Have you stayed at this host location?
Leave a reference for this hostWe have space for a diesel pusher and smaller, 2.5 acres fenced, dirt road access approx ~1.5 miles from pavement. Approx 20 miles north from Yucca Valley at 3217' of elevation. Please no electric heaters or electric water heaters.
Quiet hours due to neighbors, 10pm to 7am. No smoking. No loud music.
good graded dirt road, sometimes has washboard
2.5 acres of fenced yard to park near our garage
We are home most of the time. Just let us know when you are coming and we'll see if the space is empty. Daytime arrivals are best for us. But we do go camping ourselves sometimes...
Lots of Jeep trails, local history, Giant Rock, Integratron, Gubler Orchids, Joshua Tree National Park, Big Bear Lake 45 minutes away up in the mountains at 7000' elevation.
I think this spot may spoil boondocking for us as I’m not sure we’ll get it this good again! DesertStephen accepted our request at very short notice for the next day and was very flexible with arrival time. The property was just a short drive down a dirt road off the highway and there is a large hardpacked area with several level spots to park. We parked in one with full hookups including sewer meaning this is better than most campgrounds we’ve been to! It’s well water but we found it fine with our spigot filter and Brita. There’s great views of a valley and mountains on all sides and beautiful sunsets every night. There’s lots of off roading in the area and historical sites, DesertStephen took us to see local petroglyphs and old ranching ruins. Make sure you check out the local community garden too. Make sure you follow the hosts directions as Google maps took us down a back road that definitely wasn’t a great idea towing a trailer! The main dirt road is fine with just a very small hill at one point. Would highly recommend this spot to anyone!
DesertStephen was very gracious. We have hosted nearly 30 times but this was our first boondockers stay and was all and more than we anticipated! We requested the stay last minute and they accommodated us. Their spot was easy to access and the directions given perfect. “And as he said don’t follow google maps”! Thanks for the stay.
Friendly and helpful host, Stephen has a really nice setup for boondockers. Very quiet area, great sunrise and sunset views.
We had an incredible stay with them! Steve helped us with our camper and showed us some great places in the area!
The directions provided were easy to follow. I did miss the turn off the hi way as it came up on me quickly but no problem turning around on one of the next roads. The setting gives a great view of the desert and mountains. Easy in access to the fenced property with plenty of room to circle around to exit. We did not use any of the hookups that were graciously offered. Woke in the morning to watch several bunnies scampering around while having my morning coffee. The host greeted us when we arrived and had an opportunity to have a short conversation with the her husband as he was focused on his automotive project. We left early and did not have a chance to say thank you or goodbye but would not hesitate to stay here again if in the area.
Thanks for going out of your way helping us get to your place.
This place was an amazing gem in the desert. The hists directions were perfect and easy to follow. The location itself is beautiful and has amazing views of the night sky.
Its also super close to joshua tree.
We were greeted upon arrival and ensured we had everything we needed.
Unfortunately we did not get to interact with our hosts much due to some appointments and health issues they needed to take care of but the interactions we did have they seemed like very nice people.
We will definitely try to stay again if qe are in the area again.
I only stayed one night on the Rancho but was greeted by the hosts and offered electric and told to make myself at home. Was given a warning about keeping an eye on the pets due to predators in the area, but hey, that’s desert life for you. Didn’t get a chance to get to know the hosts as I usually do because a windstorm was going on the entire time, not fun to sit around a fire drinking wine. Maybe next time?!?
Thanks again for being a BDW host!!
This was our first B.W. experience as guests. Our little motor home had no problem with the dirt road to the property. Our hosts were kind and welcoming. We were greatfull for the use of their utilities. The desert was so quiet and peacefull. We might never have seen that area if not for our hosts.
With full hookups (water, power, dump) we hardly felt like we we’re boondocking! What a gift of RV resources! Thank you to our lovely hosts for allowing us to stay on your beautiful property!
Because of the strong gusting winds i was offered another day to wait out the wind. Thank you so much, my van is very affected by wind. I accepted with much appreciation. Enjoying another sunny warm quiet day to relax, nap and recuperate from the drive the previous day was just what I needed.
They generously let us stay on their property and let us hook up! 10/10 would recommend
Wonderful hosts, many great recommendations and even a ride to see the petroglyphs! We loved how quiet it was too. Thank you for having us.
As we pulled in, DesertStephen greeted us and directed us where to park. Even though we did not need them, he pointed out the hookups for power, water, and sewer. He along with his DW pointed our some of the things going on in their area, especially the King of Hammer races. Lastly, they very very graciously allowed us to store our trailer on their property for about a month. Great hosts!
We missed the first night as my travel times were way off. But Steve booked us in for the following evening without hesitation. It was like regular campsite with everything at our doorstep. I would highly reccomend this Host.
Thanks
Erv & Heather
With power, water and sewer hookup, we were about as comfortable as could be here. Great host and we appreciate such amenities while traveling from A to B. Be sure to follow directions as the road going in is dirt washboard with a short steep hill..a bit intimidating for us newbie RVers but definitely doable in our 28 foot motorhome.
We had a very quiet and safe night while traveling to Joshua Tree National Park. They are very close to the north west entrance. Thanks for helping us find you!
Had a quiet and restful stay here, our hosts offered a hook up, and dump.
Very interesting location at the end of a sandy desert road.
Certainly recommended!
Very nice people that were very accommodating! Thankful for their generosity and recommendations.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and every conversation I had with them. I immediately felt right at home and learned so much over the course of my stay! From food and recreation to fix-up-your-RV shops, they have the best recommendations. I'm looking forward to passing through this area again to catch up on adventures had!
Host provided great driving directions and had no issues finding the location in the dark. Woke up to a beautiful desert sunrise. Perfect way to start a trip.
We stayed just one night en route to Texas. Our hosts welcomed us warmly and gave us many tips, though our timeline didn't allow us to take advantage of all their great ideas. Thanks to a rare monsoon shower the heat wasn't too intense, and we enjoyed the landscape and sunset immensely. We hope we can return the favor, and that we meet again!
We wanted to stay 3 nights at Stephen and Patty's place but since I was in the middle of a product launch for my online business and I had barely no signal from TMobile, we had to cut it to one night.
The place is REALLY beautiful, a real piece of paradise in the middle of the desert!
Stephen and Patty are 2 really nice hosts. Kind of host that you feel comfortable the second you meet them.
You can't ask more from BW : Awesome host and place, full hookups, peaceful, secure, lot of space.
Really a place we would like to go back, when I won't be working ! ;)
These fine folks provided, ample room to park our RV complete with hookups, suggestions on local sights complete with a map, expansive view of the valley, quiet surroundings, Jeep ride to view local petroglyphs and RV jawing. What more could you ask for? We truly enjoyed our desert experience at their place! Thank you DesertStephen!
Steve and Patty are great people with full hookups that are better than most parks we have stayed at on our journey from Ohio.
Who else loans a DVD to someone just because it wasn't due back ?
Highly recommended for anything ranging from tent camper to 40 ft class A.
This was our first BW stay and we weren’t sure what to expect. Stephen and Patty responded quickly to our last-minute request. Stephen had moved vehicles around to ensure we had space, and provided everything we could need (power, water, dump). They shared some very helpful local information and were great hosts. Thanks so much!
If you want to meet some of the most gracious, and generous people on the planet, stop in at DesertStephens in Landers. When we originally stopped here, we only planned on staying one night. But, after one night, we couldn't leave. These guys were the best. They even asked us to stay and celebrate Thanksgiving with them. We were truly spoiled, and made a new friendship with these hosts. They took us for a ride in their rig as well, and showed us what the A class life is like. They know all the secrets, and places to go, and we can't wait to stop by again, and see what's new. Don't skip Landers, you'll miss out on some great sunsets, star gazing, and hosts. These guys are one of the reasons that the RV community has such a good name.
We stayed here one night on our way back from Joshua Tree. Stephen´s wife was really helpful and got us everything we needed for our stay. We only met Stephen very early in the morning before we left. Overall a very kind couple and a very nice stay.
Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming! The spot was level, fit our 41 foot fifth wheel easily, and even had hook ups!
On Saturday our hosts took us to a few places in the desert that we would have never found without them. Petroglyphs. A HUGE bolder. We had a great time and hopefully will get a chance to stay here again.
A big thanks to our hosts!
We had a fantastic time staying with DesertStephen and his wife and seeing the local area with them! It was hard to leave in the end and we hope to stay in touch. DS was super generous in lending me tools and sharing wisdom to do a few repairs and improvements on the old van mobile. If you are in Yucca Valley be sure to stop by Jelly Donut late afternoon/early evening and see what their mysterious box of pink donuts are selling for. I paid $4.75 for easily a dozen donuts. It goes down every hour by a dollar! You'd be a fool not to buy them at any price!
Enough jokes. Can't recommend DS & Co. enough. They are truly wonderful folk and you should stop by Landers to hang out with them. Or host them if they inquire!
Steve was a wealth of experience his wife a charm.. our trip to Joshua free excellent also!
