We started full timing in April of 2015 but bought a small house summer of '17(our host location) though plan to spend most of our time on the road. We have traveled now from coast to coast and border to border covering a lot of area. This year, 2019, we were guests across the nation and had some of the best experiences in the years of travel.
I am a retired nurse who worked for many years in home health, overseas and as a nanny as well. I have wide range of interests but primarily love meeting people and finding our commonalities and learning from differences.
My husband is a retired programmer/data processor and also has many interests, especially working outside. He also enjoys meeting people and can often be found conversing with people he meets while walking our cat on his leash.
We have a cat named Cadbury. He is leash trained and a pretty good host to cats who come round to see where he lives. He can take care of himself with dogs unless they are very aggressive. He LOVES people who like cats especially the ones who know how to pet him. :-)
Too hard to tell. We tend to find the positives in each place we visit and with solar and a composting toilet we are able to be pretty self sufficient.
Ulster Park, NY and Sioux Falls, SD Sioux Falls is now our Virtual Mail Box address so when we are off the road for any length of time it's in NY where our youngest son lives and near where the older two (and the grandkids) are in NJ.
8.5 ft wide with 2 slides, 12'4"" high. 33' long. We have a 2004 Honda CRV
Very appreciate guests ... appreciating and enjoying whatever we had to offer. They made us feel like the ultimate in hosts as well. Always welcome back!
As our first boondocker guests, the experience could not have been more spectacular. These guests could not have been any more pleasant, courteous, and family friendly as if they were our own. They truly enjoyed the peace and quiet out here in the country. Our interactions were filled with laughter, stories of their travels, and the feeling that they were welcome here anytime. We will miss them dearly, but anticipate another visit when they are cruising by our area.
Safe travels my friends.
Your hosts at Wattsburgfarm.
Hosted these folks over Labor Day weekend. Self-sufficient and quiet, hardly knew they were there, but made time for some lovely conversation over the weekend. Hope to see them back.
Amazing diary of travels. And sweet feline companion. Living life to the fullest. Fun to be around.
Edc1951 stayed for a week and we had a very enjoyable chats. 7 degrees of separation is alive and well as we have several relatives and acquaintances with fewer than 7 degrees. We hope to stay at their location later in the summer. Always welcome again.
Had great visits and good wine with Edc1951 they are welcome back anytime
A very friendly couple, eager to visit. We enjoyed spending time with them and hope they come back by some day. They were interesting to talk with.
Very quiet, and worn out, but opened up towards the end of their stay, had a cold rainy and snowy go in the beginning but a strong push through that and got to see some sights, they were great guests, we had a Memorial Day cookout with some friends and they joined right in, they are welcome to stay again, and hopefully with better weather so you can see more of what Idaho has to offer, it is a great place. See you again soon.
These were nice people. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible their entire visit.
They were easy to communicate with prior to arrival and were great guests.
We wish them safe travels and they are welcome to stay here again.
We were so glad that Edc1951 was able to spend the evening at our home. Thanks so much for the entertaining conversation and information regarding Ashfall Fossil Beds. We are looking forward to visiting there soon.
Safe travels, and enjoy the journey!
Great guest extremely friendly and enjoy their company. Temp was 35 to 40 degrees. Talked about traveling and all sorts of stuff including kids handprints on car until it was too cold to stand outside. Good luck with your travels
These guys spent most of a week with us. The first few days we barely knew they were here because they were out doing their own things. Our friends from Canada came in the middle of the week as did the rain, so we missed them for another day. Finally the weekend arrived, and we all got together and had a great night playing Sequence, drinking wine, and eating dessert! They are super friendly and had many stories to tell about their travels and multiple places they've lived.
They were truly great Boondockers, and we are glad they stopped to visit. We hope to see them again!
Edc1951 exemplify what Boondockers Welcome is all about. What a delight hosting these wonderful folks. Our BW rules state to 'Have Fun' and 'Bring warm smiles' and they did this in spades. They took full advantage of events in the area including an outing to pick strawberries with my wife. I can't say enough good things about these folks. By all means consider hosting them. I promise you that you will enjoy their stay. As I've always said, "If you can't be on the road traveling, having the road come to you is the next best thing." We enjoyed every minute of time we spent together. They are most certainly welcome back to our place anytime.
Only had a short visit with them before they pulled out. No problem having them here and they are welcome back any time.
Quiet place to park. Couple very willing to share their favorite resources with this newbie.
This Boondock was rich with historic information about Franklin Roosevelt and many other things a lot of history in the area and our hosts were very informative showed us all the wonderful sights. They had a very nice binder for boondockers. Overall the great experience
We really enjoyed talking with edc1951. Nice level parking spot in a beautiful area. We hope to see them again sometime!
Another great BW stay for us western USAers. Our gracious hosts were so interesting in mulitple ways!!! Local history, family history, international experiences, national travel experiences. It was a priviledge to stay with them and we hope they will visit us when travelling the west coast!!!
Great directions and communication. We always learn something from our guest and hosts. Thank you for the tip on the E clothes. I love looking out a clear window for a change.
If you are looking for a place to stay that is target rich in things to see and do in New York, this might be a good stop over for you. We certainly enjoyed being just minutes away from Roosevelt’s Presidential Library and Museum, the Walkway over the Hudson River, just a few minutes from the Poughkeepsie train station for a train ride into New York City to catch a Broadway show.
Directions provided by the host were spot on, and we had no trouble finding it. You have to back into the driveway from the road, but don’t let that scare you. The host’s site is on a dead end road and as such, there is no traffic to worry about while you are positioning your rig in the road to get into the drive. Once you are in the driveway it is a straight shot back to a level concrete pad. Heaven!
You will be in a very quiet neighborhood well away from the busy streets. A big thanks to our host for letting us stay here for a few days so that we could see the area.
