Taking a hiatus from the prescibed rat race while we are able, for the next several months, we are a traveling trio (husband, wife, and son) looking to glorify the Lord in exploring His creation, learning new skills and serving others along the way.
Fishing, biking, hiking, and boating are some of our favorite activities! We love a great campfire and cooking outside.
We are long-time registered nurses in the state of North Carolina; husband in the area of Critical Care and wife in Perinatal-including a board certification in lactation. The fellas are experienced in using a host of tools, and are good mechanics.

Totally at a loss for words to describe how wonderful it was having the opportunity to meet this wonderful family. HwyHiatus has been traveling the highways and byways for several months, and it was exciting to swap stories with them. So much in common, and so little time to cover all of the topics we wanted to talk about. Extremely courteous guests, and their two very tiny dogs were adorable. Hopefully we didn’t wear them out from showing them some of the sights around the countryside and from taking some of the side trips that we recommended. We have already made plans to meet up again in March in their neck of the woods. HwyHiatus and any of their family is welcome here anytime. We would be excited to re-host them. Speaking cryptically, they got me out of stitches, and they showed me what it meant to take the bait ‘hook, line and sinker’. For this I will be forever thankful. Don’t forget to check out the book “Blue Highways” by William Least Heat Moon. Cheers, my new found friends, and we bid you safe travels.
Wonderful time with you; enjoyed square dancing. It was fun to also meet your dad, Charles. Come back & stay longer.
We enjoyed their stay with us. They are certainly welcome back. Jack & Judy
It was a pleasure to host this family. A very nice family and they are welcome back in the future.
We absolutely loved having this family stay with us. We didn’t want them to leave! We hope that they get to stop again. We really loved hearing about all the other hosts they have had and enjoyed tales of their big adventure. lucky us to have had the opportunity to host them.
We enjoyed hosting the HwyHiatus family. Sad the weather wasn't warmer so they could enjoy the river but they did get to experience the rails to trails bike path. We enjoyed a visit and hearing about their traveling experiences. We would welcome them again. Butch and Judy
Hosting HwyHiatus was so enjoyable. They went above and beyond as guests and truly became friends. We hope to see them again and highly recommend them as guests.
They are living the adventure! Great family to host, so very active and fun to talk to about any subject! Hope they come back!
We were able to host HwyHiatus for several days and it was a real pleasure. Wonderful to meet all the family and hear about their travels. They even helped to unload and stack firewood! Great family and hope to meet up with them again.
Super enjoyable family, enjoying the grand nature this earth has to offer, had a great time visiting with HwyHiatus, they are very friendly and knowledgeable, it was cold and rainy here, which was rare for our area at that time, but we made good use of the 3 nights, we feel like we made some great friends and hope to see them again soon. They are welcome anytime, even Winter.
We made life-long friends with this family. They stayed with us for 4 nights. We wanted them to stay longer! We highly recommend them. They have a very handsome son who was very respectful and a good conversationalist. Loved their little fur babies. It seemed we had known them forever.
HwyHiatus boondocked on my property for three nights. Very considerate, friendly couple with a very well mannered teenage son. Enjoyed having them here, would love to have them again.
