My best friend, lover and partner in crime returned to Canada with our RV after spending seven months in Mexico this past winter. I have driven 17 times to southern Mexico in various RVs and autos. We Live in our Winnebago View when we are not in Mexico because we are homeless. I sold my house in Grand Bend Ont five years ago and Yvonne sold hers in Surrey BC last year. Be careful, we might be pulling into your driveway sometime soon;)
Yvonne is the most amazing cook. I am very fortunate. I am still learning and might graduate from my prep boy status in the coming year(keeping my fingers crossed:). I am mechanically inclined. If I can't fix it, my good friend Paco in Mexico will. Have known him for more than 20 years. He has a great, clean automotive shop. His labour rate is less than a fifth of what you would pay back in the USA or Canada. This is where I try to have all maintenance done for our RV and other vehicles. This past winter our Norcold fridge puked. The ammonia system had rusted out and could not be repaired. Had a complete assembly for the rear of the fridge shipped from Maine USA to us. Six weeks it took. I think it arrived on the back of a burro. Anyways. Paco and I successfully switched out the heart of the fridge and now have cold beer! Not bad for first timers! And yes, I am pretty current on border crossing issues and roads. The road network in Mexico has actually been improving these past ten years(my theory is that less money has been stolen;). Unless I am travelling off the beaten path, I use the toll roads as much as I can. Safer for you and less wear and tear for your rig. Rarely a pothole, banditos or farm animals on the road to upset your trip! This past winter(2016-2017) crossing at Laredo Texas and driving to Oaxaca city, Oaxaca(about 1500 kilometers) cost about $200.00 Canadian. If you have an auto or RV with only four wheels it will cost $100CDN. Then you have only 250 kilometers over two mountain ranges to get to us. An amazing road where you will hardly ever leave 2nd gear and it will take six hours:( Hope this does not scare you off and that you can visit and explore our little paradise!
