We are hoping to go FT in four years. We currently live in ND but have lived in many parts of this great country.
Do I have any great skills? no. I do have a working knowledge of a lot of things. I do have some solar knowledge as we currently live off grid nine months out of the year. We have a 9k system I installed myself. I also have a few wood working tools and like to play in the shop. Again, jack of all trades and master of none.
We do not have pets and don't think I ever will again. Having said that, I don't care if you do as long as your pets are yours. Basic responsibility is all I ask of anyone. I am not anti pet, I just don't want one.
We like getting out and off the beaten path. The more wildlife the better. We have a lot to learn yet in that regard.
Lisbon ND A small town off the path about 75 miles SW of Fargo.
Felt a little like being on a beach! We arrived just in time for sunset and tucked in between a dune & mesquite. Enjoyed it very much- thank you!
We knew we would be spending the evening indoors as the wind was brutal. This was a great place for us to do that. Right off the highway. Great directions to find it and good communication through texting with the host. A nice large area to park for the night with one other rig to join us. Thank you for a great spot.
It is a very remote site but very peaceful and quite. Our son had a blast looking for treasure, animal prints, and rocks. The sunset was just gorgeous. Thank you for making it so much fun for our little guy.
Great stay on the Demmings Lot. We had plenty of room, easy directions and the night sky is fantastic. It’s a nice place to get away from the campsites. Thanks for being a Boondockers Host.
Lovely spot and easy to find. Really enjoyed staying here.
Beautiful piece of land with the most astonishing sunsets. Very quiet. Great being so close to town, dump station and easy diesel. Our coach weighs 45,000 lbs and we had no trouble finding firm, flat land. NorthDakotanut is very welcoming and very easy to communicate with. Thanks for a great stay!
This lot is bare bones out in the country, but pretty close to a truck stop with free water and sewer dump. You'll park in a sandy/rocky lot, but we didn't have any problem with our 32'Class C either time we stayed. This last time, we shared the lot with another Boondocker and still had lots of room to spread out. They were in a 40'+ Class A and didn't have any trouble getting in either. This is a great stay if you need a nights rest while traveling on I-10. Thanks to our hosts!
Easy to get to, level and quiet. Nice star viewing at night.
Excellent communication from the host. A nice, quiet spot on unimproved land on the outskirts of Deming. Easy & quick access to/from I-10. Perfect stop-over when passing through the area--much quieter than staying near the freeway! As the host recommends, definitely arrive before sunset, because it is DARK out there. Thanks for the stay, northdakotanut!
This was a great spot to stay, out of the city. The host was not on site when I visited, but was very responsive, helpful and friendly via messaging. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you!
Great host. Welcomed us to extend our stay, which we needed to do. The area is beautiful desert with a night sky full of stars. Very private.
Loved the area. Loved his fun nature and love for kids, of all ages, in planting buried treasures! Many blessings!
My stay at this site was awesome. The only sound was the wind blowing. The host was awesome as well. Very friendly and gave good directions. I would definitely stay here again. This site is a very short distance from Interstate 10. I extended my stay for another night. The down time was nice. I felt recharged. It is nice to be reminded that there are still kind people in this crazy world!
This property is only a few miles from the highway but feels like it's far out in the country. It's very quiet with the exception of wildlife and an occasional rooster. If you like the escape of the city, then this will be a great get-awaw for a night.
Thanks to our host!
Thanks so much for having us at your lot. It worked out great. I did some brush trimming for you at the end of the road to widen the way in. We will be out of here tomorrow.
Thanks Again
DougnDot
We got in after dark so we were hoping we were in the right place and it turns out we were! Great, secluded spot, beautiful sunrise! And the added tough for the kids was wonderful! Thanks for the great stopover on our way to TX!
Our first experience using Boondockers Welcome and it turned out great. Nice quiet, secluded spot made a great stopping point on our way to Guadalupe Mountains.
Loves hearing the coyotes all night. That was cool. Just an empty desert lot and a beautiful view.
One of our favorites stops. Large open area (just do not step on the thorns - they will go right through most shoes), convenient to interstate, fuel, showers, Walmart, butane, groceries, great cafes and wonderful days trips.
The space was very quiet, easy to find, and felt secure. There is also a Walmart in town if you need to stock up on essentials. northdakotanut was quick to reply and made sure we found the spot with no issues. Would definitely recommend to other travelers!
This was a great overnight stay close to I-10. We were able to get really easily. The night sky was beautiful and a nice cool breeze for easy sleeping.
Northdakotanut also told us about the 5R station close by so we got to fill up with water and such on the way out.
A second beautiful stay. :) 10 out of 10 and a kind individual helping us get home for the quarantine.
We loved the area and land. We let the dogs roam. We watched the stars. It was a peaceful.
We were thinking about staying again as we are in NM, but our travels took us to TorC, NM.
We were close to the highway, gas and Walmart.
The Deming lot was a perfect spot to spend a few nights. Close to town but far enough away to feel secluded. Great spot to explore the Gila Cliff Dwellings and National Forest! Thanks for the hospitality!
As we practice social distancing in our travels from Arizona to Manitoba, Canada, it was convenient to stay at The Deming Lot along the way. If we had followed the host's instructions we would have easily found the site, but instead made the mistake of following our gps that lead us to a dead end 2 miles away. Definitely our mistake, not the hosts. We had a quiet night at the Deming Lot and continued on our way the next day. Thanks much!
This was a very convenient stay for visiting City of Rocks SP, Gila NF, and Gila Cliff Dwellings NM. It was very quiet. We were easily able to find hardpack ground to pull in to with our 5th wheel.
Nice quiet place. Easy to find and get into. Was a great place for us to catch up on a few personal things.
We had a good deal of trouble finding the location, but it was nice and flat and very quiet once we found our way there. The trouble was that our GPS led us past right road to another road with the same name further off of the more main road we'd travelled along. Once we were onto the wrong road of the same name, but without the NW addition, there was no turning around, so we had to unhitch. After we got hooked back up and were headed back out the road, someone in another vehicle beckoned us to stop, which we did. Turns out it was our host's lovely Uncle Joe, who, with help from a distant cousin and with our host on the phone long distance from N. Dakota, eventually we were back on track. The two gentlemen personally led us to the correct location after quite an adventure. All very much appreciated and very sweet of them to take the time out of their day to set us right.
Quiet and full of charm! Lots of dunes to explore and coyotes howling at night. My two dogs enjoyed the stay and the host made sure we had exact directions! Would definitely stay again.
An excellent stopover just off I-10, there is no one living there and there is nothing on the property, it felt very safe and offered a really lovely sunset and sunrise. Communication with the host was very easy.
Thank you for hosting me!
Communication with John was great on his location! Dump station down the road with no problems! Location is very quiet & dark!
This was a great spot. Closest thing you’ll get to real Boondocking out in the desert.
Great sunset,Quiet, dark yet not far from asphalt and getting on the highway. we would stop again.
Easy to locate. Host communication was great. Would stay again if in the area.
We drove out to the site, area was very rough, we tried a few spots but we were bogging down in our 36 ft Mobile home. I wouldn't say "don't do this" But we are not that seasoned that we felt comfortable trying to get parked and not stuck there. Thank you just the same, we appreciate all who offer their spaces for the purpose of boondocking
We were travelling through NM on our way to Las Cruces. Thought we would try to stay in Deming to visit Rockhound State Park and the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum. We couldn't get into the state park... not only is it popular, but we were here on President's Weekend to boot! Anyway, This spot was exactly what we hoped for! The lot was easy to find using Google Maps as well as the directions provided by northdakotanut. There is plenty of room on the property for a number of guests, however for 2 of our 3 nights we were the only ones out here. Quiet and feels like you are out in the country yet close to town. It had recently snowed/rained, so the ground was very soft, so we didn't venture too far off the road as we travel in a 38 foot motorhome with a large cargo trailer and are quite heavy; But we found a suitable spot, so to future guests, scout your site before heading into any soft spots and you will have a perfect stay. The host was very responsive, and we felt safe and enjoyed the quiet nights, beautiful sunsets and were able to visit both our "must see" sites while here. We hope we can stay again. Thanks!
We stayed 2 nights in the Deming lot. Beautiful property and very private. The mountains in the background provide wonderful sunrises and sunsets. Very grateful that the owner is willing to share the property with RV’ers.
Great place just outside of Deming, NM and easy to find. We stayed for 2 days and were able to explore a little around the area. Just a large, open lot, away from the noise of the town. We shared the space with a couple of jack rabbits and a few quail. We will definitely return should our travels take us through here again.
Spot was very quiet and dark had a very good night for the nexts day’s trip. The directions where dead on. Would like to thank host for the spot on a short notice.
Great location! It was super quiet, spacious, and the nearby Valero was so convenient.
What a wonderfully quiet and secluded spot! Thanks northdakotanut.
We happened to stop in at Walmart in town and the parking lot was filled with idling semis and RVs, which would have been anything but relaxing. Meanwhile, we were quite grateful to be camped for the night at the Deming Lot and felt very fortunate for the generosity of being able to stay here. The dark night sky was full of stars that one doesn’t often get to see. The purple mountains in the distance at sunrise were an added visual treat.
Host communications and directions were quick, flawless and very helpful.
Would suggest fellow travelers check out a satellite view before reserving. The lot is surrounded by some nearby properties in various states of disrepair, but we felt safe. We did this before we requested a stay. Having been to this part of the world before, all was as expected. No one bothered us. In fact, we saw no one around.
If a visitor is in the mood for adventure, trek the dozen miles ESE to the Adobe Deli and Steakhouse. A cultural desert oddity well worth the trip. Middle of nowhere you’ll find this watering hole and taxidermy haven. Our steak and osso bucco dinner was great; and the French onion soup was as good as advertised.
The Valero station (“5R Travel Center” on Google Maps) between the Deming lot and the town, has a dedicated RV fueling lane along the main road, as well as dump station and water out in front of the truckers’ fuel islands.
Second visit to this boondockers spot. Again the sunset and sunrise were breathtaking . When we arrived we were treated to a hawk trying his best to fly and perch in a brisk wind. With the RV friendly truck stop up the road it makes it one of our favorite places to boondock.
I really appreciated this stopover on my way from AZ to TX. Deming is close enough to bike to for groceries and the library. Northdakotanut was very responsive and accommodating, even when I changed my schedule a couple of times. Make sure you read all the detailed instructions about the property, so you don't park where you'll get stuck in the sand.
These hosts were so nice to welcome us to stay on their property. Even though they were not on site, their communication with us was excellent. We really liked being close enough to town for shopping and good restaurants. Rock Hound State Park and Spring Canyon were nearby to visit for hiking and beautiful scenery. Although there were a few neighbors and an occasional train, car, and barking dog, it really felt like we were in a secluded spot with awesome sunsets, colorful mountain views, and starry skies. However, it was comforting to know we weren’t totally alone in the middle of nowhere. And when we left there was a place nearby to fill up with propane along with an easy access and free dump station with water directly across the way. We highly recommend these hosts and hope to meet up with them in future travels.
Nice quite level spots for a quick overnight stay as we were traveling thru.
Great view of the stars at night.
Will stay again if we are ever back in the area.
Thanks
Great overnight stay. Our host contacted us with text messages and even phoned to make sure we were okay arriving in the dark. Very appreciated!
This lot was perfect for me and what I needed, I wish I would've stayed a little longer because it feels like you're in the middle of the desert almost and I love that. I felt very safe and had no issues pulling my 25 foot travel trailer with eighth 2006 ford expedition there're plenty of spots to choose from there're plenty of spots to choose from and I would definitely stay here again!
A very quiet and peaceful place to spend the afternoon and evening. It ws gracious of them to open up their property to us. THANKS! Hope we see you in North Dakota.
We've really enjoyed our time at The Deming Lot. It's a great secluded spot.
Thanks, John. I really enjoyed my stay on your huge natural desert property. It was very quiet even though it was quite close to the road. And the natural beauty and solitude of the desert environment was perfect for my stay in the Deming area. I hope to be able to stay there again sometime when I swing through Deming, again. It's a great place for anyone looking for quiet and a natural, desert boondocking experience and still be only 10 minutes from all the conveniences of town. 👍
This was a great place to stay in Deming, and the hosts were kind enough to let us extend our stay. We'd stay here again.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Deming Lot. We even requested an extra day just to rest and enjoy the peace and quiet.
We had a wonderful night and a beautiful sunset thank you very much for letting us use your property. This it’s close to the i10 about 2 miles you can get fuel on the way and propane 🇳🇿 👍
This was an easy overnight stop off Rte 10. Off a dirt road, but nice and flat.
The host was very responsive and pleasant. Would definitely stop here again.
Very peaceful very easy access to I-10 there is a Valero gas station near it with a dump station and RV gas pump. The owner was very helpful and accommodating and I would stay again.
Enjoyed a very quiet and peaceful stay at The Deming Lot. Site was easy to find with multiple level parking spots to choose from. Thanks northdakotanut for providing this great location in NM!
We enjoyed our one night stay with a wonderful view of the mountains. Quiet and secluded yet only a few minutes from the interstate.
Host is not on site but was very quick to respond to our request and was very helpful.
Awesome overnight experience. Awesome sunrise and sunset.
Thanks for the stay.
Regards Mr Bill
We found the lot with no problem. Many nice spots to setup. Very quiet.near town. Great spot to spend a day or a few. Would visit this spot again. John was easy to contact.
Thanks
Our one night stay at the Deming Lot was ideal: got in a little before sunset (directions from I-10 were spot on) after a stormy drive from T or C; I was worried about the sand after 2 inches of rain (34ft class A), but the spot was quite durable; great mountain views and a beautiful sunrise. The only uncontrollable downside was a distant neighbor who left their dog chained outside in 20 degree temps. NDNut was incredibly attentive to all our questions and concerns, much thanks and praise!
Had good communication from the host. Found section easily. Was a good 2 night break as had travelled 6 1/2 hours. Great space just to chill. Kids loved the space to play around just be careful of the thorns. lots of wildlife.
Super flexible and quick responses. We really appreciated the space so close off he hwy. the host isn’t at the property but he was so informative.
Quiet and peaceful, couldn't ask for anything more. Friendly host with good communication. Even had a pair of coyotes sing to me at breakfast!
Close to Deming and it’s amenities.
Unfortunately the wind came up and we were getting somewhat of a sand blasting so had to move to a more sheltered location.
Thanks to Northdakotanuts for their hospitality.
We really appreciated an out of the way, quiet and peaceful place to just hang out for a few days. Lovely night skies and beautiful sunrises and sunsets. What's not to like?! :) Our hosts couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating, even though we didn't have the pleasure of meeting them face to face. Thanks so much!
Beautiful location to enjoy the sunset and a breathtaking sunrise. It felt like we were miles from town but in reality is was just a mile or so.
Deming Lot is awesome-easy to set up very level-it was a perfect Boondocking spot for us!
Great place , secluded. Pointy plants around tho..Lol.. really nice people. Thanks so much for letting us stay here!!!!! Really enjoyed. Good time.
Quiet place. Easy enough to find. We have a 40ft 5th wheel and if you drive down the road to the GPS coordinates given, there is space between the bushes where you can turn around and set up. A few unsightly buildings nearby, but once set up, you can barely see them and the awesome sunset and starry night more than make up for it.
For us city dwellers, the immense expanse of sky filled with infinite stars was a rare treat. There are few street signs, so I recommend using GPS rather than the host’s directions. We highly recommend this site.
Thanks for the opportunity. Fyi thorns and stickers are hard on dogs feet...great spot for someone who does not have pets.....very helpful host!
We stayed 2 nights in January, and certainly got the cold weather, but it was easy enough to find and very quiet. Bonus, the host left a scavenger hunt for kids! Might still be available for a few more visiting families. Thanks NDNut!
Great quiet spot for an overnighter! Very much enjoyed our stay and got the added bonus of getting to meet the owner who is not normally around! John was extremely helpful and hospitable!
Google maps will bring you right to the edge of the property and when it says you have arrived if you just continue about 100 more yards it will be very clear where are the available spots will be on the right side of the road! This was my experience by putting the actual physical address into Google maps!
We will remember this place and stay there again without any question!
Just what I needed.
So quiet and peaceful!
I was actually checking with realtors.
Nice town, gentle people.
Once found was very easy to access. Loved watching the effects of the sun and clouds on the mountains on 3 sides, which portrayed changes several times a day. Beautiful! Room for several full size motorhomes. I would recommend this site. The owner was more than helpful and answered quickly when I did need to call once
John was quick to respond to our request. The lot was level and quiet, just a bit soft from some recent rain. Road in was fine for our 32 ft class a and toad. Thanks again for the hospitality.
The great place to stay off the road. We will definitely be using this location again whenever we are in the area. Owner was very responsive.
northdakotanut was extremely helpful while I was locating this cool out of the way spot. Lots of room and pretty easy to find level places to park. Very primitive, just right to get away from it all.
This spot is a lot just outside of Demming, NM. The are no buildings on the lot so knowing exactly where the boundaries of the lot were was a little difficult but it was easy to see where other Boondockers had parked befor. This is a very quiet spot with easy access and very good cell reception.
Mother Nature caused a rain out on the way to spring training in AZ but the interaction with John was a hit! Directions, timely replies and the land were right on but the rain caused a change of direction. Will look for you in ND someday...until then many thanks for your time!
Robert
John was very quick on the draw to respond back to me. I was very late getting to his property, but that didn't matter as it is vacant land and direction were easy to follow. I was able to stay two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the adventure John provided for me. I would definitely stop by again.
The host for this location was very patient and helpful, as I had a bit of trouble locating the place since it is pretty rural and not marked. Once we figured it out though, I was able to camp there successfully and get a couple really nice nights of peaceful stargazing in.
An excellent way to camp. Awesome spot. Great sunset. Thanks NorthDakotaNut...
Thank you so much for hosting us, you are so kind and helpful. The plot of land is absolutely perfect for boondockers, and would recommend. We visited city of Rocks while we were there which is only 20 mins away!
We have left some painted rocks for others to find hope someone finds them!
