Located four miles from Brainerd behind the local airport, we have a parking space across from our home on the Mississippi River. The photo of the parking spot shows our 37' Mountain Aire parked there, so there is room for a 40' rig or so. Because we are on a dead end road, longer rigs might have trouble turning around as there is no good space for turning around. You will probably need to unhook your vehicle in order to turn around. Once unhooked, turning around using our driveway and a driveway across the road, is not difficult.
Drinking okay. Intoxication is not. Smoking outside in the parking area is fine. Noise, radios, etc needs to be eliminated after 10 PM. We enjoy meeting new people around the fire ring. The workshop and tools are available - anything broken to be replaced. Otherwise, make yourself at home!
Two lane blacktop road in good condition, but about a mile of it is through a hilly area with sharp curves. Once you get to the forest area, just go slow and stay to the right side of the road. I am able to navigate it driving a 38' motorhome with a 13' trailer.
But it is slow going and once you get to our home, turning around can be a challenge. We have to use our driveway in combination with a the lot across the street from our home to turn our rig around. Generally, we need to have the tow vehicle or trailer NOT attached in order to make the turn around. If not attached, turning around is routine.
No problem parking a tow vehicle once it is un-hooked. Lots of parking space, but not enough for easy turn around with a tow vehicle attached.
We are home most of the summer from mid May through October. We may be gone some weekends to a family lake cabin but are usually home during the week. We can usually work out suitable arrangements even for a weekend when we might be gone. Just ask and we will try to accommodate any request.
The Brainerd Lakes area is the second most visited tourist area in Minnesota after Duluth and the North Shore, so there are many things to do. Some examples: Paul Bunyan Recreational trail. Many lakes and resorts. Brainerd International Raceway for road and drag racing. Paul Bunyan amusement park. North Country Zoo. Large number of top quality golf courses in the area.
