We are in our mid seventies. He is a retired heating and air conditioning contractor. She is retired sign shop owner and previously, secretary. We enjoy camping and travelling. We live in the country, close to a city of about 110,000. He is in the process of restoring a Model A car and is a tinkerer of everything. She enjoys watercolour painting. He is a private pilot and currently we own an airplane, but are in the process of looking for a new owner for her. We have family in Texas (Houston and Dallas) and spend Christmas with them and sometimes spend the winter there but most winters we spend in Florida.
We have an apartment in the basement of our house and most times it is rented and someone is here in case there is a problem.
He can fix almost anything. So can she. Today she was bucking rivets on the airplane door. She is the computer guru but still has a lot to learn. Doesn't anyone over 40?
We do not have any pets
We spend most of the summer at Arrow Lake Provincial Park. It has 30 paid spots and 10 free spots which you can hop from one to another every 23 days if there is one available. This year has been great but some years it is very full and hard to find a spot. We are planning a trip to California this winter and hope to boondock along the way.
Thunder Bay, Ontario
We recently purchased a 2013 Kodiak, 24 ft. long with a huge slideout. Love it to bits. Pull it with a 2011 Ford F150 ecoboost. This truck absolutely loves pulling the rig up hills.
It was a real pleasure to meet Billl & PJ. I just wish we had more time to spend with them. Safe Travels
It's always nice to jam with fellow musicians, fellow Canadians and fellow rv travellers. It was a pleasure to host them and I am sure our paths will cross again as we drive west through Thunder Bay.
What a pleasant couple; the kind you just enjoy being around. We tried to get them to stay longer. We’re going to try to get to their place in Canada sometime as they are a BW host too. So if they ping you with a stay request, you’ll be glad you accepted.
Those were Posthole Pond's words to me as they left to continue their journey. And it so true--in the short time I hosted them, I felt like I had made good friends. Bill and PJ are a lovely and interesting couple, both with such warm hearts. They have not been shy about living and they have so many fascinating stories and experiences. They definitely know how to live the good life! Bill & PJ were very respectful guests with a giving spirit. I expressed my trepidation about leaving on my first road trip in my new (old) Pleasure-Way and no sooner said than I got lessons on how to operate the "house" that put my mind at ease. But it gets even better: We discovered that my furnace was not working properly. This is Bill's area of expertise and I almost couldn't believe his kindness! He took the furnace apart and fixed it! I have had the best experiences hosting Boondockers (Thank you Boondockers Welcome) and my time hosting Posthole Pond is certainly no exception. I work in a field where I see the worst of humanity (criminal law); hosting folks like Bill & PJ restore my faith in the goodness of people. I hope our paths cross again.
We stayed with Posthole Pond for four nights and had a wonderful time! They showed us around Thunder Bay, helped us with phone and computer issues and entertained us with music and great conversation. I highly recommend staying with them if you are able, they are a very fun couple!
What interesting people our hosts were, and what a beautiful home they have! A great new addition to Boondockers Welcome! We have a wonderful time with them, learning about their very diverse backgrounds and interests, and sharing travel stories. Great hosts!
