I like to go to back road locations with our camper truck, I like to design build and fabricate things. We had two children a boy and a girl, recently lost the boy. We have traveled many places in the world, including China, Europe, Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and more. We went to the winter olympics in 1976 and picked a new car in Stuttgart also. I am a private pilot and I flew my airplane back and forth to my business for 10 years. Now we are doing more local travel. I like woodworking, photography and boating.
Mechanic, welder, contractor, electrical, air conditioners, anything in a car or a building. Wood working.
2 dogs, 3 cats
Still deciding on favorites. But we like the National Parks in general.
Coulterville for the last ten years, born and raised in Santa Cruz, CA.
Dodge 2500, with an Eagle Cap 950, 4wd, modified engine and transmission in my home shop.
Great host, friendly, very accommodating and knowledgeable. I am thankful for his experience and help. Nice place regardless if one is heading to Yosemite.
Air commuter and family are exceptionally high quality people. Warm friendly social helpful intelligent experienced and accommodating. Let me stay longer than anticipated due to mechanical issues AND And a source of information not only about the local area and thought about my mechanical problems in depth. Truly authentically caring - PRICELESS🎁🎁🎁
The venue itself is quiet, peaceful, Trees, Country setting including dear and doggies, well water and solid electrical. 40 minutes from Yosemite park entrance.
Definitely stock up on your groceries and fuel before you arrive because there’s not many services nearby and they are jacked up in price. If you’re going to Yosemite use the Valero 12 miles on the way as they don’t jack up their gas prices.
Would definitely stay again.
We had a nice stay at Aircommuters spot!! It was very secluded and had pretty good access (do not take 49 to access it lol it is a nerve wrecking drive he will give you some better options if your gps takes you this way). We saw many deer and it was perfect weather. Great location to Yosemite only about 40-50 min drive. Do not be alarmed by falling acorns if you stay under his beautiful oak tree!! Haha overall nice stay I really wish we had more time to talk to our friendly host I got to chat with before we left. Hopefully we can get the full tour next time 😊
Our stay at Aircommuter met all our expectations and then some! We so appreciated the hookups and wifi and felt SO fortunate to get a pass to get into Yosemite 2 times during our stay. We loved sitting out in the woods with our camp chairs soaking up tbe nature sounds. We were even treated to Fresh homemade guacamole by our host. The tour of his shop and equipment was amazing. This couple is living their dreams building their own home. Thank you for your generosity as it was SO appreciated after 3 months of the pandemic lockdown.
While I didn't get to meet the host, they made arrangements to get me set up for the night. Spot was level and in beautiful woods.
We thank John for his offer to let us stay at his place for one night. He was flexible because we changed dates and even the amount of days. We had a really nice conversation and shared experiences about life and our countries. His place is in the middle of a forest with everything a RV could ask for. We had the best and most stable internet connection of our whole journey so far. Definitely a great host and spot to be :)
Aircommuter hosted us en-route to Yosemite and gave us a tour of his wood shop and auto shop - we have never seen anything so big. He is a building a home from scratch though - it's very impressive to see his work. He was a lovely host and made us very welcome. Thanks!
A great stay with a welcoming and interesting host. Thanks Aircommuter for the space and your of your workshops. Best of luck with everything!
A wonderful welcome from our hosts. Very interested to hear all about them and how they got to be hosting visiting RVs.
We would love to have stayed longer but our time was limited.
We also recommend the smoke house diner in the village..Jeff and his father produced meals during the power outages.
Lovely couple of days. Many thanks
Aircommuter is a consummate host who treated us like old friends. My husband and I had a terrific time touring his woodworking and metalworking shops, whose tools from the 1920-1950's have been restored to working condition and would befit a museum. The site is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. We will be back!
With the help of the host we could find the spot easily. It was e really quiet place and the best opportunity
to stay one night since we couldn't get a campground with our RV in the park. The host told us a lot of stories out of his life. I could have listen a way longer. It was really impressive what he built at his property.
So wonderful couple... charming, welcoming, generous, so much talented... very inspiring people!
Very nice place too, quiet, beautiful scenery, perfect to explore Yosemite park !
Thanks a lot John and Ann ❤️ Denis and I really appreciated meeting you. If one day you decide to come in Quebec it will be a real pleasure to welcome you.
John was extremely helpful and hooked us up with power for the night. The location was a bit remote but worth the drive. We only stayed one night because it's nearly an hour drive to the Yosemite National Park entrance. We would recommend this host anytime.
Our stay was too short at Aircommuter. We had a quiet night and had some very interesting information. We highly recommend Aircommuter. Thank you very much for your hospitality, Rachelle & Yves.
John was very kind. The hookups all worked perfectly. He recommended a BBQ place nearby that was delicious. We hope to come back someday!
John was very welcoming and eager to answer any questions we had. We had a great time and highly recommend staying there!
Our hosts were very gracious! We had a short but lovely stay on their beautiful property! My children were smitten with their dogs & will talk about this visit for some time. My husband could have stayed and chatted with our host for days! So very thankful for this experience!
My husband and I stayed with Aircommuter and his wife at their location just outside the Western entrance to Yosemite National Park. The location was absolutely perfect and peaceful. The Hosts were amazing and my husband and John became quick buddies! John and his wife are very endearing people and they are extremely interesting to talk to. John is a jack of all trades and he is an expert builder. He showed us his restored Juke Boxes, and historic cash registers and scales as well as many of the projects that he is currently working on in his very unique machine shop.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this location and hope to be back in the future!
A great stop off place if you want to run into Yosemite and the property is a haven and our host was great with many stories. A real font of knowledge on all subjects,
John and Ann were so hospitable and easy to talk to! They have a really cool property nestled in the mountains with an AWESOME shop and an incredible house they are building themselves!! They also have the sweetest animals - we loved petting the cats and throwing the ball for Rocky! They were amazing hosts and very talented people. I feel lucky to have met them and very thankful for their hospitality. I hope our paths cross again in the near future!!
Warm welcome received and we enjoyed our stay. Plan to be back if we are in the neighbourhood.
Would highly recommend if you are visiting Yosemite National Park.
John and Ann are remarkable people. They are so creative and talented and we learned a few construction tricks too. Their place is beautiful with tall cedars everywhere. We will ALWAYS remember the stories and the hospitality! Thanks for everything. We DEFINITELY recommend them to anyone looking for a great place to stay!
John was very friendly and inviting. His life story was very intriguing and it was a pleasure to stay with him at his home.
Another great host. Would recommend.
Thanks John!!.
Quiet and beautiful area with a great host. Lot of knowledges. Thanks for having us.
We had a major mishap with our nearly brand new Hensley hitch right as we arrived (as in...broken in half and an Airstream on the ground 😳)
John to the rescue! He is an absolute pro at welding and fixed us up even better than new. We then went on to enjoy his and Ann's company and to check out his incredible projects. I cannot express my gratitude enough for these two for helping us out of a tough spot.
Wonderful couple with big hearts, we would highly recommend.
We had to change our plans, and John was most accomodating.
We had a great conversation about all manner of subjects.
Great visit, great guy.

Campgrounds at Yosemite fill up years in advance and RV parks in the area can be pricey, so we were very grateful to be able to stay at this beautiful spot in the woods for three days. To our host: thank you so much for being so welcoming, and best of luck with all of your wonderful building projects!
Wonderful peaceful, quiet location! Our host was so nice and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Great central location to Yosemite and Gold country. So helpful having electricity and water and WiFi. Easy in and out. Verizon cell service was almost nonexistent, but at&t and host’s WiFi worked fine! Would definitely recommend this location!
Host is an excellent. Very kind and friendly. This spot makes it easy to drive up to the Big Flat Oak entrance to Yosemite (40 minutes). We learned a lot about the area from our host and would stay again if in the area.
John was extremely helpful, always answering our messages really quickly. We could stay on his very nice patch of land and enjoy the silence and beautiful landscape around. Thanks again for being so welcoming!
Great spot nestled in the foothills outside of Yosemite national Park. Beautiful trees quiet. Our host was very engaging, good conversation.
Host's were very nice and accommodating. Very cool property. Wasn't difficult to find or navigate my 26ft trailer to. They had a couple dogs and a few cats that were all very sweet. Only about an hour drive to Yosemite. Would love to stay here again.
We had a great time here. The location was wonderful and we would highly recommend!
We had two great nights visiting and meeting Aircommuters.
Their location was spectacular and so very quiet. It was a good location to be able to spend a day at Yosemite National Park.
We enjoyed the tour and getting to know Rocky and Minnie.
I hope for the best when their home is completed.
Lovely people and they live in a wonderful area. Was for us a perfect spot after visiting Yosemite NP. Thanks for staying at your Great place!
Johan and Loes, The Netherlands
Our host has a wealth of knowledge about the area and just about anything else under the sun. We enjoyed chatting with our host as he is very friendly and interesting. We also enjoyed the peace and solitude of the property’s surrounding forest. We were grateful for the host site’s proximity to Yosemite, the ease of access and the beautiful location. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Wow, what a fabulous stop over on our way to Yosemite!!! Host offered power & water. Multiple places to overnight on this beautiful property. Cool & quiet yet convenient to a small community store. We will be back any time we are in the area! Thank you so much for your friendly hospitality!
Such a prime location with a great host.
Thanks for the tour and the services.
Sorry we had to take off so early.

This was a wonderful location while visiting Yosemite! My husband enjoyed chatting about all the work done on the property and "tinkering" being done.
We had a wonderful time in a wonderful area. The communication was very good. We wish them lots of succes finishing their house. We felt us more then welcome. Thanks for everything.
Enjoyed our ‘out of the way” stay at “Aircommuter’s! In the hills of beautiful Maripisa County.
John was very helpful with suggestions when I was in the planning stage of our trip as well as ideas where to go from here.
Convenient to Yosemite.
Thank you for your hospitality! And when you get your camper on the road please drop in to “Fox Den”
Unfortunately, due to RV repairs we were unable to get to John. However, he sounded great and we are sorry to have missed out on staying with him.
I was not able to stay at Aircommuter's home because my van was giving me trouble. I had great communication and feedback from Aircommuter and would like to stay there some other time.
