Yes. One, well behaved, mixed breed dog.
The Northeast edge of Springfield, MO
They hosted me for 3 nights when I could not find any weekend spots on Route 66. Spent time talking with Jerry and his neighbor and watching them mow grass! Very pleasant
Wandered through Springfield for a day, including the town square where Wild Bill Hickok and Davis Tutt had the first quick-draw shootout in the US. Wild Bill won.
If I am back that way again I will arrange a stay.
Jim is a great host. He met us when we pulled up, helped us back in a perfectly level double driveway and has a 30 amp plug right there. We had a very pleasant conversation for quite a while and we played with his super friendly Snoodle pup. He has had quite a life and is very interesting to listen to. It as raining off and on and we got settled in for the night. This a great place to spend the night and we will return in the future
We stayed here after a 400 mile day 1 of a 10 day adventure on route 66. The site is perfectly level, quiet, easy to access, and has 30Amp clean power. We rested very well and our dogs loved the ability to stretch their legs and sniff cows. We'll stay again soon! Thank you so much!
Our hosts were welcoming, kind and gracious as always. We have family in the area, but they don't have room for our rig, so we plan to return to JMilligan44 again in the future!
We enjoyed our hosts and would have liked to learn more about their life. We had a good nights' sleep and were on our way the next day. If ever this way again, we certainly would try to stay with these fine folks.
While we were only staying one night, we had a great stay at Milligan’s place. We will definitely be back as there’s so much to see in the area. Getting into the space is very easy. We enjoyed chatting with our hosts and watching their pets play in the backyard. Lovely stay, we highly recommend.
This was such a wonderful place to park. It is out in the country, but not too far out of town. Thank you for having us! It was so nice to stop and rest for a couple of days.
A quick trip this time, a little late getting in and left early the next morning, but our host was very understanding and accommodating. A quiet and restful setting - hopefully we'll be able to spend a bit more time there on the return trip!
Quick overnight stay. Host comminicated clear directions via app. Did not see host on site, no need, instructions were crystal clear. Level, gravel drive, quiet rural setting. Would stay here again.
We enjoyed our time (short as it was) at Milligan’s Retreat. It was easily accessible from major highways, yet had a country ambiance. Our hosts were gracious and personable, and had an interesting story to tell. I would definitely stay again if in the area!
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful location. It was peaceful and quiet and just what we needed after a long day of traveling. The hosts were wonderful and so accommodating. We would definitely come back if we are in the area again!
This place was really easy to get to with our 40ft motorcoach. Nice level gravel driveway. You really feel you are out in the country. The hosts are so nice. We enjoyed visiting with them. We are staying there again on our way back through.
The hosts are so friendly and have so many interesting stories to share! Our kids loved their pup and wanted to bring him with us when we left. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!
This is a peaceful country setting, hosted by a very sweet and welcoming couple. We enjoyed walks along the paved county road (very little traffic) and watching the small herd of nanny and baby goats in the nearby neighbors' pasture. There were also a mother and father killdeer watching over their nest with 2 eggs in the field next to us. We highly recommend staying with these kind folks.
We had a great time visiting with JMilligan44!! Great couple with lots of RV experience and wisdom! We already have plans to stay at Milligan's Retreat again the next time we travel through the area. Highly recommend!
I am a healthcare worker and currently on a cross country sprint from one assignment to the next, it was truly such a blessing to have this familiar spot to rest in while in Springfield. The space is large, level and so quiet...got a great night's sleep here. Dearly appreciate the 30 Amp hookup and the offer for fresh water. Due to coronavirus concerns we didn't get to socialize much this trip but luckily we had gotten to hear a bit about their awesome circus journeys on our first pass through in November. Thank you so much for your kind hospitality!
Huge thanks for a lovely welcome and a safe night's stay. Would love to have chatted more, but not easy with all the social distancing!
Will hope to visit again one day.
Highly recommended if you need somewhere in all this nonsense, or any time!
Perfect hosts for the circumstances (Coronavirus, so social isolation); rather than communicate in person, we did it by text. When the Missouri State Parks suddenly closed down, JMilligan44's location and immediately accessible was just right for me to set up quickly in the evening and to leave first thing in the morning on my way home to New York . My traveling companion (puppy) was sure he was in Heaven when he saw the big green grass mowed yard and then realized he was allowed to run all over it, and we both enjoyed listening to the early spring peepers (frogs) when it grew dark and to the birds' magnificent chorus at dawn.
Thanks for making our very first Boondockers experience wonderful. Loved the quiet country setting north of Springfield, MO. Just bought the 34' Montana 3400RL and parking it was a piece of cake due to the wide driveway. The water from their well was perfect and tasteless as it should be. Will be back and they score a perfect 10 out of 10 with us. Grateful to meet these folks. Salute!!
I stayed two nights at this location, easy electric hookup, wide, level driveway. There was plenty of room to safely exercise my dog. The host was warm and welcoming and gave me tips on where to go the following day. The city of Springfield is fairly close by and well worth a visit!
First time Boondocking! Great experience and wonderful hosts!
We enjoyed meeting the hosts and hearing about their adventures! Wonderful couple with a big heart! Great place to stay, a lot of room and it was so quiet! Best night's sleep in months!
This was our first time using Boondockers Welcome and our stay at here was a delight. Easy access, easy set-up, great communication -- what more can we say? We hope to visit again! Thanks
Milligan’s Retreat was a wonderful stop, easy to get to and wide/flat drive when we arrived. Very grateful for the fresh water fill-up and 30 Amp electric. Pretty, quiet country surroundings made for excellent sleeping. Enjoyed chatting with these folks about their circus days, how cool! Thanks for your warm hospitality.
What a great way to share your circus retirement adventure with us when we visited you in your cosy house. Thanks for sharing your experiences and making us feel at home.
Not going too fare as the weather is worse than in Canada☺
Regula and Walter
A nice and warm welcoming at a beautiful clean spot.
Thanks so much for your kind hospitality and all the tips about the area to visit.
Since the weather is so awful, we just do what you recommend:
RELAX and ENJOY
These hosts were over and above wonderful. Our stay here was wonderful. We enjoyed the peaceful property and good conversation as well as what the town of Springfield had to offer. As a mom of four young kids I absolutely recomend staying here.
Wish we could have stayed and visited more with these warm and interesting folks. They care about their guests and extend themselves to make sure guests find the location and have what they need.
Another great Boondockers Welcome experience!
Warm welcoming ... we feel like visiting family 😊
Jerry was very friendly and give us a lot of information about what to see in the area... really appreciated!
Quiet, secure and really nice place. thanks a lot !
Gracious hosts with an easy in/easy out of their property. Our request to stay two nights was not an issue for which we were grateful.
We spent time with our hosts talking about a variety of things including things to see and do in their area.
We’ll probably stop again on our return east in Spring to do the suggested activities.
Perfect almost halfway stop for us and look forward to visiting again.
We had a great experience at the Milligan’s! We weren’t there long but it was easy to find and everything was exactly as said.
Very easy to find and easy access to Springfield, MO. Although J and P were not home they accepted our request, and even provided power. We will stop by again when our travels bring us this way again. Hopefully we will get to meet J and P next time.
thanks to the host for helping us with a quick overnight. was feeling under the weather (aka sick) but they helped with letting us hook up and relax.
the Best things in Life are the People (and Pets) we Love, the places we've been and the MEMORIES we've made along the way .........
We spent 3 nights in Springfield, MO area with amazing hosts and their dog.
J and P greeted us when we arrived and gave us recommendations for food and places to visit during our stay.
We took the advice to eat at Lambert's on our first night and we are so glad we did not miss that experience.
On day two, we did 2 excursions - Fantastic Caverns and the Dickerson Zoo and both were enjoyable.
On our last day we did not want to miss the chance to see the Grandaddy of outdoor stores -> Bass Pro's mothership Store ...omg ... amazing and you could actually spend an entire day there. We planned a visit in the afternoon with J and P which turned into about 8 hours and ended up including meeting one of their daughters and her husband and having dinner with them. They invited us to attend church with them the next day but we had to be on our way to the next stop.
A very special couple that we would love to spend time with again and would even be willing to join the circus with them 🤡.
Thank you for your amazing hospitality.

We loved our time spent with our hosts. Special people who greeted us when we arrived, told us local points of interest and even invited us into their home when our youngest daughter got frightened during a major storm and tornado warning. We enjoyed our visit hearing their stories of the circus and learning some fun math games.
Nice level spot to park in their gravel driveway along a quiet country road yet easily accessible from the highway. Room for our dogs to roam and quaint view of the countryside and a small herd of goats next door.
We were so glad to have stayed here and hope to see them again.
Greats Hosts, Easy access from freeway. Loved the location with the nearby goats and cows. Super quiet, peaceful and enjoyed sitting outside watching the sunset. Would highly recommend!
Thanks for letting us stay at your place!
We had a great time staying the night.
Jag loved the fact he could roam around leash free and we may have lost a ball due to him having so much fun. They are respectful, wise, and great story tellers
We are glad we had a chance to meet them and also tour the first Bass Pro shop area and see the worlds largest fork. Hopefully when we head back west we can meet up with them again!
What a treat it was to spend time with my hosts and their family! We had dinner together and I really felt like I was part of the family. Then we spent the evening exploring my different music instruments and had a great time all together. Thanks again for being so welcoming!
This is an exellent stay at Milligan's Reatreat. Our host was very welcoming and provided great details regarding parking, water and shore power. We wish we could have visited more our hosts! Highly recommend!!
We can not find the right words to write down how lovely the Milligan's are, but we can guarantee that they are wonderful hosts. We were lucky / honored to spend some time with them and they gave us the ultimate American experience that we will never forget. Thank you Milligan's, for this memorial overnight stay!
JMilligan44 was a perfect stop for us as we passed through. Nice large driveway to park our large rig. JMilligan was very friendly and accomodating . Thanks for the stay.
Jerry called us to give us dirmorniections for electric as was not home when we were to arrive. Called later t be sure we were ok. Met with us in the morning for a short visit before we left. Hope to visit again next year. Thanks, Lois, Paul and Lille
Though their regular electric hookup is 50 amp, they switched it over to 30 amp for me before I arrived. They waited for me to get there before attending a family event, and even invited me along! How nice was that? I couldn’t go, but it was really sweet. We got to talk a little in the morning before I had to get back on the road, and they invited me back. Such sweet people!
This is just the place we needed! A nice quiet place for a good night's sleep. The hosts were welcoming and we enjoyed our short visit with them. We will definitely stop by again when we're in the area.
Wow, what a great experience. We really did feel like we were just stopping by to see friends. That's how quickly we were made to feel at home. Great spot to pull in for the night and ended up being invited to stay an extra night. Our hosts have great information about what to see in the area. Just downright good people!
We were very happy to spend the night at your home. it is a very nice and quiet area. We would liked to meet you too. Thank you very much for allowing us to stay in your absence, and offered us water and electricity, very appreciated! We met Basile, the friendly neighbor, who gave us some tasty apples, and also the neighbor's dog, just adorable! If we come back one day, be sure that we will come to meet you!
Jerry and Pat were very welcoming and we had a nice (although brief( visit when we arrived. They're only minutes from the Bass Pro Shop Museum in Springfield so we spent the afternoon and early evening there. Their retreat in the country was super quiet and we appreciated that after spending the previous night at Cracker Barrel by the freeway. They welcomed us to stop again and we will do that next time we find ourselves in the Springfield area
Two brilliant, beautiful souls sharing their own little piece of paradise. Kinder people you will not ever meet. If they had a circus we would run away and join it! =)
J and P greeted us when we arrived and even though they had a big family event going on they took time to make sure we were settled and gave excellent advice on what to do in the area.
The site is surrounded by pastoral views and quiet country. Within 15 minutes you can go to the "beach", view a zoo, make memories in a brewery, be assaulted by rolls (we missed that one), and visit the most amazing, Disneyesque, Bass Pro Shops on the planet. Point is it's peaceful where you park but you are in the middle of it all.
Charming, entertaining, and delightful people. We miss them already. If you are within a 3 day drive of Springfield, you might strongly consider requesting a stay with J and P.
Had a great night at the Milligans’. Very personable , lovely couple, so helpful! Even let me ride along to the grocery store. I really appreciated your hospitality and enjoyed meeting you both!
Boy, after a long day of travel, it was fantastic to be able to stay with Jerry at his home-just off the highway, too. He welcomed us when we arrived and offered electricity and water. After a cheerful chat about the RV life we turned in for a grand night of sleep. Thank you so much!!!! Have fun downsizing your RV for an abundance of future adventures!
