We are in our mid seventies. He is a retired heating and air conditioning contractor. She is retired sign shop owner and previously, secretary. We enjoy camping and travelling. We live in the country, close to a city of about 110,000. He is in the process of restoring a Model A car and is a tinkerer of everything. She enjoys watercolour painting. He is a private pilot . We have family in Texas (Houston and Dallas) and spend Christmas with them and sometimes spend the winter there but most winters we spend in Florida.
We have an apartment in the basement of our house and most times it is rented and someone is here in case there is a problem.
He can fix almost anything. So can she. Today she was bucking rivets on the airplane door. She is the computer guru but still has a lot to learn. Doesn't anyone over 40?
We do not have any pets and we ask that if you have pets that they be leashed
We boondocked our way from Thunder Bay, Ontario to Lodi, California, via a stop in Houston to visit family - 2 winters ago. Had amazing hosts and really enjoyed the trip. We also used Marianne's e books to find out of the way spots for "shunpiking". The accuracy of her directions is perfect.
Thunder Bay, Ontario
We recently purchased a 2013 Kodiak, 24 ft. long with a huge slideout. Love it to bits. Pull it with a 2011 Ford F150 ecoboost. This truck absolutely loves pulling the rig up hills.
Very nice couple. Well traveled and a wealth of info. Hope to host them again.
We really enjoyed these guests. Especially sitting around the campfire listening to their duets on the guitar and harmonica, and his singing all our old favorites. We look forward to having them back any time they are passing through this area.
Really enjoying there company......just really super people
come back anytime....
It was a pleasure to host these folks. Their conversations were so interesting. They have accomplished much in their lives. A delightful experience! They are welcome to stay with us anytime.
Had a great evening visiting with Bill and PJ. They are Welcome to return. But they must stay longer.
It was a real pleasure to meet Billl & PJ. I just wish we had more time to spend with them.
It's always nice to jam with fellow musicians, fellow Canadians and fellow rv travellers. It was a pleasure to host them and I am sure our paths will cross again as we drive west through Thunder Bay.
What a pleasant couple; the kind you just enjoy being around. We tried to get them to stay longer. We’re going to try to get to their place in Canada sometime as they are a BW host too. So if they ping you with a stay request, you’ll be glad you accepted.
Those were Posthole Pond's words to me as they left to continue their journey. And it so true--in the short time I hosted them, I felt like I had made good friends. Bill and PJ are a lovely and interesting couple, both with such warm hearts. They have not been shy about living and they have so many fascinating stories and experiences. They definitely know how to live the good life!
Bill & PJ were very respectful guests with a giving spirit. I expressed my trepidation about leaving on my first road trip in my new (old) Pleasure-Way and no sooner said than I got lessons on how to operate the "house" that put my mind at ease. But it gets even better: We discovered that my furnace was not working properly. This is Bill's area of expertise and I almost couldn't believe his kindness! He took the furnace apart and fixed it!
I have had the best experiences hosting Boondockers (Thank you Boondockers Welcome) and my time hosting Posthole Pond is certainly no exception. I work in a field where I see the worst of humanity (criminal law); hosting folks like Bill & PJ restore my faith in the goodness of people.
I hope our paths cross again.
The amazing Boondockers Welcome community came through again! Posthole Ponderosa are most welcoming and friendly hosts. They had previous plans and we only met for a couple of hours before they headed out on their camping adventures. Great and interesting people. Once on site, I found that one of my rear duallies had gone almost flat. The host let us use their tools and facilities to attempt a repair (at least enough to get to the tire shop). We got into the shop first thing the next morning and the leaky valve stem was replaced without drama. Thank you very much!
We changed our stay from one to two nights, so we could rest one day on our trip from the Vancouver area to southern Ontario. It was well worth it. In addition to a couple good nights of sleep, we got to see some beautiful sights around Thunder Bay. Since you put the sign up by the road, advertising free crab apples, we got to meet some of the lovely people from your area. We had some nice chats and learned about the farmer who sells watermelons that are orange inside. We made it to his farm and got one of his last watermelons of the season.
Thank-you for a wonderful rest stop!
As we work towards driving from Ontario to BC, this is our first ever Boondockers Welcome stop. Although the hosts were not home, their communication and preparation made settling in a breeze! Electricity, water, WiFi, and a safe place to stop for the night made this first experience just what we hoped it would be! Very quiet road, and no surprises. Thanks so much!
We had a perfect two nights under the stars. Our hosts treated us like we were old friends, and by the end of our two days at Posthole Ponderosa, we had made two new friends. Thanks so much for your hospitality. We look forward to our next visit to the Ponderosa.
Good services, great time, beautiful property. Stop by if you get a chance
Nous sommes arrives en fin de journée, belle emplacement. Très tranquille et reposant. Nous avons adoré notre nuit!
Very accommodating hosts. We were totally exhausted, and we called last minute (less than 2 hours notice) and they waited for us to arrive before going away. We were short of water, so they let us hook up with water.
We had a small leak from our unit, which they were okay with.
There were even written directions to a local dump station.
Can't thank them enough.
Spent 2 nights at Posthole Pond. The same as last time the site and hospitality were wonderful. Had a nice visit and got some more valuable RVing tips. Thanks again.
We were headed back south and Posthole Ponderosa selflessly allowed us to stay at their place again, and on short notice
Unfortunately timing didn't work out and we didn't actually meet them in person, again.
Regardless, we are very grateful and wish them all the best.
The property is located close to Thunder Bay, yet it was very peaceful and quiet. We had wifi, water, electricity and great company. The hosts are well-traveled and great to talk to. They made us feel very comfortable and gave us a lot of tips and recommendations. We would stay here again.
Despite not being home, Posthole Ponderosa selflessly alowed us to stay on their property.
We had electricity, internet, and water. They are lovely people and hope to meet them on our way back South.
We very much enjoyed our overnight stay with Posthole Pond. It's a great location, not far off the highway, and is pretty and very quiet.
Sadly, we didn't get to meet our hosts, but they couldn't have made it easier for us,
giving us info to park, leaving out the electrical cord, and providing wifi info. They also kept info on accessing the hwy as well as the dump.
They were in regular contact with us and always super friendly and helpful.
We'd be happy to welcome them to our place in BC!
Keith and Robyn
Enjoyed my short stay. Might be back in August. Lots of nature around Thunder Bay area.
This was our third Boondockers Welcome stay and as with our first two, this one was fantastic! We spent two nights at Posthole Ponderosa and while we didn’t get to meet our hosts they left detailed instructions for us and made us feel very welcome. We spent two quiet evenings tucked safely in a beautiful country setting and enjoyed a day exploring Kakabeka Falls and Eagle Canyon Adventures. Thanks again Posthole Ponderosa!
Longest stay so far on our cross-Canada trip; we didn’t want to leave! Lovely property, hospitality, generosity & lively sense of humour. Not often you meet folks you instantly connect with. Hope to “check-in” again on our way back. Thanks so much, from the “not dead yet” team.
Super stopover for our long journey home. Though we did not meet our hosts, as they were out enjoying their own RV, they left us in the good hands of some other guests who welcomed us. Such a great way to meet Nice People! Many thanks Ponderosa Pole!!
Just the rest we needed to recharge and get back out on the road.
Our hosts were great. Just wish we were not in such a hurry and could have spent more time with them.
Our stay at Posthole Pond was exceptionnel. From our host warm welcome, to very interesting conversation everything was exceptionnel. Our host ensure that we had everything we needed, they showed us around their very nice property and even entertained us a little with some music. Amazing people in a very quiet setting.
We spent a lovely 2 days at Posthole Pond, and had a wonderful time. When we arrived, the hosts were away camping themselves, but encouraged us to set up and settle in. On our second night, PJ came home and invited us in for some wine and conversation. What a welcoming host! Thank you so much for your hospitality!
What a terrific stay. On my way through Thunder Bay I stopped for a day and spent 2 nights at Posthole Pond. After following the short cut (which directions I got from my host before arriving) through some beautiful country, I arrived to a warm welcome and guidance setting up. While helping me get set up with power water and wifi, my hosts provided me with some great tips, that are going to make setting up alot easier in the future. Once setup, they invited me to sit for a visit and we had a wonderful evening share stories about our travel adventures. The rest of stay was just a good. We are looking forward to our next trip through Thunder Bay and a stop at Pothole Pond.
Thank you for being such wonderful hosts. You took us in during a pandemic and we will forever be grateful! Your shortcut map really cut off some time, too!
Look forward to seeing you again, someday!
These two lovely hosts really made our week by providing us with a safe, level, comfortable, and quiet spot to stay and sleep. They are so kind, and hospitable. Thank you for having us!
Our time in Thunder Bay was made 100X better because of this couple! They were so generous and even offered us a packet filled with local attractions. We hope to one day come back and visit!
Thank you for letting us stay at your home, and thank you for the tour of your work shop
Bill and PJ were very gracious hosts who made sure that we got power for our one night stay. Unfortunately the timing wasn't great for us to have a longer visit. I would highly recommend them.
We had a really nice stay. Enjoyed a glass of wine and great conversation. We hope to stay longer next time! Great hosts!
These hosts were amazing. We had a great time visiting with them and visiting Thunder Bay in general. The hosts have a great location - quiet but close to things to see and do.
Thanks so much for your generous hospitality. We hope we'll meet up again!
We had a wonderful stay. Its so quiet and restful at your lovely home. Thank you for sharing the information package and allowing us an extra night to go see some of the museums and attractions we found in the package!
Enjoyed our stay. Explored the area we loved the rural setting. Did not get to meet the hosts.
Peaceful spot very quiet. Had a great stay
Didn't get to meet the hosts.
Went for a drive to Kakabaca falls wonderful scenery along the way.
Great stay great area. We checked out Thunder Bay, farmers market, brewery, diary, cheese making operation. Real nice folks.
Although our hosts were not present during our two day stay, we were very well received!
Everything was there, as described!
It is a quiet place and almost no traffic.
Thank you so much!

For our second experience on this site, we couldn't wish for better. We felt welcomed as soon as we arrived. We had electricity and Wifi and the chance of sleeping on this amazing property. We definitely recommend and would definitely stay here again :).
Bill & PJ - where to begin, - the nicest, generous of spirit,, kindest, fun and funky couple. We believe Bill could fix anything and PJ is a gifted artist. They opened their home and hearts to welcome us and we are so grateful for these lively two people. We were the last of the 3 boondocks to roll in, first time for our hosts to have 3 rigs., It was splendid!! Loved meeting the others and just a perfect way for us to lose our boondocks virginity lol !!
We were absolutely blown away with the generosity and hospitality of Bill and PJ.
Not only did they provide an awesome place to stay, but also provided power, water and wifi too. Their happy hour entertainment you will have to go and experience, the best!
We shared our time there with two other boon docker couples who also have become Canadian nomads!!
As our first boon docking hosts, they have set the bar extremely high. We will share our experience with others and they too will have a great time with Bill and PJ.
We enjoyed our hosts so much we decided to stay an extra day and checked out July 4.
Thank you to our wonderful hosts in Thunder Bay. We had such a great time around happy hour or should I say hours getting to know you both. Listening to you play guitar and harmonica was the icing on the cake ❤️ Thank you for being so welcoming, it was an unforgettable visit.
Such a great boondockers welcome experience. We greatly appreciated your hospitality and smiles. See you again sometime.
Highly recommended place with a cheese factory close by.
Very welcoming people, who are a mine of information. Very nice quiet place, we had pleasant and rewarding conversations.
Thank you for your hospitality.
What a pleasure it was to meet PJ and Bill. So much fun, many laughs, entertaining and great conversation. They really make you feel at home. New friends indeed!
Post Hole was an amazing place to stay.
Our hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Beautiful and quiet location.
PJ and Bill were fantastic hosts. We only stopped for one night but they made us feel like old friends. PJ provided us with a tourist package of Thunder Bay as soon as we arrived. After some sightseeing they welcomed us into their home where we spent the evening chatting about travel and my time in the Navy. We would highly recommend stopping here for a couple of days; not only for the sights but the hospitality of this couple is second to none.
What an incredible couple! So funny, warm, inviting, and a gift of conversation! It felt like family. Thank-you so much for your hospitality!
Absolutely amazing stay!!! We were warmly welcomed from the minute we drove in the yard and we leave feeling like family. We enjoyed our time here so much that we extended our stay. We highly recommend Posthole Pond as a place to stay when travelling through Thunder Bay area.
Our host graciously allowed us to stay even though they weren’t home. We enjoyed a very quiet level spot in their beautiful yard. We appreciated all the information they left in their hosting bucket of things to see and do in the area. Thank you very much hope to meet up with you in Florida.
Our first boondocking was a great opportunity to meet very nice people in a quiet place. We appreciate a lot!
We really enjoyed our stay. A great spot and wonderful hosts. Unfortunately, our family ended up with the flu while we were there so we didn't get to visit as much as we would've like. We highly recommend it!
Wow! What a wonderful couple! This is our second boondocking experience, and they set the bar high! Had a lot of fun exchanging with them and fellow boondockers around a beer for 2 of the 3 nights we were there.
I hope you will visit us when you come to Montreal when we're back from our big trip!
Who said something about this subject? Happy that we had another host. This stay was exactly why we’ve chosen for the boondockers concept. And nice to experience that Bill and PJ have the same ideas. Great to enjoy the wine with you and your friends an learn from eachother. We also appreciated learning the addresses for the cheese and buttermilk. Sorry we spend too much, but enjoyed the Gouda. If there would be an opportunity to travel in France we can’t imagine that we could miss you. Thanks for all.
Our only regret was that we arrived later in the evening and had to leave early in the morning, would like to have visited longer with this engaging couple. We hope to do a more leisurely visit on our return trip.
Not only friendly but very helpful.
We had a great time exchanging stories over a glass of wine.
I hope some day they will visit us in Arizona.
A great 1st stay as Boondockers! Our Host was very welcoming and accommodating right from the start. We enjoyed our evening of good conversation filled with stories and laughs. Thanks for going the extra mile and helping us out with our tire issues. Thanks again for making our 1st Boondocking experience memorable.
We’ve appreciated Bill and P.J.’s hospitality and generosity. As Bill said, we came as guests and left as friends.
Thank you Bill and PG 😘
We arrived as strangers and left as friends. All in less than 24 hours. It's saying everything! Big WOW!
Incredibly kind people !
Beautiful & calm property.
Thank you sooooo much for helping us with our broken van. It means so much to us :-) I can’t thank you enough for being that generous .
If ever in Florida, let us know:-)
We have enjoyed staying at each other’s homes and have played music together. Such a blessing! Their host location is lovely, easy access, quiet ...you are surrounded by nature at its best.
This People offered us a wonderful hospitality and we enjoyed our stay for one night! We had a good conversation with cool Drinks, thank you a lot for all the Information about Thunder Bay!
We spent a lovely evening sharing travel stories with our hosts and their friends! Nice, quiet countryside location not hard to get to. Highly recommend a visit!
Wonderful, interesting and welcoming hosts. We were very appreciative of the time we spent together in the afternoon and evening.Having electricity and WiFi was beyond our expectations. Easy access to town.
Our hostess was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We had a glass of wine with P.J. the discussion was very interesting. We also talked about there and our travels. The location is beautiful and quiet. We had a wonderful time. We highly recommend this place.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Posthole Pond. Our host and hostess were very welcoming, and freindly. They are very nice people We also enjoyed our friendly chats with them. All the amenities were as mentioned in their profile, and more. Their place is quite enjoyable, beautyfull, and quiet. It is without hesitation that we recommend this location to other boondockers.

We stayed with Posthole Pond for four nights and had a wonderful time! They showed us around Thunder Bay, helped us with phone and computer issues and entertained us with music and great conversation. I highly recommend staying with them if you are able, they are a very fun couple!
What interesting people our hosts were, and what a beautiful home they have! A great new addition to Boondockers Welcome! We have a wonderful time with them, learning about their very diverse backgrounds and interests, and sharing travel stories. Great hosts!
