We retired in 2017 and plan to travel as much as we can while our health allows us to. We have been camping for approximately 25 years (mainly across Ontario) starting with a pop-up trailer and moving on to a couple travel trailers and finally 5th Wheels. We currently have a 37’ Jayco 5th Wheel with 3 slides.
In Canada, we have traveled to the East coast provinces (with the exception of Newfoundland). Now that we have retired, we plan to travel to the Western provinces in the future.
In the United States, we have visited several New York state parks as well as camped in Maine during our travels to the East coast.
We are also avid NASCAR fans and in March, 2020 we completed Darrel’s bucket list of visiting all 23 Nascar tracks: Michigan, New Hampshire, Chicago, Kentucky, Indianapolis, Watkins Glen, Las Vegas, Daytona, Richmond, Bristol, Dover, Poconos, Martinsville, Atlanta, Charlotte, Darlington, Texas, Talladega, Kansas, Homestead Florida, Phoenix, California (Sonoma & Auto Club Speedway).
We like to ride our bikes, swim and hike. We enjoy meeting new people. When at home Darrel must be busy. He always has some sort of project he is designing and building or working around the yard. Valerie now has lots of time to finally read a book or cook & bake.
We are not afraid of hard work and always willing to give a helping hand when needed.
Currently we have no pets.
It is hard to just pick one.

Great folks. Pro's, had their stuff together, no handholding needed.
Welcome back anytime
NascarFans came to us for a second stay and we enjoyed a great time with them. We have made some great friends and hope we get to see them again soon!!!!!
It was nice to meet NascarFans. They are a very pleasant couple and we had a few good chats about RV life. They gave us a lot of information we can use for our future plans on the road. They are always welcome back if they are by this way again.
Valerie and Darrel were great guest to share our Thanksgiving Holiday with. They joined right in with family fun around the game table. Valerie shared her delicious banana bread with us. The time they spent with us went so fast.
Nascar fans are another Canadian snowbird Boondockerswelcome guest that left as friends. We have met so many wonderful people being BDW hosts.

NascarFans are a perfect example of why we are BW hosts ! They were sent to us by friends of theirs that were guests of ours twice last year ( thank you SwedishBlondes) and we really got to enjoy the time that they spent with us 😊 We enjoyed their company very much and got to share a few meals together. Hopefully we will get the chance to spend more time with them in the future...maybe after we start our new adventures! NascarFans were a pleasure and are certainly welcome back any time 😆
It was a pleasure hosting this nice couple. She makes great banana bread. I enjoyed their stay and they are welcome back.
We really enjoyed hosting this couple. Very down to earth and fun! We would welcome them back anytime and look forward to seeing them again and sharing another bottle of wine :-)

NascarFans helped me to identify a problem with my listing. Their rig would fit the space, but due to its length and the width of the street, they couldn't negotiate the turn into the space. They were very gracious about this unfortunate turn of events and even invited me to have dinner with them after they got settled at a nearby state park. Unfortunately, I was unable to take them up on their very kind and friendly offer. I was unable to meet them in person due to a late-breaking family commitment. Communications with them were excellent. NascarFans are long experienced RVers and I would be happy to welcome them any time. (Provided that I could fit them into the space.)
Following their suggestion, I have amended my profile to allow rigs 30 feet and under. My sincere apologies to them along with my gratitude for their kindness in spite of what I had not anticipated.
NascarFans spent 3 nights with us. As a result they had time to "take in" some of the interesting things around Springfield. Even though the weather was not pleasant and my wife was not feeling good a couple of days, we finally found time to visit. We found Darrell and Valarie to be interesting and charming. Our daughter and son-in-law also enjoyed getting to meet them. We hope their journey continues to be safe and enjoyable. If they request to stay with you I think it will be your loss if you cannot grant that request. They are welcome back at our place any time.
V & D you were wonderful guests! Loved our dinner you lovingly prepared for us! Such a treat! You have surely peaked our interest in traveling your direction. . . Welcome any time back in our little town of Lathrop! Safe travels and next time you come to Kansas City for the races, you are welcome to stay in Lathrop.....We might just go to a nascar race with you!
We had a great time with these guys! They allowed us to be part of their adventures and we enjoyed it all ! They were fun loving, friendly, very gracious and appreciative!!! Even our cats loved them! Respectful of our property and time; they are welcome anytime not only as Boondocker guests but as friends! Safe travels you guys !
Wow. What a great couple of days it has been. “The Fans” were a pleasure to host. It felt like we were camping with old friends, but we were on our back yard.
It started out with me postponing their arrival time a bit. They were 100% understanding and forgiving. After they arrived we talked for a good while. We shared a meal that night and the night after as well as some great drinks! That Jalapeño Margarita is going to one that gets remade!
Conversation was always flowing and the time flew by!!!!
A wonderful couple indeed.
My wife and I are already talking about next time the come down here. And we are planning to go visit them in Ontario.
Gold stars all around!!!!!
We shared common interests in things that go fast, nice food and drinks and general love of meeting new interesting people. Shared lots of stories and some good food and drinks.
Very welcome again anytime.
Originally friends of friends on Boondockers, we are now happy to call these guys our friends! They stayed four days with us, and now they seem like part of the family. We had a great bonfire, visited our favorite sushi joint, and had a great dinner and desserts at the house.
They are very respectful, super neat, and you couldn't tell they had been here after they had gone. We are looking forward to the next time they can come and stay!
We enjoyed our time with Valerie & Darrell very much. They brought peach cobbler to our meal with friends and it was delicious! :)
We spent the evenings with them Sunday and Monday and Valerie brought us 3 loaves of fresh banana bread! It is so delicious too! They offered to compensate us for any electric used, which we didn't need compensated, but so very kind and thoughtful of them to ask.
We invited them back anytime and hope to host them again soon! Great people! :)
Darrel and Valerie were experiencing boomdocking for the first time and we had the up most pleasure to have them with Swedish Blonde. Very friendly, fun and kind hearted couple with good conversations. We had some fantastic meals together, and most of all Valerie is the best baker I have come across. Thank you for the extra pounds lol. We will welcome them back with open arms anytime. Safe travelling.
