She is a Psychatric Nurse (retired). Rates are reasonable if you need a little couseling! :) He is a retired manufacturing engineer / lean & manufacturing consultant. Worked on everything from depleted Uranium penetrators to jet engines to locomotives to compressors to diapers and dryer sheets. Held most every manufacturing job there is up to VP. Managed a product development group for 10 years and started up and managed one of the only Manufacturing Engineering Development labs in the country. Three great (grown) kids - all on their own. Empty nesters - YES!!
We love the West and plan to spend most of the time we have left exploring all the National Parks, +++ When I figure out how to rig up pontoons on the Roadtrek, we're also going to spend a lot of time in Hawaii. We've been there many times - courtesy of Delta's frequent flier miles - and absolutely love the islands! Hanalei and Haleakala are two places everyone should put on their bucket list.
She likes to sew, he likes to take pictures of anything that will hold still. We both enjoy computers, so figuring out how to keep "connected" while on the road is the next big assignment.
He is pretty mechanically inclined. Given time, can fix most anything. A skill acquired because I'm too cheap to pay someone to do something I can do. Also a reasonably capable photographer. She is great at crocheting and sewing and putting up with ME!
Have a rescue cat who loves walking on a leash and waking up trying to figure out where she is NOW!

I pulled up and was greeted with a plate of homemade cookies (gone quickly) and an informative sheet about local info and a WiFi passcode. This host is a perfect example of "giving without expectation." With Covid protocols in place, we barely had a conversation. Yet, they made it clear that I was welcome to use hookup, relax in the yard, and feel at home. Very kind people.
Also, I went for a long walk and learned all about oysters. This is oyster territory for sure. Interesting area and truly nice folks.
Really nice stop! Not far from main highway, easy access, wonderful hosts, chocolate chip cookies fire pit in back, screened in backyard area with seating to relax without bugs. couldn’t ask for more. Hook ups for one rig and a place to dump if needed. Really enjoyed chatting when we got there, can’t wait for Covid to pass so you can relax and enjoy the hosts even more.
Super nice folks at Gramps. Lots of space to choose from in their yard. Thanks for the local information and letting us stay!
This was just a quick stop for me but the hosts were wonderful! I had the homemade cookies inhaled before I was even set up! Great quick stay!
We had a very enjoyable chat with our host at Gramps place. Learned about their van life experience. We loved our welcome treat. Had a quiet, dark, and level spot just what we like. Only wish we could’ve stayed longer.
we will be back.
Another nice stay here. Didn't get to visit much since we were keeping our distance, but the screened area in the back yard was great place to get some fresh air. Super hosts.
What a wonderful stay! We were welcomed and shown where to park, then what a bonus, delicious cookies WOW! So much here to do and see, seafood restaurants, parks, lakes, we hope to come back and explore more.
Great overnight with such thoughtful hosts that greeted us with information about the area. We stopped at a seafood stand on the way in (My Way seafood) wonderful!
We hope to stay again on our way home!
The hosts were a pleasure to meet and they were very accommodating. We were welcomed with delicious brownies and a wealth of information about the area. This was a perfect and quiet place to stay along our journey. Thank you for your hospitality and we hope to return!
To us it was a hidden gem in the Florida panhandle, especially if you like seafood, and I mean oysters. The host were extremely welcoming and extremely helpful. Parking our Class C was so easy since their front yard is basically flat land to park on. 30 amp service is available if needed along with access to grill and patio. Our 2 dogs loved the property also and felt right at home. Great area to bike or walk to restaurants. We didn't get to spend much time with them but from the short discussion we had they had lots of RV experience to share that I wish I could have taken advantage of. Thank you!
Gramp’s place was beautiful and quiet. The host had treats and information when I got there. They were a pleasure to meet. Will definitely stay again.
Friendly and great hospitality I wish to be more common. There was complete quietness in this great location. I look forward to meeting again.
Enjoyed this quaint town so much that I extended my stay to a third night. Especially due to the hostess' tour of the ares. This was my first Welcome Boondockers stay and I am so happy with the experience. I am looking forward to my return to this area when hunting season is over so I can take full advantage of the hiking, birding trails. Thank you! Oh, and the cookies were an added welcome touch.
Quick reply to my request, very convenient, level, quiet location. They welcomed me with offer of hook-ups and local info. I would definitely like to come back, thanks for your hospitality!
Our hosts greeted us with brownies in one hand and information about the area in the other. They showed us where to park, let us plug into 30 amp and encouraged us to use their screened area in the back yard. They pointed us in the right direction for some very good BBQ just down the road.
Communications prior to our arrival were excellent. There are some tree roots in the parking area but by putting our back wheels past them, we were able to get our Class B perfectly level without using any leveling blocks.
Would love to return as there are so many places to explore in the area! Awesome hosts!
Welcomed with smiles, chocolate brownies, map of local to-dos, and a list of helpful information--these delightful hosts went above and beyond. It was so relaxing to know we had a safe and pleasant place to stay for two nights. We highly recommend these awesome hosts. Thank you and it was great to meet you both.
What amazing hosts here! Gramps and his wife immediately greeted me, with printed out information on places to visit around the area from sites to restaurants and more. I was also given homemade lemon pound cake, which was absolutely delicious!! They are so friendly and kind, I definitely felt welcome here! Thank you!
Bob was there when we arrived. Very friendly and helpfull. Will return to be able to spent more time to enjoy the area around them. We thank you for a great visit.
A very nice site in a beautiful location. Very friendly and helpful hosts. We could not ask for more. Thanks once again!
We had a very nice stay. Our hosts were so gracious and welcoming, especially with those brownies! It was great talking with them about their travels and the transition back from being full-timers.
Thank you for a great place to stay for two nights. Easy place to find, great couple and interesting area. So much to see in this area.
Gramp’s place was very welcoming and accommodating. Offered hook-ups if needed. We took their recommendation for dinner and really enjoyed some fresh seafood. Recommended.
We stayed for a night passing through, and were welcomed with a sweet treat as others mentioned, such a nice touch! We had a quiet night in after a long day exploring St Marks Wildlife refuge, so didn’t get to chat with them much, but the hosts were very gracious and super helpful offering tips on places to check out in the area.
Our hosts welcome us with delicious chocolate chip cookies. Gramps and his wife are really nice. thank you again
We had a nice quiet overnight stay at Gramp's Place. Easy to find location and simple pull in to nice level site. We had a quiet evening and great rest at their site..... excellent wiFi and some yummy treats where provided that really spoiled us!!!
We hope to reciprocate and have the opportunity to host picard247 at our BDW host site if they make it to our area in the future!
Wonderful hosts. They offered us water, electric, wifi, on their lovely one acre of property. We enjoyed a fun evening with them and a neighbor. The night was very peaceful. Would love to stay again if we're in the area.
nos hotes ont été très accuillant, endroit tranquille et les brownies wow délicieux!!! Je reviendrais n'importe quand. Merci
Thank you both for a wonderful welcoming stay!
What a way to travel, ...being greeted by new friends with a bowl of home baked brownies at the end of a long travel day, ...then sitting around chatting during the evening.
Thank you both for showing us around. You are certainly two engineers the way you have designed everything from the trap door on the porch to the blue bench and cemetery 😊(??). We did have a wonderful visit.
The next day we re-lived our visit all over again as we enjoyed the delicious brownies.
Thank you.

These hosts couldn’t be better. I was met with a plate of homebaked goods and tons of tourist info with an invitation to make myself at home. My first night there were two other guest vehicles so we spent a lovely evening swapping travel stories. My second night I was invited for dinner and enjoyed getting to know my hosts even better. It was a wonderful visit!
We were welcomed by this very nice couple to their lovely home with huge yard. Two other boondockers were here as well. Spent a lovely evening in gazebo sharing road trip stories. Very enjoyable evening. We would definitely recommend these hosts.
Extraordinary hosts, personable and kind. Site was easy to find , flat, and accessable.
We were greeted with cookies and a much appreciated welcome package. Easy access, a safe location and we had a very quiet night. Highly recommended hosts and location.
We stayed two nights at Gramp’s Place. Host were very friendly and had lots of information and suggestions about things to do. Would recommend this location 😃
Wonderful people. Had a great visit Hope to see them again.
Very friendly people and nice quiet place to spend the night. I highly recommend this stop. Located close to St. Marks NWR. They let me spend an extra night to rest up.
Had a really nice stay. When we got back from exploring on day 2, our hosts was waiting outside with a camp fire going. Had a really nice talk.
The Hosts greated us at our arrival with a warm welcome, some visitor's information package and a little treat ;) that was really appreciated after a long drive.
Realy recommend those hosts to make a stop !
Chocolate chip cookies on my arrival. Who could ask for more?!? Lovely people in a lovely setting!
The host couple welcomed me so warmly with helpful information, electricity, and generosity with food too. The location was easy to find with their directions and to get in with my Class C & tow. I recommend this host and a visit to the Gulf Specimen Aquarium too
Thank you to Gramps Place!
I can’t say enough nice things about this wonderful couple and their private, shady spot for me and my pet family. They were so friendly, kind, thoughtful and generous they reaffirmed my faith there are really good folk in this world. They let me use their water and electric which were convenient and I had a really lovely couple of peaceful nights. I hope to return the favor someday and that we will meet again.

Our host greeted us with lemon bars and invited us over for wine and great conversation after dinner. Our spot was quiet and very pleasant we hope to return the favor some day. So thank you again and safe travels.
We had a wonderful stay. The location was peaceful and quiet and we couldn’t have asked for a better host! Would definitely choose this location again and recommend it to others.
I had a lovely couple of nights in Panacea (LOVE that name!) -- it surely was a cure-all for what ailed me. Overall, a pretty quiet spot with a couple of minor noise surprises. There was a little gun fire off in the distance, off and on. I swear I heard a peacock's calls one night at dusk but not the next...? Bob and Margie were very welcoming and hospitable, including loaning me an extension cord, inviting me to "social hour" with them in the evenings, and inviting me to stay another night or two, if I wanted. If I hadn't had an ocean front reservation waiting for me at Carabelle, I would have said yes!
Despite a family crisis that had our hosts elsewhere, we felt welcomed with a note and suggestions of where to eat and what to explore in the area. Sorry we missed you!! It’s a lovely quiet spot, and we were grateful for your hospitality.
Great place to stay with a friendly host. Water, electric and wifi. Host even made banananut bread. Very restful, quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend this stop.
