We're an 'almost retired' couple that love everything RV... and can't wait till we can go (almost) full-time. Till then, we've got a small ranch just west of Wimberley and are happy to welcome fellow RVers to stay a night or two while traveling. Take your boots off and boondock by the gazebo and fruit trees or you can just stay on the drive by the house; we have plenty of room. If you need, we can hook you up with 15 amp and water, but no septic is available.
I now just do ranching stuff but used to make rustic furniture (still do to a degree) and in a former life I was a staffing & recruiting pro; wifey still is a Finance geek/CPA for a software company, but those days are counting down. We have a few Longhorns and chickens so we're rarely out of beef and eggs.
Corina, our 13 year old black lab that loves new canine friends but will lick you to death and try to inch her way into your lap. She does not travel with us though.
In the middle of nowhere, preferably by a river or lake. "Off the beaten path."
Wimberley, TX now but originally Dallas; Andrea is originally from Northern Michigan.
We have a 1998 Lazy Daze 30 ft. motor home that we call 'Dazey'. We've reconditioned her and she's 'perfect'!
We hosted these wonderful Boondockers Welcome guests at Candy Cane Corral and it felt just like having family come home. We really enjoy them and it was fun to hear about all their adventures since their last visit. We know they are just as great hosts and they are guests! We look forward to visiting them in the future. We wish Godspeed and safe travels. Perry, Ginny & Georgia
I very much enjoyed the visit with RusticRobert. Very polite and considerate with a personality as big as Texas. They are welcome back at the Barnyard anytime and we hope to get to stop by their place in Texas sometime in the future.
Rustic Robert and Ms Rustic Robert were very polite, friendly, and were a joy to host. I hope to one day visit them at their place in Texas. Folks like Rustic Robert is what makes BW so enjoyable. It was a great pleasure to host these fine members.
This was a return visit, which makes them now part of our family. We will definitely be looking forward to them coming back this way next year!
We had an exciting and enjoyable visit by these very generous and friendly Texans. The weather was amazing, food was great, conversation was humorous and we enjoyed their company immensely. They showed their culinary skills by serving organic Long Horn Beef prime Rib steaks cooked over an open coal fire for dinner one night as a treat which was delicious.
We have nothing but good things to say about RusticRobert and his wife to any future hosts on BW.
It was a pleasure to have this couple visit, and only wish they could have stayed longer. We found a lot in common, and enjoyed sharing some local sites, and local beverages together. We left plenty of other things to do for when they return some day!
We thoroughly enjoyed these Boondockers Welcome guests. They are truly the personification of the Texas spirit of friendliness and we felt like we had known them for ages! We look forward to their return visit and will pick up our conversation with them just where we left off this morning. We wish them Godspeed and safe travel on their journey.
Robert was great in communicating when they would be home and made arrangements for us to arrive even if they weren’t home yet. As it turned out, both he and Andrea greeted us at the gate. They provided us with loads of info about the area, places to visit and where to eat. They have a lovely spot and were very gracious. Yet another boondocking spot we will be sure to visit if in the area again.
Hubby and I had a very welcoming and comfortable stay with RusticRobert as we visited the area for the first time. They even told us about the nearby Christmas celebration in Whimberly. So much fun shopping and listening to live music! If you get a chance to stay here I would highly recommend it. Hope to cross paths again in the future. Thanks for everything!
RusticRoberts is an amazing place - beautiful and spacious property with lots of options for parking your RV, a sweet dog, and best of all, wonderful people. They also have a couple of friendly cows that you can scratch and deer that live on the property. The hosts suggested things to do in the area and recommended the best BBQ in Texas right in the neighboring town! They went above and beyond helping us out - I highly recommend these folks and their wonderful spot in beautiful Texas hill country.
We had been members of Boondockers for a few months, but had never used the service. It was an amazingly positive experience. We had errands in Austin and we stayed at his ranch for 2 nights. It's about 1.5 into Austin from this location. We want to go back and check out Wimberly and Dripping Springs. There's so much to experience in this area. He was so friendly and made sure all of our needs were meant. We were blessed by this visit with this wonderful family. We enjoyed the surroundings and especially meeting the Longhorns. One tip is to arrive before dark for ease of setup. We made it, but next time we'll allow more time. It would be challenging to drive the narrow winding roadways in the hill country at night in the dark. Thank you RusticRobert & family. We enjoyed our visit.
Our host went above and beyond in welcoming us to his property. His property is in a great location with plenty of space, security, and privacy. The kids really enjoyed the wide open space and the animals. He was readily available but never intrusive. We enjoyed the small town feel of Wimberley but being so close to Austin as well. We would highly recommend this location to anyone traveling to this area.
There aren't enough superlatives to describe these folks or the location. They stepped up to help us out of a holiday jam, patiently giuded us in (heed the suggestion of a daylight arrival!), and went out of their way to make our stay so pleasant. The property is beautiful.
We hope to spend time with them again.
Our stay was all too short, and we hope to stay with these folks longer next time we are in the area. VERY welcoming and beautiful property!
Great folks, friendly, very quiet in rural setting near Wimberley and Driftwood.
We arrived in the afternoon and Robert was at the driveway to show us where to park, beautiful location. Wild deer running around the yard. We sat on the back porch and talked with our host for a long time. They are great people and a real pleasure to meet and share time with. Made us feel like family with all of their hospitality. Would recommend them as an exceptional host.
Rustic Robert is so very welcoming, and even moved his own RV to assure we had a place to park even though the recent rains had made much of his property quite soggy.
Our dogs were allowed to run free and get out some energy while we visited for a bit, which was wonderful.
We are in TX for awhile and already plan to stay again when we go spend some time exploring the San Antonio area!
We loved staying with Robert. He was very accommodating and we'd definitely stay with him and his wife again. They had plenty of space for our 30 ft rig. Thanks Robert.
Great host! Thank you for having us. Sorry for the long delay in leaving you feedback. I messed that one up!!. Great people, nice cows, we enjoyed it for sure!
We had a good time in the area. It was a beautiful area of Texas. Our hosts were very kind
We had an absolute blast with Robert and his family. They really made us feel like a part of the family— so much so that we stayed 2 extra days! Their little town of Wimberly is adorable (don’t skip it!) The property is safe and has no shortage of beauty. We had everything we needed and more for a wonderful stay near Austin. Hopefully, we’ll be back!
We enjoyed our time here. Lovely hosts and great location. Would highly recommend
Our family really enjoyed our stay with Robert and his family. The kids loved the space to play, seeing the cows and chickens, and making friends with their sweet lab. We didn't really know anything about Wimberly so their "Welcome Pack" of brochures gave us lots of great idea, and Robert recommended an AMAZING BBQ food truck in town. We couldn't have stayed with nicer people, or had a better peaceful spot in the area. Thank you!!
Andrea and Robert are great hosts. We enjoyed an evening with them on their patio with the chickens and deer.
Quiet, even with Ranch 12 on the edge of these 10 ac. At dark, all you hear are doves cooing and robins chirping. You have got to meet their two adorable and beautiful Longhorns. They like a scratch under the chin or behind the ear. Just remember TX Yard Dogs grow big out here. LoL. It’s a stop to remember.
Robert and Andrea were tremendous hosts during my working vacation in Austin and San Antonio. They went overboard to make me feel welcome and we had many things in common. My 27 ft trailer was located comfortably on their property and I thourougly enjoyed my stay with RusticRobert. Be sure to stick to his guide line rules in his Boon-dockers welcome profile.
Easy in easy out, very hospitable couple. The Town of Wimberley, Texas is a wonderful little town lots of shopping and dining. Easy trip into San Antonio and Austin. Robert and his wife were great and to property was easy to navigate and set up. Thank you again, Robert and Andrea.
Another very pleasant stay in central Texas, lots to explore in the area, or just relax by a fire and enjoy the serenity.
Thanks again, be back soon...
Loved our stay with Rustic Robert and family. Great country setting complete with chickens and longhorns. Another boondocker couple stayed at the same time as us and there was plenty of room. We enjoyed good conversation with all while sitting around the fire. So nice to start as strangers and leave as good friends.
We stayed, along with another couple and shared a fire with them one night. Robert and Andrea, our Hosts, made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Easy in easy out close to Historic Wimberley, a great town. All in all an great experience.
Thank you Robert and Andrea.
We thouroughly enjoyed staying at Rustic Roberts place! It is a beautiful spot in the hill country and Robert and Andrea are as friendly as they get! We enjoyed going up on "Old Baldy" to see the view and also the fresh eggs! Oh, and thanks Robert for the directions on our way out! Hope we meet again.
This family was really welcoming. Thanks for everything, we had a very good night. This is a really good area.
We totally recommend this family!!!!!
We had an amazing experience boondocking in their yard. The whole family is so friendly and inviting. When they say “make yourself at home” they mean it. Our boys explored the whole area, which is all fenced and safe, we had a fire, it was to cold to swim even though the kids wanted to. Robert knew the best spot for us to park and just how to position to create a great little spot. He is quick to respond which was great as we never had to be idle waiting not knowing what we were supposed to do. It was our first experience and will be nearly impossible to beat
We can’t wait to go back!!
Robert and Andrea simply could not have been more delightful hosts! Robert greeted us at the gate, gave us a choice of locations, and even helped us hook up the electricity.
We had them over for a most delightful evening where we shared stories and laughter. We learned that we have just joined an exclusive club...folks who spend a lot for a motor coach and then look hard for a free place to stay! Funny and so true!
On our last morning there, we were treated to a tour of their gorgeous and authentic Texas ranch house, beautiful pool, and skillfully renovated RV.
Robert and Andrea are truly the best of Boondockers Welcome. We highly recommend that you pay them a visit at their ranch in Wimberley, TX.
We stayed with Robert and Andrea for 4 nights and they couldn't have been more accommodating. We needed our bus fixed and they offered us their RV to stay in for the night which was just lovely of them. We watched the deer come out at sunset to eat snacks Andrea had left out and their daughter who does archery showed us how to do it one afternoon much to my younger daughters delight. A lovely quiet spot not far from the quant town of Wimberley, which has plenty to see and do.
What an outgoing, friendly host. He is my kind of person, he makes stuff with his hands. So enjoyed a tour of his shop. He extended an invitation for a third night and we were overjoyed to spend it there. Wimberley area is a wonderful place to visit but his ranch is away from any noise. Hope you can sometime visit us in Canada on your way back from Michigan. Thanks again
What a friendly guy Robert is! We scheduled ourselves to stay for 1 night, but after Robert mentioned all the different things there were to check out in town, and also shared a packet full of brochures about the different attractions around, we decided to stay another day and night, which he was totally cool with. Told us to come and go as we please, so he passed along the code for the gate to get in and out of the driveway. We met his wife the morning we walked up to the house to say goodbye and chatted it up for a while before we left.
Lovely people, lovely dog, lovely land to park on and explore... we really enjoyed our stay here. Thank you!
Our stay with Robert & Andrea was beyond expectations. While staying with them we were treated to up close deer viewings, a warm and friendly dog, oh and warm friendly hosts too!!!
Our hosts provided us with a complete information package of the area, complete with maps and brochures. A couple of days in this area is not enough to enjoy all it has to offer.
Again thanks for the lovely site, water and electrical.
See y'all again real soon, Bob & Monique
This was our second stay here and proud to say we have some new friends in Wimberley! "Rustic Robert" and his wife Andrea are our kind of folks! Friendly, fun, sociable, and just as nice as they come. Made us feel right at home. On a 1 to 10 scale as host we give 'em an 11 and 11+ as fine people! Kim & Joe
We stayed with RusticRobert twice, actually. He has a great spread of land with lots of options to park, and we were able to get pretty level without too much of a problem. He met us at his gate after dark and helped us get set up by providing lighting. We were able to plug into electric, which was awesome! He gave us a welcome email with wonderful pictures and directions so we knew what to expect, as well as some great RVer reference links and groups to look at! When we arrived, he also gave us a welcome packet with brochures and information to check out around in town! They are super into archery and have targets set up around the property, and he let us use some of his equipment to even shoot a few arrows!
My husband is a touring musician, and Robert went above and beyond hosting to call around and get him a paid gig in town while we were there and tried to get him on the local radio station too! The second time we stayed with him, it had been a while since we had had access to water, and he let me take a shower with the kids in his house. His daughter even occupied the toddler by letting him paint her arm! She's so great with kids.
The kids also had a great time saying hi to the cows and jumping on the trampoline. It was too cold to swim, but the pool looked amazing.
I definitely recommend Robert if you are wanting to check out the beautiful Texas Hill Country and go Winery hopping!
We had the pleasure of staying with RusticRobert for 5nights through the Thanksgiving holiday. He and his wife were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. They greeted us on our arrival warmly and made sure we had everything we needed. They had multiple spots we could choose from to park the rig. They had a packet of local interest information to help orient us to the area. Their dog and our 2 dogs got along great. Their property is very picturesque and the local area has much to explore. I am truly grateful that our first use of Bondockers Welcome was so enjoyable.
Awesome Boondockers Welcome Spot! we really enjoyed staying with Robert & Andrea thy could not have been more hospitable we felt very welcome and safe at there place we enjoyed visiting with them too and only wish we could have stayed longer but Kristy had to work and mobile WiFi is week for Verizon.
My hubby & I were brand new to BoondockersWelcome and found ourselves in a bind. We reached out to RusticRobert late one evening and by the next morning we were on his land. Despite being under-the-weather, Robert was extremely accommodating, opening his gate for us, and giving us everything we needed. He and wife Andrea are very friendly and shared a wealth of information about the local area. We stayed 2 nights and would highly recommend them for anyone in the Wimberley/Texas Hill Country area needing a place for a couple of nights. We look forward to seeing them again in the future and we are happy to have some new friends!
We had a great time and a warm hospitality with Robert and his family. We really enjoyed to meet them and to visit the country and take the good recommendations of them!big thanks!
RusticRobert are amazing hosts! They are so warm and welcoming. They are as available as you need and as present as desired. Robert responded quickly to our inquiry.
We were traveling from San Antonio to Austin and we weren’t planning on stopping on the way, but we are so glad we did!
Robert set us up with our pick of boondocking sites on their beautiful ranch, and ran electrical out to us.
They provided great local recommendations, including a travel guide for Wimberley. We are so glad to have met these wonderful people!
We could not found better boondockers host !
RusticRobert and his family are wonderful, welcoming, and very friendly people. We are so happy to meet them.
RusticRobert take care of you, he does everything to make you feel good. He enjoys Texas and has a lot of informations to discover Wimberley and the others best places in the area.
He likes meeting people and he is ready to do anything to make your stay unforgettable, and it is guarantee !
The place is pretty, quiet, starry sky, water and electricity if you want, everything is possible here.
If you come to RusticRobert's home, you do not regret it! Now, we love Texas !!
We hit the jackpot at RusticRoberts. This place will be hard to beat. Wonderful hosts and property. Very scenic both with wildlife and landscape. We had enjoyable visis and tour of grounds. We hope they will make it to Montana.
