Hi, we are the Walker Family. We consist of me, Sara, my husband of almost 21 years David and our son David Lee or Little Dave we like to call his and our two mutts Lia and Lily. We are full timers on a journey selling our custom signs and small furniture as well as some other odds and ends at flea markets and events all over the country.
Back home is our daughter and son-in-law and our grandbaby who is almost two. Davids parents and his sister and her family and tons and tons of cousins and friends. My mothers family is from there as well and I will just leave that as that.
My dad's family is from western Iowa. And we are all so excited to be able to see them all so much more. Iowa is a long way from Maryland. Skype is our lifeline.
We like to travel about three hours at time. It seems to be the most economical for us and how else could we see the whole country and meet everyone.
We finally decided to go on the road about four months ago. It's something we always talked about doing when we got older but after watching David's parents get sick and me loosing both of parents unexpectedly at different times already, we chose not to wait until we were too old or sick or out of money to go. We chose to live a life we want now. We chose to leave what everyone calls normal, working ourselves to death and getting no where and start a life of freedom and go anywhere. We have to work everyday anyway, we replaced all our big tools with smaller portable ones. We are Thousand Trails members but we also like to boondock so we can build and create. Saws and nail guns are not very peaceful sounds for campers nor would we like to advertise what equipment we have to tons of strangers. This is by no means any requirement for us. We just sometimes are looking for somewhere out of the way where no one minds a few hours of our noise.
P.S. I will add our photos as soon as I get some decent internet.
David can do just about anything. We had a construction business for almost 17 years and he has built every piece of furniture we've had just about. David is also skilled at working on vehicles and other engines, mowers tractors or whatever. He's one of those guys can that do everything, it's almost sickening LOL!!
Our son can run mowers and tractors. He helps his dad out a lot and is pretty helpful.
I've spent my life raisin' babies and keeping our home and gardens and animals. So there's a lot I'm skilled at too.
We are from small towns in Wicomico County on Marylands' Eastern Shore. Ocean City, Md and Assateague National Seashore are about 40 minutes East of us and The Chesapeake Bay is about 75 minutes West. Most of the area is rural and agricultural or water towns. We all grew up with summer jobs on farms or on the water, even the girls.
We are hauling our 26ft Fleetwood Wilderness. She's a 98 but has been fully remodeled and repainted by David. We are lugging her around with our 2009 Ford Expedition. We are fully self sustainable and FULLY INSURED :}. I love our land so there is no leaks or smells. We are a clean tight running ship.
