This was a nice stay. Host really made me feel welcome... even let me use his generator in the heat!
Blacksheep and I had met online because we had the same type of RV. Then, he sold me something, and later on, I sold him something. We had occasion to stop there to deliver it, but couldn't stay because the ground was too wet. But on our return trip, the ground was fine, and we had a good visit around his camp fire until late in the evening. Then we all went in town the next morning and visited some more over breakfast. However, shortly after we returned home, we were told he had sold the property and moved a few miles away. But as long as he has accommodations at his new location, we're sure that any traveler that is as down to earth and easy-going as Blacksheep will feel welcomed. We plan a return visit when we get in his area again, and look forward to it!
This is a very pleasant stop-over in a rural setting but only a few miles from the interstate. The host is pleasant and accommodating. Two suggestions though. We had to leave earlier than planned because it started to rain and the grassy parking area got very slick. This is a great spot for dry weather. There is also a train line very close by and they sound off at the crossing. We like trains so it didn't bother us but be aware.
We stayed at John's place for one night. It was only our second Boondockers experience and as it turned out it was John's first time being a host. We arrived at his quite country setting after driving past corn fields. John provided us with a spot under the trees and power. Thanks John. It was great to meet you and hear the stories from your 38 years service on Navy subs. We are on our way to Arizona for the first time and John shared his experiences in Arizona and especially Quartzsite giving us some valuable pointers.
