We have been married 42 years and have had an assortment of RVs since the mid 70s. Recently retired and purchased new Super C to travel and enjoy each other and sights within the USA. "Grandpa" has been a professional Drag Racer with NHRA, IHRA,Prostar, and SMDRA. He raced motorcycles from the 70s until 2008. Now we have slowed down the pace and race a Chevy S10 in the eighth mile sportsman class.
Joined Boondockers in hopes that travels will be having us see locations other than race tracks.
"Grandpa" is a motor head, excellent mechanic and engine builder and tuner. OCD for details on any and all mechanical things. Schoolmarm is great with kids, computers, crafts and can also help tune a motor and clean carbs. Grandpa is a professional Drag Racer. He has won championships on motorcycles but at 70 years he has given up the motorcycle for an S10 Chevy truck but not given up racing . Linda is the crew chief on and off the track!
We have a dog named Camo. She is 12 years old and goes EVERYwhere with us. She is combo Catahoula and Blue Healer. We think she is gifted as she follows and understands everything we say. In March of 2018 we were given a second dog a pure breed Blue Healer. The two dogs are now best pals and very well behaved at home the same as they learn to travel together with us.
Hope to do more recreational camping than just traveling to and from racing venues.
Boondocking looks like it beats Walmart and rest areas.
First Boondockers experience was with a family just outside Houston, TX. Excellent experience. This is a highly recommened resource.
Now that we have hosted several Boondockers on our property we have a better idea of what to do and how to be the best Boondockers we can.
We are from South West Florida. "Grandpa" is a Florida cracker born and raised in central and south FLorida. "Schoolmarm: came to FLorida in 1972 from Massachusetts and taught Special Ed in Immokalee, Florida for 30+ years and then 10+ years in Fort Myers.
2018 Thor 35SM Chateau Super C. 550 Super Duty turbo Diesel. It has 2 slide outs on the right side. We have 2 trailers that we can tow. When going to racing venues to race we have a 24' tag trailer that has our Chevy S10 race truck, golf cart and equipment. When not racing we have a 14' tag open flat trailer so we can bring our Nissan Versa with us.
SchoolmarmandGpa were some of "coolest" guests yet! He is a champion motorcycle drag racer and is still on the track in modified trucks at 70 plus! They were wonderful guests with two beautiful and well behaved dogs. Ask school marm to show you the picture of her on a huge trike, it awesome. Hope to see them again when we hit the road.
marion and linda are perfect boondockers, quiet an respectful of our place, I think we made new friends and welcome them back anytime, they needed to stay longer because of hurricane and were helpful with other boondockers that were arriving
Can't say enough good things about these people. We are new to RVing and have been traveling in Florida for several months. Stayed here and with the guidance, help and generosity of the host couple were able to solve several issues with our travel trailer. Cleaned trailer and awning, added new generator platform to back of trailer through one of their contacts, secured generator to new platform, painted trailer platform and tongue, removed rattle by securing truck hitch, trouble shot water heater. The hosts are very knowledgeable and generous with their tools and advice. Great location with lots of room. Definitely plan to stay in touch with our new friends and stay again sometime in the future. Highly recommend them.
Such a great location. In addition to the wonderful hosts, you're very conveniently located to groceries, shopping and whatever you need. Naples or Sanibel Island beaches are only an hour away.
These hosts are wonderful, we will be back next time we're in the area!
Grandpa and Schoolmarm were the best hosts! Our dogs got along beautifully and we felt very much at home. We enjoyed a lovely New Year's Eve dinner with them and happily extended our stay. They were such friendly and generous hosts and we had a great time!
We had some good conversation and a nice spacey site.
We look forward to coming back if in the area and the host is available.
Couldn’t have asked for a nicer couple. Very informative with rvs and cars if having any problems. Hope to see them down the road and hope to see them drag racing sometime as well
We stayed here for almost a week, and are sad to be leaving. Quiet spot with great pool, nice dogs and even better people.
Grandpa runs an excellent grill and Grandmarm was a kind and charming hostess. We enjoyed stories from their many years of racing, and history/life together. They definitely love to socialize, but also gave us all the space we needed to get some things done and do lots of exploring around too.
It happened that we got here at the same time as another couple from WA state! and we all enjoyed a New Years Eve dinner together :)
We will most certainly back next year, and will talk to them about reserving our place a year ahead of time so we don't miss out next winter haha.
A fantastic experience in every way.
So in short, you will love the place and these two- but don't even think about coming here when we are passing through :D
Excellent location near Fort Meyers, hosts are great people with outgoing and fun personality. Easy to park near water and 15 amp power. We were rained out almost the whole time which limited our exploration but enjoyed the stay.
Nice big area to pull into, parking spot almost perfectly level, water & power.
The hosts were awesome, very welcomeing, loved listening to Marion and Linda's stories.
Thanks a lot for the good time
This was a most pleasant stay at a time when we had to do some warranty work in Fort Myers. We enjoyed sitting on their patio with great conversation and watching our dogs romp around off-leash. I can’t say enough about how wonderful and accommodating they made our stay. Thank you and your two very sweet pooches.
Very interesting couple. Loved hearing about their racing. We had a comfortable place to hook up to electric and were made to feel welcome. Hope they can make it to Ohio sometime.
We met a wonderful couple, Linda and Marion (aka SchoolmarmandGpa) on our very first Boondockers Welcome adventure. They were unbelievably helpful in every regard, including fixing some issues with our motorhome and giving us towing advice. We had a chance to check out their new motorhome and GrandPa's racing car. (This is not something one can experience every day!) They offered us to stay longer and we gladly did so in they nice and spacious backyard. Their dogs were as welcoming as them and we made friends with them right away.
All in all, our stay was awesome and we hope to meet them again in the future.
Linda and Marion, your hospitality was terrific, we'll recommend you to every boondockers!
We had a nice peaceful stay here. Linda and Grandpa were both very friendly and welcomed us as soon as we got there. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area!
Well this was a surprise. A comfortable parking spot with hydro and water what more could you ask for. We also made friends and stayed longer then anticipated. They are two wonderful people and we had great conversations and they even showed us around town. I would recommend this spot. WE plan to meet again on the road. Thank you again Marion and Lynda.
As of this writing I have not met this couple.
I will however be in Florida this spring and hopefully will be able to connect.
