We moved to the Hill Country from Dallas 23 years ago and have never regretted it for a moment!
I am a mostly-retired midwife, my husband of 42 years is a wannabe-retired-but-still-working-a-lot architect & builder.
We bought our place for the property, which is a rugged microcosm of the Hill Country, with cliffs, lots of trees, and a part-time creek, depending on the aquifer level. The house -- apparently hand-built (by drug-crazed hippies?) in the early '70s -- has grown on us.
We love traveling to beautiful areas, exploring, easy hiking, eating well, good wine and craft beer.
We have Luther, a lovely and well-mannered 29# light red Poodle.
He often travels with us, but not always — depends on the weather and where we’re going to be.
Western U.S., but looking forward to heading North and East, including into Canada, in next few years.
Baja California also has some appeal.
Blanco County, Texas
Totally restored (though not mirror-polished) 1959 Airstream trailer, 26' from hitch to rear bumper, less than 8' wide, less than 10' tall, less than 4000#. Towed by 2015 Ford Expedition.
A charming lady who is welcome back any time. Very considerate guest.
Can’t say enough about this location and our hosts. We enjoyed a friendly dinner with our hosts and their neighbors after arriving. Their location was ideal for peaceful sunsets, enjoying the night sky as well as visiting the area. No doubt we will return!
The host was away during our stay- but gave us wonderful directions and advice how to park and we were able to find the place. Everything is so nicely set up there- little chairs and table water and electricity-very thoughtfully done. I hope we will the host some other time. Thank you 😊
Our stay was absolutely amazing! The hosts were beyond gracious and generous. The property is beautiful with areas to sit and trails to walk. There are not enough stars to rate this host high enough!
Perfectly locate to discover this beautiful part of Texas. Welcoming hosts, the place is well equipped to receive Boondocker!
We visited Krause Springs, Blanco State Park and Hamilton Pool. We will keep beautiful memories of these beautiful places!
Thank you
Wonderful host in a beautiful setting in the hill country. We were treated like family, including wine and hors d’oeuvres on the porch overlooking the creek in the evening. Fresh asparagus picked from the garden for our eggs in the morning.
A big thank you to my hosts for such a lovely time complete with a warm fire, cool evenings , starry skies....and great conversation!
Fallcreek’s place is a beautiful microcosm of Texas Hill Country, and our hosts’ open-hearted, open-handed welcome was surely Texas at its best. Even Luther the dog welcomed and accommodated our Koda. Thank you friends. We couldn’t have asked for more.
Until next time!
Jay & Lynne have a lovely home and acreage and are lovely people along with their fur baby, Luther!! I had a relaxing time by their babbling brook listening to comforting doves and enjoying the sweet smelling blooms around their grounds. Didn’t want to leave and will definitely go back!! Also enjoyed Lynne’s buttercream coffee...yum! Barb
The hosts were great to talk to and charming couple. I liked the grotto effect of the trees under which the rv parked. A comfy big yard that they kindly let my dogs burn off energy in. Sweethearts really. Well located to see the central part of the hill country.
We stayed for two nights recently whilst we visited Jacob’s Well, Pedernales Falls and Hamilton Pool. The parking spot is flat, quiet, dark and secure. We were blown away by the lovely hospitality and generousity from sunset beers on the back deck one night to a property tour and many thoughtful RV travel tips the next. Highly recommend and thankyou Lynne and Jay!
We loved our spot at Jay and Lynns. We loved having them for dinner and getting to know them. They were very gracious with our whole family. The spot is really cozy as well. We also loved the quaint town of Blanco and other neighboring towns as well.
Lynne and Jay's hospitality goes beyond the norm. Lynne willingly shared her RV expertise enabling me to feel much more confident in my journey. My stay with them extended beyond my expectations and I am forever grateful for their kind consideration. I highly recommend them as Hosts.
Wonderful hosts, great, quiet beautiful location. Doesnt get any better than that!
Being here with these folks is beyond my expectations. They have embraced me with open arms and are helping me with RV challenges. My stay here has been extended. I now have an opportunity to return their gracious hospitality. Not sure when I will venture out to other opportunities.
Thank you very much for the great place. The hosts are very kind and we enjoied the stay so much. The Garden is beautyful and it is very quiet around.
We had a great stay. The evening was special. It was a pot luck party that ended watching the stars on the trampoline! We met very nice people and our host is very friendly and we enjoyed their great hospitality. Thank you so much.
A big thank you to Fall Creek in Blanco, for a beautiful spot from which to explore the Hill Country. A great visit left us with the feeling that we have friends in Texas. Thank you for your hospitality and your warm welcome.
A great stay in Blanco, Texas in the Beautiful Hill Country. Lynne and Jay were wonderful and welcoming. Our stay was close to many of the Hill Country spots we wanted to visit. We would love to stay with them again. Thanks so much for your hospitality.
They were wonderful hosts. Made me feel right at home. Excellent camp site. Beautiful part of the Texas Hill country. A really interesting home. Highly recommend.
While in TX Hill Country on yet another ‘wild hair’ trip, we contacted L and J about spending a night with them at their home boondocking site. They responded promptly but apologetically that they were not home because they’d taken a ‘wild hair’ camping trip to Goose Island SP for the annual Oyster Fest. They invited us to join them there, boondocking on their reserved site with them. In keeping with our personal philosophy to accept as many kind invitations as possible, we accepted, and spent two wonderful nights with them and their friends. Upon learning that we are largely oyster ignorant, they put together the most memorable fresh oyster shucking, grilling and gorging experience at our campsite.
We can’t say enough about J and L’s kindness, openness and generosity. We enjoyed great fun, lively conversation and easy friendship and will definitely reconnect with them in this BDW community. This was our first time to use the site, but definitely only the first of many. The bar is set high!
Thank you L, J and L! See you soon.
