We are retired and loved travelling in our RVs. Our first rig was an older motorhome, which we took on a short trip to see if we would like Rving. We both had the best time. We took that first rig on a trip to south Texas for the winter. We then bought a brand new Class A motorhome in 2005 and sold it in 2012 after a couple of years of not being able to travel much. We then owned two new Fifth Wheel Trailers. Both are now gone. We have recently purchased a travel trailer so that we can continue to enjoy travelling across Canada and the U.S. exploring new places, meeting new people and seeing the beautiful countryside we live in.
We are both pretty handy and have done many DIY home renovation projects. Jenne loves to cook, make greeting cards and has computer skills. Marcel is our all around handy man who likes to do wood work, read and paint in his spare time.
Interstate Rest areas, casinos, the odd Walmart or Flying J. We have also spent a night at a Camping World (with electricity). Our preferred locations are definitely rest areas and casinos.
Kemptville is located on Highway 416, approximately 30 km south of Ottawa (Canada's capital city) and 35 km north of Highway 401 and the Canada/U.S. border. It is flanked by several historic and charming small towns, the Rideau River and the Rideau Canal, which runs to Kingston, Ontario. A drive to Watertown, NY is 1.5 hours; Montreal is 2 hours and Toronto is about 4.5 hours away by car. Our town offers pretty much every service one needs/wants, such as: hospital, banks, grocery stores, restaurants (fast food, ethnic, pubs, family and fine dining), coffee and specialty shops, bowling alley, entertainment and local theatre, library, Walmart Supercentre, Canadian Tire store, Staples, and more businesses are continually being added to the Colonnade Shopping Complex. Our location is peaceful and serene and although we have neighbours, they are not on top of us. The streets are ideal for leisurely walks and bike riding. There are great cross country ski trails within 3 km of our house and downhill skiing is about 1.5 hours away.
We have a 2014 Jayco JayFlight 238 and tow it with a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited.
Warm and welcoming is what they are all about. What a great evening of conversation. They were extremely helpful. Loved it.
There was interesting conversation on host porch.
Nice quiet location in a calm environment.
We thought we had left a referral or these kind people when we confirm the check out however it's so important that we do say a few words about them we're going to do it here as well.
Jen and Marcel went out of their way to ensure we were set up and comfortable. Such lovely people they had electric connected to our vehicle and their vehicle leveled in their parking area within minutes of arrival. We also got to visit and tour their fifth wheel which they have recently sold.
Coffee and chatting on the deck until it was too dark to see the amazing pictures in their photo books was just an added highlight of our stay.
These Hosts made us feel so welcome with coffee time and chatting about places they've been and places we should and should not go. Their years of experience made us even more excited on the adventures we have ahead of us.
They set us up to receive a bonus when we signed up for Passport America which we already have done. Thanks for the tip and thanks for the 3-month extension on our membership.
Their home is a short drive from Ottawa and was a great stopover point for us.
We hope to see them both on our future travels and perhaps will dropping again to stay for a night.
Thank you for your hospitality and your generous spirit.
We stayed with BusyRetirees on Sept 5/17 and they were warm and welcoming. This was our first time using Boondockers Welcome and it was a great experience. Providing us with power and water and a bedtime snack, we had great conversation and a fantastic nights sleep after spending a couple of nights at truck stops. Thanks so much for your insight, advise, friendship and great hosting. Highly recommend staying here to anyone travelling through the area (if they're not out using 'Boondockers Welcome' themselves..).
An additional note: our having a dog with us was not an issue.
Great new friends we hope to meet up with on the road.

Marcel and Jeannette took time from their very busy schedule to welcome us, insure we were set up in their driveway and later made recommendations about sites to visit around the area. We spent a wonderful day hiking through a nearby forest and then along a trail on the historic Rideau canal, as well as a short time at the local farmer's market. We appreciated their hospitality.
