We're usually state park campers and aren't sure if we are BW people, but I can't complain about someone who opens up their property to let people camp on it for free. Our hosts were very friendly, provided water and electric hook ups, and gave us a tour of "the shop". They have a gravel spot at the bottom of the hill that slopes slightly toward the river, but I did not have any trouble getting level. The site is about 100 feet from the house and another 150 feet to the river. They have a pier that you can fish off of, and they are more than happy to have you play pool or shuffleboard in the shop. They also gave us some tips about visiting nearby Granbury, which is a nice town with some good history. A word of caution to families - the shop has some pictures of scantily clad women, and they have a couple of confederate flags, which some might find offensive. Overall, we enjoyed our getaway.
I stopped here for one day with my 2 dogs and had a great time! Larry and Linda were very welcoming! Can’t wait to come back!
What a great, fun couple! We totally enjoyed their company as well as other family members we met while there. They are generous and knowledgeable about the area. And had a fabulous time at a Super Bowl party -- Go Chiefs! The location of the property is amazing, with calm waters and beautiful sunsets. Thank you both for the opportunity to share this time. PS - they also have welcoming dogs that we fell in love with.
We had a great experience at the Hideaway - it was very easy to find and parking was also easy. Hosts greeted us upon arrival and were very friendly - even offering some fresh eggs that made a delicious breakfast!
We also had some scheduling delays and hosts were very flexible and generous.
Location was quiet and right on the river. Anything we needed (propane, food, etc.) was within a half-hour.
THANKS SO MUCH!! :)
We had a great time visiting with the hosts and felt very welcomed like we’d been here before. Our trailer had developed a brake line leak and our hosts provided some on hand brake fluid to top off the system after taking care of the leak. These folks are really serious about sharing their place with strangers but for sure we’ve made life time friends. During our visit we discovered we have mutual friends that have stayed here also. It’s a small world and we were blessed to make new friends. Safe travels
This was our first experience with BoondockersWelcome, and it was fantastic! Our hosts were outgoing and friendly, but also gave us our space. We were in town visiting family, and were thrilled to stay at The Hideaway during one of their big community parties (they warned us ahead of time that this would be the case). It was a great time with an incredible fireworks show, live band, and 50+ friendly strangers. We were able to stay down by the river since it wasn't flooded. We very highly recommend The Hideaway and are grateful for our hosts' generosity! Hopefully we'll be back to visit around Thanksgiving, and we owe them lunch. :)
Excellent hosts and great people,
Had many talks sitting on the porch, sharing quality time drinks and food.
Thank you for letting us feel at home and being our friend's.
We stayed one night in route to a short trip destination. We decided to break up the travel by staying with a boondocker. It was a great decision. This is a super host. He is nice, generous, and informative. The location is a serene rural location on a part of Lake Granbury. There are electric hook-ups which are offered for free. You will have a great time staying with this boon docker.
Memoriable first meeting (ask them) lol.
Larry is a hoot. Linda, the most gracious, generous, beautiful lady. Miss y'all.
I was treated like a member of the family. I enjoyed a lot of social activity during the weekend. BBQ's , A Crawfish boil, something new to this Michigan gal. Fun fun fun! Dancing, staying up too late, and played a couple games of pool. Met folks from "the river" that treated me fantastic!
P.S. It's a " dry" county so bring your beer!
This was my first Boondock experience, and I can't say enough about the location or my hosts. Larry and Linda were wonderful hosts. We spent several nights sitting on their deck looking out over the river, talking and drinking wine. A big storm rolled through with possible hail and Larry had me put my truck in his shop so it wouldn't get damaged if it did hail. Larry even gave me fresh eggs that were so delicious. I truly enjoyed my stay at their Hideaway.
Larry & Linda are amazing hosts. They did everything they could to make my stay perfect. Two of my dogs got loose the first morning and Larry took me in his gator to find them. He notified the neighbors through the emergency link they all have and within the hour My two miscreants were safely back in my RV. That evening they invited me to join them on their deck to enjoy a glass of wine, visit, and watch a gorgeous sunset over the river that flows by their place. The next night, Larry built a campfire and we looked at the stars while enjoying another leisurely evening. They definitely went above and beyond to make my stay relaxing and enjoyable. I definitely will be back to spend time with my new friends.
We had a great stay , they have a very nice set up, after leaving there we traveled into west Texas, what a drastic difference, this was our first time really visiting the state. There river site is very tranquil, hope to visit again next winter
We really enjoyed our time here. Our hosts were very accommodating and provided a great spot for us to park. Due to the rain we weren't able to park near the river as some other guests previously mentioned. We did get quite a bit of rain during our stay and had to wait for a couple of days of sunshine in order to get out. We didn't mind though, because we had plenty to keep us occupied. Our host had a great "man cave" with games and cable TV to which he generously allowed us access. The drive to Weatherford was short and even closer was a local cafe (Mary's Brazos Cafe) that had some excellent banana pudding! Our only regret was not getting to spend more time getting to know our hosts.
Larry n Linda are a gracious couple that strife to make your visit to THE HIDEAWAY
a true pleasure. They treat you like family by including you in w their activities on the
back porch wo being over-bearing. If you want space & privacy they give it to you.
THE HIDEAWAY behind their Country home is several acres located on a major
Texas river w (normally) several options of where to park your RV.
Unfortunately while we were there Mother Nature & a very unusual amount of fall rain,
caused the river to flood onto the lowlands, but Larry offered me a nice Plan B.
Thank you Larry & Linda, our experience of visiting w both of you & your beautiful
Hideaway was mostly a pleasure & a VERY INTERESTING EXPERIENCE.
We do hope to meet-up w both of you again in the future.
This was a wonderful 2 night stay. Because of all the recent rain and flooding, we were not able to stay in their normal dedicated area down by the river. But, they very nicely accommodated us by letting us stay in their front yard. We still were able to sit on their back porch watching the sun set both evenings. Our host were so nice and enjoyable to talk to, we spent our last evening with them and other family members. It was such a nice stay, we look forward to stopping by again.
Just before we were to stay here, the river went over the banks and flooded much of the property, but instead of turning us away, they found a way to accommodate us!
We arrived a bit late, but we still received a warm welcome and a tour of what hadn't been underwater, which was pretty amazing! I cant wait to go back for one of their big get together on the river sometime!
Oh, and as a bonus, we got to relax in the hot tub before heading out the next morning! A big thank you to our hosts!
This was more like a mini vacation than a boondocking experience! Our hosts made us feel very welcome and was able to hook up to water and power with ease. We parked by the river.
Would highly recommend this place!
Great hosts. Can’t say enough...helpful, gracious, accommodating and that was just for the people part. Beautiful setting...quiet, private and serene. This was my first Boondock experience which set the bar pretty high for when I set up for hosting in the future.
Very nice and helpful. Made us feel very welcome. Right on the river. Elect hook up and level spot. Will be back.
We had such a wonderful time being so close to the river. We arrived and our host directed us to a power supply down the hill. We had no idea that it was going to be so beautiful! Right on the river with it’s calm waters, watching the sunset.
Beautiful land with water front view. 2 beautifully generous fun loving people in Linda and Larry. Had some great conversations with the both. Hope to be drive by some time for another stay
Larry and Linda were so kind and hospitable. Nice folks to visit with.
