My name is Matt Cowen and along with my wife Elizabeth and two children, Oliver and Annabel (who are 4 and 2 years old respectively), we are started our year long trip with 5 months in Canada and the USA, travelling in a 23ft Four Winds Majestic RV, and are currently in New Zealand for 2 months in a 2001 Mercedes Sprint campervan.
Afterwards we will be house sitting in Australia, before possibly visiting South East Asia, then returning to the UK.
Back home I am a commercial finance manager for a telecommunications company, and Elizabeth is a full time housewife and mummy.
We enjoy meeting new people, travelling (obviously) and simple pleasures together as a family (such as getting out in nature, enjoying meals together and with others, etc).
I am very much a novice when it comes to all things camping, but we are learning as we go.
We love all animals, and currently have 2 cats called Jack and Chloe (we have someone looking after them in the UK while we travel), as well as having owned a gorgeous Pomeranian dog called Annie in the past.
We started in Toronto, went to Niagara Falls, then NYC, Boston, Fredericton, PEI, Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Chicago, Yellowstone, Banff, Jasper, Vancouver, then down the West Coast, visiting all the big national parks like the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, etc. then to Florida, before we drove back up to Toronto and flew home to England in time for Christmas with family.
We mainly want to stay fairly close to nature, but also like to visit some cities (and have boondocked in a few different Walmart car parks already).
Currently we are freedom camping in New Zealand, and have been all over the Northlands, before heading further South.
Hatfield in Hertfordshire, England. It is just north of London. There is a university there, as well as a shopping mall and stately home (Hatfield House). It's close to countryside and some nice places (e.g. Stanborough Lakes and St. Albans).
Our campervan is a Four Winds Majestic 23A, which seems small by American standards (at 23ft). It has a bed above the cab and one at the back, toilet, shower, kitchen, dinette and storage, etc.
Lovely family from England. They are welcome back to our boondocker site anytime.
Beautiful family, we enjoyed chatting and learning about their home and their travels here in the states. Wonderful folks.
tillthecowenscomehome asked to stay on labor day weekend while we were in Northern Wisconsin at our cabin. We never met them face to face. I hope they made themselves comfortable and enjoyed their short time in Rockton. We had good communication as I suggested where to get power and how to access the internet. They did not leave a trace. Safe travels!
Short & enjoyable visit with this young couple. Circumstances didn't give us long to visit. Would have loved to hear of their travels. Perhaps another time.
We so enjoyed this neat family...the kids were full of energy after riding all day. Was fun to watch them romp in our big yard. Would love for them to stop by again for a longer visit. We love their accents....Really didn't get to chat a whole lot as the children kept them busy! They were easy keepers....
We truly enjoyed our time with this English family. Their RV is not very big and they are easy to chat with.
My friend, Paul, and I sure enjoyed the visit from the English couple and their two little ones. Friendly and outgoing, they were easy to visit with and a marvel to react to, as they told us about their travels in their small Class C RV. That's the first touch of England we've had in Boondockers Welcome! How fun!
Sorry we didn't get to spend more time visiting, we all had to get on the road or back to work. Very quiet, polite and happy campers. Have a great tour!
