We are an adventure-loving family of six and we enjoy traveling and exploring. We love wide open spaces and are enjoying living in our early 1900's farmhouse with chickens, goats, cats and dogs...oh my!
Rylie is a high school English teacher at a technology school and Heather homeschools the four kiddos with the help of a charter school for enrichment.
Rylie is great with computers and technology. Heather is great with planning and organization.
We have three dogs who stay at home when we travel. We also have goats, chickens and cats. You may be rousted in the morning by our goats who call for their breakfast if we take too long.
Near National Parks or anywhere with wild untamed beauty. We love waking up to wide open spaces.

We have recently restored a vintage 1967 Travel Queen cabover camper that sits on a double cab Chevy Silverado truck.
Very nice family. Nice conversation. Cool restored camper. Enjoyed hosting them. Welcome back anytime. Have a good Easter break.
Nice quiet respectful family. I know they just join boondocker welcome. I Would welcome them back any time
I got to hold and play with little tiny baby goats. This has now become my favorite place in all my travels!
This was a great stay, quiet farm, friendly family! We appreciated the mandarins and grapefruit shared with us too! I just wish we could have been able to connect more during our stay.
It’s often challenging to find a quiet spot for an overnight stay. WalMart parking lots — a diminishing option—and rest areas in states where it’s allowed, are practical but noisy places. The Hilscher Farm offers a quiet spot, close and far enough from urban services. Our host was very welcoming and accommodating. This was our first guest experience with Boondockers Welcome, and it was excellent! Thank you!!!
PS: highly recommend Ortega Taqueria in Reedley for great tacos! :)
Worked perfectly for us on our trip south from WA.
Nice chat with H, but it was a school night and we only talked for a bit.
I'm sure we'll see them again.
Looking forward to it.
Thank you guys so much! Close enough to Fresno/Visalia/Tulare, but far enough out that you are away from it all! Awesome family!
I adore this family. They are always so nice and beyond friendly. And I love their farm. Baby animals everywhere!
Was greeted by 3 nice little dogs. Very friendly hosts. Thank you!
This is a great location to explore the area. We spent full days checking out the Fresno area as well as Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. They offered us 20amp power too. Their family of dogs were very friendly and protective of us which led to some barking but overall a quiet place to stay. Thanks again for the great hospitality.
We stayed here for two nights while visiting the national parks. The Hilschers let us have some of their delicious peaches and gave us a couple good tips about local Mexican food. We beat the 99 degree heat at the local libraries, as we were visiting in August. We would stay here again!
I liked your farm. The fire ring would be nice in cooler weather. Your dogs were friendly and kept the critters away. I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you personally. Thanks for the stay!
We enjoyed our stay very much. Our host was very kind and informative. The location is great as well, only an hour or so to different national parks. Thank you for letting us boondock.
Kasia and Steve
Hands-down the best Boondocker place to stay. The family is wonderful, the scenery is amazing, and if you love animals it’s a total bonus.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! There was a great private place to park Clark (our trailer), our kids loved playing with the dogs and checking on the chickens and goats. The highlight for us and our kiddos was being offered to swim in the pool after a hot day and puck some lemons and oranges off of their citrus trees!! Thank you for being so welcoming!
These folks are my favorite. I wish I had time to spend with them today, but my insomnia kept me up so late that I slept past their dinner outing. But there will be a next time! And I can already tell you- it will be fantastic!
We arrived late due to mechanical problems and had to leave early. Reilly greeted us and introduced us to the dogs. The parking place was level and easy to get to. Reilly offered us 15 amp electric but the connection out by the parking place was low voltage so we went with our batteries and the generator for breakfast. We had asked about the generator and were told it was okay.
We were sorry we didn't have time to get to know the family. We would recommend this pleasant stop to anyone needing a place headed for the Bay Area from SoCal.
Booked in for 2 nights but only stayed 1 after a day trip into Kings Canyon turned into an 2 day adventure. Sorry for any inconvenience. Easy driveway to back into. Thanks for the opportunity to stay.
H and R are both very accommodating and kind. They helped us in and gave us tips about our upcoming travels in generous fashion. The farm was peaceful - a really nice place to both rest and visit the national parks in the area. Thanks so much to the hosts!
The Hilscher family was the perfect place for our first time boondocking. They were amazing hosts, letting our kids all play together and swim in their pool. My kids enjoyed seeing the animals, and the location was perfect and easy to access with our 38’ rig. Highly recommended and many thanks!
The Hilsher's are SUCH nice people! So accommodating and friendly. It was a beautiful place to stay, but really the best part was their family. Truly. They gave me a tour and let me walk around and play with their farm animals. They have 2 very friendly goats, a whole bunch of chickens, a few #UglyKittes and 3 #UglyDogs and all of the animals are super friendly. And they had 2 little baby chick that were so #Adorable. They offer 120V out of one of their barns and before I left offered me some of the strawberries that they just picked up at the local fruit stand.
It was quiet and peaceful. I slept great and they let me fill a few of my water jugs from their well water spigot.
If only everyone was this nice. I would definitely stay at their farm again!
We can't say enough great things about Hilscher Farm. Very quiet, private area too park. They are surrounded by nut, grape and citrus fields. Riley, the host, was great to visit with and offered tons of local knowledge. We are very thankful for the opportunity to boondock overnight as we make our way to Sequoia National Park.
We had an awesome time at the farm! Rylie was so accommodating and gave us tons of recommendations for what to see in Yosemite National Park. He also had suggestions for restaurants in the nearby town.
This was our first Boondockers Welcome experience and it was so great. The electric hook up was the icing on the cake, and there is also water available, if needed! We would highly recommend the Hilscher Farm, their three dogs will be very excited to greet you!
We scheduled four days but something came up and we arrived a day late and then left early due to the heat. Still, our hosts were very gracious and eager to help us any way the could, not to mention flexible. One word of caution, GPS's will want to take you down tiny, bumpy farm roads because it's a shorter route. Stick to the major highways. You'll be glad you did.
Such a nice place to boondock with friendly dogs and chickens and goats. Weactually stayed 2 nights and are so grateful to our hosts for their hospitality.
You will stay amidst the groves and orchards of central California within jumping off distance to Fresno and several renowned parks. I highly recommend this courteous host family.
Easy to find and good Access for camper. welcoming Hosts, quiet area. Much Appreciated as we passed through.
100% awesome people. We had such a good time hanging out with all of them, they were incredibly fun and hospitable. We are looking forward to keeping in touch with this sweet family
