cat! Wish we could have stayed longer.
We had a great stay at Nolan’s Acres. Our site had a great mountain sunset view with water and 30 amp service. Also used the dump site. Bill was super responsive, and we enjoyed a short visit with them. Lots to do in the area. We stayed for 3 nights. Highly recommend this host and the Willcox area.
We had a productive stay (we booked to get some work done). This was perhaps one of the most level and easy spots to pull into yet. Communication was outstanding and we were very comfortable. A sincere thank you to the hosts!
Hosts couldn’t have been nicer and more hospitable! The boon docking site was perfect! Thus the POSITIVE classification. Verizon was not. A good Verizon connection, meaning capacity, in this case, is needed for my husband to work on the road. It just wasn’t there when needed, so we had to move on.
We also realized, after the fact, that Chiricahua National Monument, where we hoped to hike several times, was further away than led to believe.
In our opinion, Nolan’s Acres would be an ideal place to overnight!
We enjoyed the night we spent at this host’s site. Nice level spot. Available fire ring with wood, but we did not use it. Good communication - the host responded to our request in less than 1 hr. Directions to the site were very good. Would stay again.
Our host gave our 40’ class A a nice long $ wide level spot behind the outbuildings, which for our stay gave break to high winds. The location is so very quiet and peaceful, with desert views out the other side.
Enjoyed the quiet desert with my own private spot out back. Along with 30 amp and water hookups. The Hosts were available for any questions.
Stay was cut short one night because of heavy wind warnings on I-10 for the next few days. Sites were level and water and electric available along with sewer dump. Enjoyed watching the rabbits playing in the morning and bird sightings. Slept really well.
50 amp service was great on a hot day. Also needed water because our next stop was Picacho State Park in Arizona and they had no potable water, this water was very good. We didn’t use the dump but great to have it there for their guests! Nice little campfire area set up but there was a burn ban in effect. Near a road but not a busy road. Slept well. Great for an overnight stay.
Hostess was very welcoming and accommodating, thank you so much for your hospitality.
Nice central location to visit surrounding area. The host site was well thought out with ample spaces between other guests. The only negative was a neighbor dog barked constantly all night long.
Many, many thanks to the Nolans for hosting me after a long journey from St. Louis. I got to decompress in the quiet of their wonderful property, in view of the mountains and under a canopy of stars. Thank you so much! I’ll be back soon!
Great spot for a day of rest. Had a view of nothing but brush and mountains and that’s what I needed. Good communication before and after the visit. Read the directions! They are spot on. Thanks!
...because you know, shining the light on this great place may impact the availability and your chance to stay again.
To us, the greatest value of BdW is safety, followed by amenities and a view. This place has it all. Generous hosts have a 30 amp hookup, water and dump site, if you need it. The allocated space is completely flat and hidden from the road. It looks out over the mountains and beautiful sunsets. What more could you want? A big thank you to the Nolan family for sharing their space. We will definitely return.
Very accommodating sites; water, power and a dump site for when you leave. The location has several fire pits that are setup with benches and wood. Nice view of the mountains and wow the night stars are great. Thank you!!!!
Our stay was very peaceful and relaxing. Doc and I appreciate you letting us stay on your property. Thank you very much
Freeholder’s property is flat, level and very easy to access even with our 40’ motorhome and 22’ car trailer. We drove in and were set up in 15 minutes. However, the wind was something else! We were there in March, apparently the windy season. We ended up not staying the night as the dust that was whipped up was too much for us. We traveled north another couple of hours to get out of the wind. Would like to stay again with Freeholder in another season.
Excellent at communicating and very accommodating. Definitely would recommend staying here anytime passing through.
Loved staying at Nolan's Acres! Close to town for gas and groceries. Nice and dark for us star gazers too! Loved it! Thanks so much for hosting! :)
Very easy stay...great to have the water and electric hookups, and also a dump available. Nice location. Thanks for a great stay!
Good place. Easy access. Power and water. Dump available too. Will stay again.
Very good communicators and helpful and friendly upon arrival!
With a beautiful mountain backdrop, Nolan’s Acres provided a great base camp for four days of hiking at Chiricahua National Monument. Water was provided for our tank and electricity was made available for our entire stay.
Nolan’s Acres is out in the middle of desert land. Beautiful mountain views. When the brush is in bloom it’s probably amazing all around.
Wonderful place if you like peace and quiet! The hosts were pleasant and helpful. Some short-term and some long-term guests. Everyone kept quiet and kept to themselves, but they were polite and friendly in passing. Great place for birding! Would not recommend this place for kids, unless they are the quiet reserved type. Wildlife habitat so follow the rules and leave everything as you found it. Loved it. Would stay again!
Freeholder was a fantastic host. They had a long extension cord, the parking was very level.
Thank you for a wonderful stay! Views of the mountains and the sweet sound of chittering birds was so lovely!
We are grateful for the respite:)
Just a totally awesome stay Great Host very Friendly. Beautiful spot very peaceful lots of birds to go along with wonderful sunset and night sky. We’ll be back if possible. Thank You so much! We had a great stay. : $
Seems like we’re making this an annual visit. It’s a great stop over between El Paso and Phoenix. Easy access from I-10. Loved seeing the mountains and this time we had great clear weather! 🤠🤗
A lovely rest, just what I needed. Gracious hosts, 30 amp, and privacy. Would definitely visit again if in the area. Thank you!
Great host. Amazing space, and a most gracious host with a peaceful environment.
Had a wonderful time staying on Nolan’s Acres :) our 36ft 5th wheel had no trouble getting to our spot on a nice big rounded driveway.
They were friendly hosts, and our site had power and water hookups if needed which was awesome.
We also got to experience the local wintering Sandhill cranes flying over the site daily.
Thank you guys for the lovely stay!
Nice host, easy location to get to with convenient water and electric.
Nice quiet stay with great amenities and nearby grocery. Very friendly people. We would definitely stay again if in the area.
We had a great time at Nolan’s acres. Their property is on a quiet road out of town, really easy to find and access. They have several spots available and all off a circular driveway so really easy to get into. We were in a spot that had 30amp electric and water hook up, and there is a dump station available that we swung by on the way out. The property is a wildlife haven and we were surrounded by birds and loved to hear the birdsong. As others have mentioned the property is currently in the flight path of a sandhill crane colony so you may see them fly over once a day. There’s a gas station just down the road that sells local pinto beans, milk and paletas. All the services in town, including a good laundromat, are 10-15 mins away. The hosts had a lot going on the week we were there so we really appreciate that they still hosted us, they said it was because they love to do it and you can tell this is true. Thank you.
Freeholder has a great location whether passing through the area or holding up for a few days to explore. Beautiful view out our back window looking at Mt Graham and the international observatory on top. Optimal place to visit Fort Bowie, Chiricahua National Monument, many wonderful wineries and many other nearby opportunities. Did not get a chance to visit with the host and hope he is home form the hospital and doing well.
Our host was gracious and suggested a stop which is amazing! Would recommend this host
My sister and I got there later than expected and was greeted by our hostess who was super friendly!
We arrived just as the sun was setting (thankfully). Our host met us as we arrived and showed us to our site. It was a 30A site located right behind the house, but we did not need to plug in or the use water. The site was very level. There were two other campers on the property with us. We used a little wifi and tossed some trash in the dumpster as we were leaving, so we left a small contribution.
Our boys and I enjoyed a walk around the property listening to the birds and exploring while Husband un-hitched and opened up the camper before dinner.
The gem of this location is the beautiful night sky! We were lucky to have a beautiful, clear night and saw a full sky of stars! This was our first experience with BW as we travel East and we were delighted!
Very peaceful, quiet and secluded stay. Host greeted us and showed us around, where to hook up, etc. Definately recommend this host for a restful stay.
With the exception of the weather it is a very nice place to stay and they where very accommodating. Would love to visit again next time through.
Freeholder was a great host, and we loved our stay on his nature preserve. It was a treat to see a seemingly endless migration of Sandhill Cranes against a landscape surrounded by mountains during the day and brights stars at night. Enjoyed our trips to Chiricahua & Bisbee that weren't too far from the property. We'll have to take advantage of the fire pit next time!
Easy access, friendly and accessible hosts. Even had a wifi booster. Nice quiet location, good base camp for birding or other outdoor activities in the area.
I parked buy a building which you'd think was bad...but i was able to pull forward into the spot where my kitchen and living area were in view of the surrounding mountains, both sides of my RV! A circle dirt drive around is great to walk and meet neighbors if they're outside. Sandhill crains were flying back and forth midmorning and mid-afternoon. Nice noise bird calls when this happens. Wish i had better video equipment lol! Thank you for this opportunity to see these wonders, to me, views!
Our site was right next to the buildings in the picture. Thankful for the protection since it rained and the wind came up in the night. The morning was quiet and beautiful. Excited to see and hear several flocks of cranes flying overhead! Sorry we didn't get to visit with Freeholder on our one night stay.
This was our second time passing through this area and another great stay. Some of the best host out there, very gracious! Very spacious, plenty of room for bigger rigs and quiet. We will see you guys again on our next pass through the area! Stay safe.
This was a great stay to pass through or stay for a long time. Thanks for being a great host
We stayed one night and enjoyed our stay. The property was beautiful and Freeholder was an excellent host. Highly recommend!
Best location for a trailer if you want to hike the trails at Chiricahua National Monument.
Also, great location for viewing winter roosting of Sandhill Cranes.
Have a Safeway grocery store and several truck stops in town about 8 miles away.
Great location to start our site seeing in Arizona. Host were welcoming and handed out useful information about things to see and do. Beautiful sunsets and really quite at night. My son learned some interesting facts about chickens and turtles. Would definitely stay again if our thus way
Our host is a well-educated person, knowledgeable in many areas, he's really fun to speak with. The site has great mountain views in all directions and was very peaceful. Highly recommend Nolan's acres!
Thank you for being an oasis. Be well and Happy New Year
Freeholder is the perfect host. Sadly, Covid sensitivities kept us away from some great “by the fence” and fire pit conversations. Beautiful location. Thank you for sharing.
Hosts were kind, accommodating, and the property is beautiful. Thanks so much! Have a blessed new year.
The Freeholder's have been nothing but friendly and gracious - I would recommend there little piece of paradise wholeheartedly!
Thank you for the stay. We missed chatting with you and visiting your sweet dog and cat. I remember then so well from last year.
Hopefully next year we will have a chance to socialize.
Happy New Year!
Host was wonderfully accommodating and someone I'd love to sit around a campfire and talk with. It's a popular spot, and he worked a virtual tetris game to find space that worked well for multiple boondockers. Definitely recommend a stay if you're in the area. Thank you!
This was our second stay here. It was a busy night with 6 rigs in total, but he was able to make room for us and even was able to get us some electric for the night. Thanks for helping us out with a spot for the night!
This was a fine place for us to stay for one night on our way through the area. The hosts were able to accommodate us at the last minute, despite having other BW guests there too.
Beautiful location, quite and peaceful. Host was extremely nice and helpful. Wonderful book as well bought the first book and look forward to the rest of the series. Would love to stay again.
Thank you for having us!!
Nolans is a beautiful place to stay with very welcoming hosts. 10 outta 10, I would recommend.
These hosts were the best! There above and beyond my expectations to make sure that I had everything I needed. The location was great. Got in a good bicycle ride. Easy access from the interstate. I highly recommend this host.
We had a great time staying here. It's just off I10 and right where we needed it!
Nolan's Acres was a lovely peaceful area. Easy to get in and out. The host was warm and welcoming, gifting us homemade jelly 🤗
We highly recommend!
The Freeholder was very accommodating. I really appreciate the opportunity to stay and I hope I can come back soon.
Wonderful host, easy in and out. Fantastic views!! Enjoyed chatting with host. Picked up great photography tips as well.
Just a lovely and peaceful night’s stay. We left as we did before, wishing we were here longer. Nolan’s acres also has a couple fire pits and seating areas that were not here on our first visit. We had a nice time bird watching as the sun was setting, a bit too cold for a fire so we mostly stayed in our rig. Our host met us out front and showed us where to hook up. They are great at practicing distancing during the pandemic. We really enjoyed our brief stay and hope to stay again for a bit longer some time. The best to both of you and thanks again so much.
What a wonderful host & location. Bill is a great communicator, very accommodating. His property is perfectly set up for several rigs & offers power if needed. Now we can't wait to read his science fiction!
Friendly and knowledgeable couple live in a rural part of Arizona surrounded by various mountainous areas;
Dos Cabezas and Mount Graham are two I remember that are beautifully visible from the property. The name "Mount Graham" is often used by locals to refer to the entire mountain range. The peak itself is frequently referred to as "High Peak" and has the Mount Graham Observatory on it. If you stay during nights where the moon does not light up the sky you can see many beautiful stars and constellations. The property is a Certified Wildlife Preserve and many birds, rabbits, and other indigenous animals were spotted. Sand Hill Crane flocks flew overhead almost daily. Multiple sites providing water, electricity, and a dumpsite on the property making it a great spot to camp. At least 2 of the sites have a campfire ring and supplied wood. Great stop; peaceful and restorative, I hope to repeat my stay there if I pass this way again!
Hosts were very nice & accommodating. Location was perfect with the amenities we needed and distanced from other Boondockers in respect of me being high risk. Enjoyed the peace & the beautiful scenery. Would request again if we come back that way in future trips. Thank you for a great experience.
Host was accommodating even though he already had 4 other guests and we arrived after dark. Thank you so much.
We had a great time staying at this location. The hosts were very helpful and super nice. It was the perfect location for our first Boondockers Welcome stop.
As advertised, the hosts ware welcoming and made us feel right at home. The property is 8 miles from the freeway and there was plenty of leveled space for our 30 foot rig and toad. As an added benefit, we were able to pug in and stay toasty on a freezing night. We especially valued the extra COVID safety precautions. If you like people, nature and animals, this is the place...
Great host with lots of knowledge! We even bought one of his books on Amazon after speaking with him. Thanks for the hospitality!
I was greeted with a very friendly and helpful host. This location has everything a boondocker could need/want. The location is easy to get to from the interstate. I was fortunate enough to have Thanksgiving with 5 strangers. They were all RVers and so kind. The food was great but to company was ever better. You will not regret staying here. I stayed an extra day it was so go!
Bill & Sara were awesome host! From our intial request to stay until we left, the communication with them was really great & quick. We stayed for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend!!
Theresa & Carole
We were greeted by our host and shown where to park...Sorry to say that we got very little visiting done due to Covid. An interesting beehive in the treetops. Did have an interesting visit with another guest at the site. Nice quiet spot.
10 Stars **********, Super fast responds on my request. In just minuets.
Host was a great introduction to BoonDockersWelcome. The Boss and I thoroughly enjoyed the quiet surroundings and the magnificent night sky. Can’t wait to stop by here and see some more of the local attractions Our host mentioned were in this area.
Our hosts were very accommodating. We had a shady spot with 30 amp hookup. There was also water available and a spot setup for a campfire. Lots of birds around. If you have a long rig, be careful because we drug on the road on the way in and in the driveway on the way out.
Great stay with endless views. Private water and electric hook up and lots of room for the dogs to roam. Great meeting B and share stories and get info about the region. Wishing hopeful results tomorrow !
Host was there to greet us and guide us to a spot to park, as he has a few to choose from. He got us hooked up to power and showed us where the water hook up was. Very convenient and helpful. Wish we could have visited more, but our November stay was a bit windy and rainy to spend any time enjoying the wood stocked fire pit. Location near many museums and wineries to enjoy! Would definitely stay again.
We had a restful night's stay and were pleased to be able to spend an extra night here. Our host was accommodating and encouraged us to explore the area. We went to the Chiricahua National Monument, then to the Willcox Playa. At the playa we saw thousands of Sandhill cranes who use this area as their winter home. I guess you'd call them the original "snowbirds"! We would also recommend Isabel's South of the Border Mexican restaurant in Willcox. And don't forget to check out Apple Annie's Country Store.
After some travel mishaps and getting stuck on the side of the road, Nolan's acres has been a nice, quiet place to stay.
Bill has been very kind and hospitable, even offering his tools as we had to work on tire repairs while here.
We are so grateful!
The hosts were informative and very personable. They had a campfire site provided with stacked wood and”even had Christmas lights! We’d definitely go back again!!
We really enjoyed visiting with the host! The Mountain View’s from the property are breathtaking & the night sky is beautiful! The host had a lovely little fire pit but unfortunately the winds were too high to enjoy it. We highly recommend this spot. Thank You for the hospitality
We had a great time there enjoyed the conversation and the location.
We are grateful to FREEHOLDER for allowing us to stay overnight at NOLAN'S ACRES while providing water and electricity hookups! The host was friendly and engaging, and we hope to come back in the future when we can stay longer to explore the area.
Thank you for the great stay. Thanks for helping out when we ran out of propane.
Bill and Sara are warm, personable, and gracious.
Both are intelligent, informative, and
Great conversationalists. I rec’d factual info with a great place to stay. I enjoyed my stay, Many Thanks!
Greeted by host who communicated clearly and was very welcoming! Beautiful spot to park with electric and water option !:) loved chatting with them too!
I stopped by Nolan's Acres on the trip from Denver to Phoenix, returning home after picking up my first travel trailer! Needless to say, I was a little anxious; of course, I only booked pull-throughs. I enjoyed some great conversations with the hosts, as well as a little ribbing (which I loved), as he witnessed me emptying my black tank for the first time! Truly grateful for the support. The spot I parked in (pictured) was easy to access, with all the amenities, and even a cute fire pit. So bummed that I couldn't stay for the famous Willcox Rodeo, but I was on a mission to get home safely. I am sure that Hot Lips and I will visit again shortly to roast marshmallows at that pit, once the weather cools down! Ciao for now!
This was our first stay at a Boondocker’s Welcome host, and we were treated with kind and helpful hospitality! The space was easy to navigate for our two rigs, and the space offered more than we had time to enjoy. We will definitely stay here if we’re ever passing through again.
Gracious and interesting hosts. And they have groomed their place as an invitation to a variety of birds and wildlife. Enjoyed our mornings of spotting birds and our evenings and chatting with the hosts. Extremely Knowledgeable on the area and where to find whatever it is you’re looking for.
Very helpful. Even water and electricity. He even has a dump station
Thank you for the great stay
Great couple and location. Very welcoming. I left feeling I have two new awesome friends. Very knowledgeable and great conversations makes staying here that much better. Felt more like I was visiting friends rather than boondocking.
We absolutely loved our stay with the Freeholders. They are so sweet and kind. We had fabulous conversations and were able to visit Chiricahua National Monument. Treasured memories made here! Hope we are able to meet up again sometime! We highly recommend this member.
We enjoyed a one-night stay here. The host met us and helped us find a good spot. He is very friendly and knowledgeable, sharing anecdotes about the area and local fauna. We loved watching lots of bunnies and one hare as well as many species of birds with our coffee this morning. We will definitely want to stop when we pass through here again!
Our first stay with BW and it could not have been a better introduction! These hosts are amazing, smart, funny and engaging (but will respect distancing if the camper prefers). Their property is quiet and teaming with nature and wildlife. Beautiful sunsets, sunrises and twinkling stars at night. Hookups were a wonderful plus for those who prefer them. One stop shopping right here! Thanks for a wonderful stay..and so close to our home! We will be back to see you again! This host is HIGHLY recommended:-)
We arrived a lot later than we intended and Freeholder was very understanding. He showed our kids how to find scorpions with a black light and now they are his biggest fan. We would have loved to stay longer if we weren’t on a timeline with somewhere to be. My kids were fascinated with the ants and the other wildlife we could hear/see. Certified wildlife habitat! Highly recommend this stop.
Had an absolutely wonderful time, The hosts were awesome! Stayed an extra day!
The other positive reviews are all true, and then some. Nolan Acres is safe, comfortable, and conveniently located. Electric and water are a much appreciated bonus. As for Freeholder, he and his wife are very gracious hosts. He met us at the gate despite a late arrival, assisted us with parking and ensured we were comfortable with our site before turning in for the evening. He was prompt in responding to communications and helpful throughout our stay without being intrusive. We would stay here again in a heartbeat if given the opportunity. Thank-you for your hospitality!
We had a good night’s sleep at Nolan’s Acres. The stars were out bright. The sunset and sunrise and the mountain vistas were a beautiful combination. We enjoyed our stay. Only wish we’d had more time to socialize.
Due to Covid19 we kept our distance and did not socialize. Too bad. I would have liked to know them better. Very interesting folks from the little interaction I had. But I did enjoy going to the 2 museums in town (nobody else was there on Saturday! and besides very hot in the high 90s). Next day I visited the Chiricahua Natl Monument. Awesome rock formations and found some lifer birds this late in the season. Host has great tasting well water, 30a and WiFi right next to the RV. excellent accomodations. And great dark sky viewing too! thank you so much!
Super communications and directions. Very gracious hosts. Will stay again.
Friendly hosts, plenty of room and full hookups. While other campgrounds were closed, these guys really saved our bacon.
very nice, eager to point you to where to park
We had a restful evening along with a great view of the sunset. Couldn't ask for more than that. Bill was a wonderful host and we enjoyed chatting wirh him.
We are very grateful for the time we were allowed to stay at this great property. During the Covid-19 event, the owners graciously allowed us to stay an extended period of time. What better place could you find with mountain views, fresh air, campfires under the stars, and really great people who have your back? We loved every minute of it, and are especially grateful for the friendship we developed with the owners. Thank you both for everything. :)
The views were amazing and under different circumstances it would have been nice to meet everyone else that was staying there. We stayed in one of his no utility sites.
Very nice place.
In these trying times I feel lucky and fortunate to have found a great location with wonderful hosts. Very thankful, as I know some hosts have closed availability, which is understandable.
Just love staying here. The hosts are so sweet and more than hospitable. The property is so peaceful and the sunsets are beautiful. Wildlife and natural desert landscape all around...a giant great horned owl flew right past our heads one evening when we were sitting by our little campfire. Water, electricity, sewage all on the proporty too... it's a privilege to stay at this tranquil spot.
We found this a great place to stock up and assess the current situation. Friendly hosts with in-depth knowledge of the area. Many thanks.
Very nice couple. It was great to have a place to stay for a few days. Didnt get to talk a lot with them because of what is going on in this world.
Thanks for a great stay.
Last minute booking for due to the virus and decided to honker down for a few weeks. Bill and his wife have been amazing and understanding and the offer to stay for more than a couple of days have relieved a lot of stress for us. Great people and great property. We are very appreciative of their hospitality and graciousness!
The views are a nice bonus:)
Gracious host met us as we drove up and directed us to our spot for the night. Short visit due to Coronavirus and we settled back to enjoy a beautiful sunset. Quiet peaceful spot. Thank you for hosting us in these trying times.
This is an amazing spot. Brilliant sky, cool evening dark and quiet. Sunset was great sunrise was amazing. Looking out over snowcapped mountain. Great little walking trail. Our host was very engaging and very accommodating considering this took place during the coronavirus. We kept our distance and had a nice talk outside. The next time we want to come in and meet for a longer time.
Wonderful, friendly hosts with a wealth of knowledge about the area. Very peaceful. Stayed an extra day due to weather...nice to have hookups during the cold spell. Would stay again
We really enjoyed staying here for a few days and very much appreciated the full hookups ups! Gave our friendly hosts $20 for utilizing their water, electric and sewer. About an hour drive to the gorgeous Chiricahua National Monument. A must see!
We were so pleased to find this place. We originally reserved just 1 night, but ended up staying a 2nd night because it had everything we needed...electric, water, dump, wifi, and a nice, quiet place to sit and work, rest, and sleep. Thank you so much Freeholder, for your hospitality. If we're back in your area, we'd love to stay again.
We had a great time at Nolan's Acres. The hosts were very hospitable. We had a wonderful visit the first night we arrived, then on our third night I was invited over to watch a movie with them. They are interesting people with some great stories to tell. The sites have lots of room with good hookups for power and water. If we're in the area again we will definitely request a stay. Many thanks to the Nolan's!
What an awesome experience! The hosts were friendly and helpful. Our spot was very level and comfortable. We also got the bonus of seeing lots of wildlife. Highly recommended.
We stayed at this boondocking site for 3 nights. Very welcoming hosts - Freeholder even met us at the gate and led us to our spot. We opted for the electric and water hookups site and paid a small stipend in return. These wonderful folks have preserved a natural habitat for the many desert animals and birds in the area and we were able to experience many of them first hand, including a pair of American Kestrel, a hog-nosed skunk, Gambel's quail, rabbits, Pyrrhuloxia and a multitude of other birds at their bird-feeders. We could hear the Sand Hill Cranes, which frequent this area, but only saw them at a distance. This is a lovely quiet spot out in the country and close enough for a day trip to the Chiricahua National Monument. We thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with our very well educated and quite amiable hosts and would love to stay here again the next time we are driving through.
This was our second visit with the Freeholders...... Nice quiet country overnight spot. The hosts are very smart, intelligent people, great local experts, and it is awesome to learn a few new things while traveling...... Always a great experience to stop here.....
Thanks for being part of the "Boondockers Welcome family"
David & Judy
Our site was the furthest from the house and opened to sweeping views of the mountains, desert, and gorgeous sunsets. The host location is very convenient to Chiricahua National Monument (Don't miss it), Tombstone (touristy but fun) and several other places. The tiny town of Willcox is worth a visit as well. But, as with all the good host sites having an excellent pair of hosts makes the visits that much more special. Freeholder are interesting, engaging and helpful. We also met several other guests which also makes for a nice experience.
First time Boondocker’s Welcome experience, all I can say is the bar has been set pretty high. We are so appreciative of the time we spent here enjoying the views of the mountains from the property and listening to the birdsongs. Easy directions, we were met by our host and shown where to park. We had a nice chat and exchanged some travel experiences. Enjoyed our time visiting the local sights and National Monument. Super nice people, we hope we can return to visit soon.
Great place to stop. Very nice hosts and their place is easy in and out. Other guests were super friendly as well. We hope to be back.
What a great location! Freeholder is an excellent host and has quite a lovely property with plenty of room. We did not use the utilities but what a great option, especially if the weather takes a turn, or you simply are not set up with solar. Wilcox seems like a great place with a lot to see... that said, for us the weather took a turn and was colder than we like and also quite windy... too much so for any great rides out exploring on a motorcycle. We opted to stay in and enjoyed the great surroundings with cows, horses and bunnies, birds galore and beautiful views while doing some inside RV maintenance we had been putting off. For us this was a wonderful chance to unwind as we had been visiting family and playing tourist for the past week. We enjoyed meeting the hosts and visiting with them the first evening and again before we left. They are fantastically warm and welcoming. We will be back that way likely once a year so would love to stop over again and explore all that Wilcox has to offer! Thanks for a great place to park!
Really enjoyed our stay at Nolan’s Acres. The hosts, as well as our fellow boondockers, were very friendly, warm and welcoming. The area is a beautiful valley surrounded by gorgeous mountains. Thank you for a wonderful and relaxing stay!
Our host were easy to communicate with, directed us to parking and power upon arrival. Interesting visit with hosts, nice sunset and quiet night. Very popular busy spot with 3 of us leaving the same day and 3 more coming in! Thanks so much a pleasant stopover!
We enjoyed our stay here and it was nice meeting the Hosts. Great wildlife and sunset view. Quiet and spacious. We would love to come back some day. Thank y’all!
Thank you Bill and Sera for a good hosting and a very nice evening at your house.
ANAT AND ILAN STERNBERG.
We so enjoyed getting to know our hosts! We wish we had had another day or two to talk more! 😄
This area of AZ, a large basin ringed in a circle of mountains, had a beauty of its own. The one sunrise we were able to experience was wonderful. In addition, we enjoyed seeing the huge jackrabbits, the covey of quail, and listening to the owl at night was awesome.
We hope we can return here again someday! 🤠
We had requested 2 nights but rained all day first full day. Requested 1 more night and was approved. Great host and very knowledgeable about the area.
Loved listening to the birds singing and the owl at night.
Would definitely stay again.
Easy place to be for a day or two. Very interesting hosts, cute little town, lots of wineries!
Thanks so much for a peaceful stopover on our way east. The pull-through parking and 30 amp hookup was greatly appreciated, and we enjoyed talking with our hosts!
We had a great stay at Nolan's Acres - it was easy to pull in and navigate the property, and the views were spectacular!
Thanks so much for your hospitality!
We enjoyed our stay at Nolan's Acres. Very nice host. Had a flat pull through site with 30 amp electric and water. Will plan to stop by if we are in the area again. Thanks
Had a wonderful stay ... kind and gracious hosts ... peaceful and restful after visits to nearby national parks...will return when back in the area
Great stay with very friendly hosts. We had a 30 amp electric and nice views of the mountains. Thanks for the hospitality.
This place is really quiet. Our hosts are warm and welcoming. The surroundings are beautiful with these fields of crops and ranches.
Gracious hosts. Provided us with info about area for things to do. Convenient location.
Hosts were knowledgeable, kind, and generous. Chiricahua national monument was beautiful beyond description. Our site was private with lots of birds. Did I mention seeing hundreds of sandhill cranes flyover daily. We would happily stay again for another five days to visit with the hosts and see some of the other sights that we did not see on our initial visit.
The location was a nature location which my two small dogs loved. Willcox is filled with history and so much to explore. The best part, my visits with my host family. This is a memory I will cherish and a stop I will most definitely do again.
The best locations on our great nation are usually the roads less traveled. So thankful I found this jewel!
The host was very welcoming and had great information for the sounding area of Wilcox. If you’re looking to rest for the night off of the 10 this will workout great.
Nice hosts. Enjoyed our conversations and learning so much from this accomplished couple.
Really enjoyed Bandit and Allie, the Freeholders’s sweet kids!!
We had a fabulous 3 night stay at this very well equipped host site. A great location for the amazing, must see, Chiricahua National Monument Park and the Bowie Fort state park. Great information and talks with our excellent and very knowledgeable hosts. Highly recommend staying here.
It is the second time we are coming. So a good place ! Quiet and near the i 10 about 8 miles.
Thank you very much host
We enjoyed our stay! They make great hosts and very good coffee as well! We will definitely visit again!
Quiet and dark. Great hosts and very welcoming. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Warmly greeted by our host who promptly helped us to get set up in his spacious acreage. We very much appreciated all the boondockIng amenities that are available at this easy to find location. It was lovely to be invited in to enjoy a hot cup of tea and hot chocolate while visiting with our knowledgeable hosts and fellow Boondocker guest. What a delightful place, we thank you so much!
We had a warm welcome from our hosts (complete with fresh eggs from their hens). This is an interesting and beautiful area, and freeholder gave us great suggestions on places to visit. Not to be missed are Chiricahua National Monument and the wetland roosts of the Sandhill Cranes. Great location and so nice to have 30 amp hookup as it was quite chilly during our visit.
Nolan Acres offered a very quiet (and level) location which was close enough to the Chiricahua National Monument and Fort Bowie. Our hosts were very helpful and knowledgeable with local activities and, even more interestingly, the history. We would definitely be staying here again if we are ever in the area.
Very accommodating, Hosts. We really enjoyed our stay. Convenient spot close to I-10 near attractions.
Our hosts were very nice. They got us settled in quickly and off we went to find something to eat. I would certainly stay here again. It’s a perfect location off I10.
Great stay on our travels through southern Arizona. Enjoyed our conversation with the hosts. Very interesting and friendly couple. Next time we will have to plan a longer stay so we can explore the area.
Very Awesome couple and the views from the remote property are amazing. We had a tire Blowout on our RV right after I texted them, and said we would be there a day earlier and they were still fine with us getting in late. They guided us in to our spot to get needed rest. Woke up to amazing views of the mountain ranges. They have everything needed and plenty of space. Had a good talk with them before we continued on to Phoenix. Will be back for sure!
Greeted us immediately upon arrival and showed us around. These two know everything about the area and are full of interesting stories and knowledge. We will have to come back to take it all in.
Very accommodating hosts. Very knowledgeable of the area and thanks to them we got to spend a day at the excellent Amerind Museum - well worth it.
Loved all the birds on the property although didn't have a chance to see the owls. Hope to be back.
Freeholder was our last stop before landing in Tucson, where we are spending a couple of months. It was great to land in, relax and regenerate before the last leg of our journey. The hosts were extremely accommodating and we enjoyed our connection with them. Very much appreciated our time there.
I really appreciate my hosts. They were very friendly and made me feel welcome.
I definitely would like to come back and stay there another time.
We visited in our hosts home and watched the wide variety of birds that visit. Such a treat. Great people with great stories. So friendly and helpful. Would love to return and spend more time. Thanks so much!
Great property. Lovely people. Thank you for sharing your place
Quiet retreat. Easy To park. Friendly host. We arrived on the night and They were agree. Host recommandation.
The host met me when I drove in and directed me to a pull through site. Electric and water were very accessible. Pleasant conversation ensued! Would recommend for a quick stop, such as mine, or a convenient location to take in some local sites and events.
We arrived later than expected, they were very gracious to still allow us to stay. Will definitely stay here again
We had a lovely time staying here. B and S have lots of knowledge to share about the area, as well as a wealth of other topics. We were offered some of the best coffee each morning, along with great conversation! It's easy to get here and can't beat the stars! I hope our paths cross again!
It’s a wonderful place with wonderful hosts!
We hope too see them again in the future. We’ve stay just for one night but I’ve really recommend this boondockers.
Thank to you again, 😘
We really enjoyed our stay with Freeholder. They were very gracious hosts. We only regret that our stay was for only one night. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. We look forward to passing through the area in the future so that we might stop by again.
We enjoyed a very pleasant 5 night stay at Nolan’s Acres! Our hosts went above and beyond to accommodate us, and even invited us to their Christmas Open House which was wonderful and we got to meet some of their friends as well. It is the perfect location to explore the nearby Chiricahua Mountains as well as Cochise Stronghold. Thank you again to our hosts for accommodating us!
Freeholder are welcoming people. They invited us to visit, which we were happy to do. They are interesting and easy to talk with. The gentleman met us when we arrived. He was helpful getting us organized with water & electricity. He made good suggestions for places to visit in the area. Nice folks. Easy place to stay.
Arrived and Bill greeted me and got me setup with electric. Bill invited me in after I got settled and I met his wife Sara (spelled just like my oldest daughter). Great conversation with two very nice people and my stay was great. Met another camper Lance and he gave me great information on one of my next stays, near San Francisco. Bill has a great setup there and this should be on your Boondockers Welcome list of fantastic hosts.
Thanks again Sara and Bill....
Had a great 1 night stay with Freeholders at Nolan's Acres. It's a beautiful rural setting. Because of the rainy weather, I was unable to fully experience the property. I'm usually boondocking so the offer of electric hook-up was great! My hosts made me feel so welcome! I enjoyed spending time with these very interesting hosts..... hope to return in the future and spend more time with them!
Gosh, we so looked forward to staying at Nolan's Acres but they didn't have enough room for us to turn our 76' rig around. We did talk to them and learned that they had another boondocker parked in the driveway thus we couldn't get in. Talked to them on the phone but beings there was no available space we had to pass... Maybe next time??
Very nice couple! Perfect spot for a night or 3! Very welcoming, informative and fun. Actual drive they spot with 30 amp, water and dump if needed! What more could u ask? Quiet, beautiful views and lots of nature, that’s what!! Can’t wait to go back!
Freeholder offers a quiet spot and makes you feel right at home.
Greeted us on arrival helped up to get set into our spot and showed us where everything was.
Hosts were very friendly, offered up some fresh eggs for our breakfast and made us feel very welcome.
The bird watching here is great, I especially loved the owls.
As the winds are a bit extreme the day we are to be leaving they have welcomed us to stay an extra day.
Highly recommend and would absolutely stay here again.
loved this place for the convenience, and the wildlife. The host was very helpful and enjoyable to interact with.
Hosts were friendly and accomodating.
Sites were level w electric, water and dump available. Enjoyed a brief visit with Bill sharing professional histories.
Didn't get to visit as much as I wanted too. We have a lot in common. Great parking spot, quiet, secure, and everything we needed. Would like to have visited more but we needed to move on out. Highly recommended.
Bill and Sara were wonderful hosts, we felt like we were part of the family. They respected our privacy, but when needed, we had a wonderful time chatting and interacting. Highly recommend them
Very quiet surroundings and friendly helpful host greeting us in the dark to guide us to a wonderful flat spot overlooking the desert. Slept next to chickens that did not awake us in the morning cuz there was no rooster! Thank you Bill!
I stayed at Nolans’ Acres for five nights and truly enjoyed my stay, my Hosts, their views, and their critters. We talked about all sorts of topics, from politics to science to books to movies, and then some. We also watched a movie about birdwatchers (lots and lots of birds on their property), and we talked about them too. I hope to return.
I stayed with them a couple nights while taking in the local sites. He was helpful with info on the area. Quiet spot tucked in behind their home. Easy to find.
Very accommodating hosts as we stopped on our travels back to SoCal.
Extremely fascinating wildlife habitat in an agricultural setting.
We only stopped overnight, but got plenty of rest and awakened
to a variety of songbirds.
Had a wonderful stay. Tons of wildlife, especially birds. The hosts could not have been nicer. We hope to stay again.
Great host, great location. They let us and our kiddos see their ponds and chicken. Thanks for letting us stay!
Bill's directions are spot on. While there he hosted several other folks passing through Willcox. His tales of he and his wife's life experience are worth lending an ear. It's not every day you run into an accomplished learner, professor, author, and teacher who is still getting another advanced degree because of his unbounded curiosity. Spending one or more days with Bill is a rare treat. Bill, thanks for your generosity. I heartily recommend you and your place to any Boondocker lucky enough to travel through Arizona on I10.
My husband and I stayed with Bill and Sara at their property in Willcox, AZ for two nights. We were so grateful to have a wonderful place to park and rest after a very busy week in New Mexico. They offer electric, water and a sewer hookup as well. Their property is very natural and surrounded by beautiful mountains! They are very close to the Chiricahua National Monument which we had originally intended to spend time hiking in, but as it turned out we didn't make it there. We had a wonderful time talking to Bill and Sara. They are an amazingly accomplished couple who have a lot to share with others and are so warm and friendly. We even had dinner and enjoyed a movie with them while we were there. Thanks Bill and Sara for a wonderful stay and we hope to see you again soon!
First time I had been stopping with other boondockers. Even met a lady from my home state. Willcox had just about everything we needed in a easy-to-get-around-in small town. The laundry had a shaded hotdog stand next to it. We didn't eat one, but it smelled divine! The real gem was the Keiller city park which had a paved walking path especially for dog-walkers, complete with bags. The dust storm blew us into town and Bill was very generous to let us have shelter for two nights. The lilac bush was in bloom. Marvelous!
Bill and Sara were wonderful hosts! What a great place to stay! Surrounded by nature and the mountain ranges! Woke up to morning doves cooing! Bill is certainly a very creative person and very knowledgeable about the local area and its inhabitants (people, as well as animals)!
Very nice spot the hosts were very accommodating lots of wild life. Many birds the host was very helpful when finding a winery
We had a nice stay with Freeholder. Host site is conveniently located off I-10 and offers great mountain views with amazing sunsets. Parking area is level, easy to maneuver around with ample room for any size rig. Bill has a great knowledge of the local area and was more than willing to share this with us. Thanks to Bill and BW for another great stay.
Second visit here and had another movie night. Had a wonderful drive around in the nearby mountains where the flowers were spectacular.
Great conversations -- enjoyable stay.
Thanks Bill for the accommodations and conversation. Appreciate the hookups and having lots of room and those big open skies! Host was very accommodating and access was easy and close enough to I10 for quick jaunts into Tombstone and Bisbee. Will definitely repeat at some point when I'm back through the area. Thanks again!
Our spot was quiet, peaceful and private. Our hosts were so interesting and shared their love of books.
Highly recommend! Thank you so much!
It rained a lot before we arrived. This made the ground slippery. Freeholder could have cancelled, but didn't. They were also accommodating to our ever changing schedule. Their property is very quiet and easy to get to.
Thank you for your hospitality!
Bill and Sarah are generous hosts with plenty of space for RVs and a wonderful welcoming attitude. We enjoyed gorgeous Mountain Views, wildlife and connecting with the Nolan’s during our movie night! This couple is amazingly intelligent, kind and fun loving. We are very grateful for being able to stay on their beautiful property and get to know them!
The hosts have become new friends and we look forward to many future interactions with this warm, witty, delightful couple. True gems!
Nice and quiet place, we slept very well.
We get good advices from our host. We recommand!
When we pulled in here, it felt like coming home. We’re even extending our stay. The friendship, conversation, and peaceful setting are delightful.
We had a wonderful peaceful night's stay. Convient off the highway. Very pleasant conversation in the morning. We had a cold spell so it was great to have access to electric. Many thanks!
A great place to stop on our way to Phoenix! Our host was very knowledgeable on the area and wildlife. We were able to use the electric hookup, which was great! To park, we were able to loop around and didn’t have to back into a space or out of the driveway. Beautiful views of the mountains and a peaceful place to park for a night!
We came here at the last minute seeking refuge from the snow and found kindred spirits. B and S are intelligent, warm, fun, kind, interesting hosts. They provided a large level spot with power, water, and internet for our camper, then welcomed us into their home. We stayed four days and spent much of that time visiting. They gave us advice on where to eat, where to purchase supplies, and shared their knowledge of the area. B even cut a strip of wood to size for us for our solar project. I hope we have many opportunities in the future to spend time together. This has truly been a heart-warming experience.
We boondocked on a cold day and night in February. Bill greeted us and we talked about the best places to park. He also offered electricity and water but we needed neither. This is a pleasant location with lots of level parking locations and a quiet night away from the usual vehicle and train noises. We enjoyed our stay and thank the Nolans for their hospitality.
We really enjoyed our short stay. A most friendly & helpful host provided all we needed. Hope he comes to England sometime & stays with us. Thank you.
Our visit at Nolan’s Acres could not have been better. They welcomed us into their lives and rural retreat and proved to be a wealth of information on places to visit and things to do in the local community. A wonderful couple to visit with and learn from. We look forward to visiting with them again soon.
Quiet spot and convenient to I-10. Enjoyed talking with the freeholder!
Could not have been any better ! Quiet, dark at night, wonderful sunrises and sunsets, and lovely people.
Thank you for having us.
Nice paved road leading to the location. Plenty of room for our 13 1/2 foot tall tiny home. Level parking areas. Great nights stay!
Nolan Acres was a real treat. Our hosts were very generous with their time and we learned a lot about the local area and the history of Arizona and the Cochise County. They are a very active retired couple who have done so much in their lives and still continue to volunteer their time and make a big difference in the lives of others..... ...
We feel that we have found new friends.
We had a fantastic stay at Nolans Acres. It was a quiet, flat spot with beautiful sunrises and sunsets and not too far off Hwy 10. Our host was very welcoming and met us and showed us the available spots that we could select. It was a great experience and we would definately stay again.
Wonderful, interesting hosts! They know so much about the area, from birding to RVing. We enjoyed hearing the coyotes howling in the distance. The night sky was amazing! Very relaxing, quiet place to stay. Even though we didn't need it, having electric hookups and a place to dump is a great asset. We'll be back!
Lovely spot with both morning and evening sun views. Welcoming couple we enjoyed chatting with.
Excellent host and the site had everything you could want to have for any RV. Views were terrific. Bill went out of his way to help me with a tire pressure issue. Highly recommend and would stay again.
Really appreciated the boondocking central to many attractions. Our host was very knowledgeable about the area. Thank you!
We attended the Wings Over Willcox birding festival in January, and were delighted to discover our hosts were birders too! We were greeted upon arrival and made welcome. We could hear sandhill cranes in the distance. A pleasant stay with mountain views.
Large area with easy access and close to interstate. Bill was very helpful and is a great conversationalist. Great views of the mountains come with a great place to stay.
Close to Willcox with a great view of the mountains, Bill and Sarah were perfect hosts. I stayed for 3 days and they invited me to stay longer if I wanted. The sunrise and sunsets were beautiful and the birds were singing very day. They do have a special spot and I would definitely stay again if ever I find myself in the area.
Thanks Bill & Sarah!
Freeholder showed us two or three places to park. We found a nice level spot. The next morning he showed me where I could fill some water containers. I asked him if there was a gas station in Wilcox that had lower cost fuel compared to the ones right off I-10. He directed me to a mom and pop country store that had diesel for $0.25 less per gallon compared to the ones by the off ramps. He also sent me to a local propane dealer that had propane for about $0.50 less per gallon compared to the ones at gas stations.
Freeholder is an RVer himself and knows the needs of those on the road. I cannot recommend him enough.
Enjoyed a short but good conversation with hosts Bill and Sarah on arrival. Quick response to short notice. Was told that there are 70 wineries in the valley but won’t get to enjoy any but could be a great reason to stay longer. They’ve made some great accommodations for travelers. Wifi wasn’t working but Bill’s on it.
I spent a quick overnight in the country at Nolan’s Acres and had a restful night. They were unable to be there when I arrived but kindly arranged to have their niece welcome me and show me where to park. It was easy to find and the host was very responsive via message. Thank You!
Great safe, quiet, rural spot. Super friendly hosts. Had great conversations. Good location to park our trailer and hookup while visiting SE Arizona. Easy on and off I 10. Would stay there again if they would have us!
5 Star. Thank you!!!
The view of the mountains is great. We stayed 2 nights for us to visit Tombstone. It was perfect. The owner was super nice when we arrived. We have a 40ft 5th wheel. The driveway is just a bit tight for a long rig because of the turns but a little planning made it possible. We were 3 boondockers and barely saw their rig. Nothing bad to say about this spot. Thanks for the place.
Great and Very quiet place with lots of room! We Where on our way to Santa Fe and sorry to short time for more talkings.
Maybe next year when we are again in the usa
I thought i had posted a reference but i must not have submitted it.
Nolan's acre was a great place to spend two nights. He met us outside in freezing temps to show us a nice, level parking place and electrical hookup. We did not use water hookups as we had full tank of water. We enjoyed the beautiful mountains surrounding his spacious property. My son enjoyed walking around property looking at the interesting plants (we are from SE and dont have yucca or cactus).
The next day he came out to let us know they would be out all morning and when he would be home in case we needed anything.
We would love to visit Nolan's acre again in the spring or fall so we can enjoy the splendid outdoors.
We are so grateful for our stay at Nolan Acres! Our family had an amazing time visiting the local area and getting to know the hosts who went above and beyond with their time and resources. Their home is in a convenient location with great mountain views and a lot of wildlife surrounding the area. Our spot was level and we had access to water and electricity and there is a dump on site as well. We were able to use our own Verizon data and get a good connection to stream for work. We came as strangers and left as friends. Definitely hoping to keep in touch with our hosts who were knowledgeable about so many aspects of life, the local Wilcox area, and made us feel very welcome! Thanks for a fantastic stay!
We appreciate Bill letting us stay another night due to an unexpected snow storm... plenty of room and easy to find
We were one of three Boondockers staying with the Nolans during our one night stay over. Communication prior to our arrival was great. Bill greeted us and directed us to a nice, level, dirt spot with access to a 20 amp plug in. While we didn't get to spend much time with our hosts, we appreciated their quiet and peaceful space and that they offered to help us if snow affected our travel plans. We hope to stay at Nolan's Acres again!
Quick communication, level spot with electric. Outstanding place for us thru travelers heading back to the CO high-country. Thanks
Actually it snowed.
I enjoyed five nights of beautiful sky and calm.
Loved every minute.
Stayed for 3 days over Christmas. Were invited to snacks and conversation on Christmas Eve and a beautiful, delicious dinner on Christmas Day. Couldn't ask for more welcoming, gracious hosts and conversationalists. It's amazing the great people that we meet by being members of Boondockers Welcome. We will definitely go out of our way in the future to visit with them again.
We are Boondockers Welcome hosts but this was our first time to stay as guests. Bill and Sara are really nice people and absolutely could not have been any more accommodating!!! Bill is a published author and he gave my 10 year old daughter one of his books as a gift..such a nice surprise! Their property can accommodate many rigs of all different sizes and they do have electrical hookups for up to three different RVs. We were in a 40 foot diesel pusher with a tow car and had plenty of room. The location is great! From their place it's easy to get to Tombstone, Bisbee, Douglas, Fort Bowie, and the Chiricahua National Monument. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward do our next trip back to Willcox!
Been with the Nolans only one night on our way to California but what a nice encounter with kind people in a nice surrounding. We had a good time with Bill and Sarah and would’nt hesitate to recommand this fine couple on your passage in Wilcox.
This is an incredible couple ! First they were able to accommodate a change in schedule and then they invited me to their Christmas party! I really felt like part of the family. Thanks again for everything!
We enjoyed our stay at this location. The hosts are very friendly and hospitable. The location has several sites to choose from with mountain views in every direction. The town of Willcox has all the basic amenities, and the surrounding area has numerous BLM and National Forest area to explore. There are two entrances off the road; one has a large dip and the other has a relatively narrow gate opening. Even so, we were able to get in with little difficulty.
Bill & Sara (and their pets) are very warm and welcoming hosts.
With several spots to choose from, we had a level, quiet place with electric and water. We enjoyed the many birds that visit, including the Great Horned owls and cranes.
Morning coffee and great conversation were added benefits. We would love to return on our way through in the future.
Thanks very much!
I enjoyed my stay at Nolan’s place but this time of year it was a tad cold. I only stayed two nights but it was a pleasant spot. The pair of resident owls were on duty as well as many other birds making my walks interesting. The Nolans were helpful hosts.
We had such a wonderful stay with the Nolans. We camped with them the week of Thanksgiving, and they graciously invited us for Thanksgiving dinner! They had both water and electric hook-ups for us to use, and with the nighttime temps in the upper 20's is was very nice to be able to run our little electric heater. Their home is perfectly located to visit the Chiricahua's and the Dragoons, as well as the Pinaleno Range north of Willcox. There are also several wineries in the area, so plenty of things to do within an hour's drive in any direction. And the highlight was having a pair of Great Horned owls watching over us from the trees above. Amazing! Such a wonderful, generous couple, we highly recommend staying at Nolans arcres! Thanks again Bill and Sara for a great week and a yummy Thanksgiving dinner!
Great host. This was our 1st Boondocker experience & 1st time camping in the Willcox area. The location was perfect for visting the local farms/orchards and access to Mt Graham area. The moonless night sky was impressive. They are friendly, easy going host & a wealth of knowledge. We were serenaded by coyotes & watched by the 3 resident great horned owls.
Bill and Sara were geat hosts. They have water and electricity hookups, and a nearby dump station. They graciously invited us to dinner, which we accepted. Had great food and conversation.
Their place is full of native wildlife and they improve the habitat regularly.
A great stay with great hosts.
Great hosts at the Oasis and comfortable place to stay.
Bill and Sara could not have made us feel more welcome! Sara fixed us a delicious breakfast (with fresh eggs from their own hens!) and they both entertained us with lively, informative discussions. They had plenty of room for our motorhome and have gorgeous views from their property. Each morning we enjoyed seeing the wildlife right outside our motorhome - rabbits, quail, kestrels, etc. When we left this morning it felt like we were leaving family!
Thank you both for the hospitality and the wonderful conversation! We enjoyed meeting you both and sharing experiences of our travels. Other travelers in the Boondockers Welcome community should definitely put your place on their list of which place to stay in Southern Arizona. We enjoyed the views, sunsets and observing the wildlife on your property. Thank you both for your suggestion to slow our pace a bit, it allowed us to take in the Historic Downtown area and spend more time in the nearby National Park. Hope to see you again.
Enjoyed our overnight stay! Very nice hosts, easy to get in and out. Will stay again and recommend.
If our rig wasn’t so big (43ft), we would have stayed. Very, very nice couple, though and even tried to help us find another location for the night. We will be staying at Grande Vista RV Park.
