Located a short 20 miles from Interstate 80 and Elko Nevada, at the base of the beautiful Ruby Mountains, our "backyard" of adventure awaits you. Just minutes from hiking, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, ATVing, boating and much more we would love to host your RV stay. Our small community is rich in the Basque and Cowboy cultures, represented by several yearly festivals (January- Cowboy Poetry, July- Basque Festival & Silver State Stampede Rodeo) which brings visitors from around the globe. Although, ranching is still a valid part of our livelihood, our current economy is driven by one of the largest North American gold deposits and an industry of mining that surrounds it. Whether you are here to experience our wilderness, explore the trail of the fated Donner Party (home of the Donner Trail Interpretive Center), try your luck in the local casinos, or just enjoy a slice of the simple life by slowing down and relaxing in the wonder of the west, we would love to host your RV stay.
Accommodation Notes: We will do our best to accommodate up to two RVs, however being in the foothills of the rubies presents a challenge for finding somewhat level ground to host multiple longer rigs. We will do our level best to make a spot for you. TOAD Vehicles are welcome, but depending on total length may need to be unhooked and parked sepretly. We do have limited electricity hook up for one RV. You may use your generator till a respecatable hour in consideration of our neighbors (around 9 PM) We have access to water and you are more than welcome to use our hose to fill your tank but it's not the most convienant set up to be hooked up on a continual basis.
We want you to be aware that we have a Golden Retriever that pretty much has the has the run of the property, we will do our best to keep him out of your way. We also have multiple cats that are both indoors and out.
Please contact us and we will we will do our best to try to work out any accommodation hurdles.
We have a large lot and will find a place to squeeze you in
Our availability is based around our travel plans which centers around our rotating schedule. Send us an email with you desired dates and we will work to try and coordinate schedules to accommodate your needs.

We enjoyed our stay at the foothills of the Ruby Mountains. The hosts were kind and their dogs were well behaved. Thank you for letting us stay!
Very welcoming hosts who were able to accommodate our 40' Class A and our Jeep. We arrived to a gift basket of goodies and reading material of what to do in the area. The Ruby Mountains in the Fall are amazing and the Lamoille Canyon Scenic Drive was beautiful! Spring Creek and Lamoille are both beautiful small towns and our host was super knowledgeable of the area. Watch out for the mule deer. The dogs are too cool! Bring a tennis ball and you will have a friend for life! Would definitely stay here again.
The hosts could not have been more gracious. The site had beautiful views of the Ruby Mountains. Wish we had budgeted time to hike and explore. Next time!
a small spot in a quiet suburb. Good nights rest and a quiet street to walk the dog.
Our hosts were away so we communicated vis text ( I need to remember to do this vs email when phone #s are supplied). Their gracious daughter met us the next morning after our host's instructed us to feel free to settle in on their circular driveway. We enjoyed the views and quiet neighborhood and the local books our host provided on the area. Snacks were welcome too! Sadly the road to Lamoille Canyon was closed on our first full-day in the area so we explored Elko instead. Day 2 the fire smoke was unhealthy so we chose to depart a day early. We Will return to meet these gracious hosts in person on future travels.through this area.
Nice view of the mountains. Hosts were very helpful in hooking up and very accommodating. He also talked to us about the things to do nearby.
What a lovely stay near mountains! Hosts' greeted us with welcome basket. Excellent touch! We were so comfortable. Easily fit our 34ft travel trailer and Ram 2500 pickup in their driveway in a very safe area in a large neighbor hood in the countyside. Spent 2 days hiking up canyon on mountain to a gorgeous alpine lake. The temp there was only 70 degrees in the canyon. The
rain started and actually chilled us. Unforgettable...Our favorite BDW yet!
We stayed for a quick over night and Ruby View was out on a camping trip of their own. Ruby View welcomed us right in and made sure we were all set via text. The circular drive was an easy in and out, we didn't even need to unhook. The neighborhood was quiet and the sunset was superb! Even in the middle of July the night air was cool... mid 50s for the low! Thank you so much Ruby View and it would be a treat to meet you all in person some day.
We had a wonderful stay! The hosts stayed in contact with us and were outside waiting to assist us with parking when we arrived. They provided us with information on the area and goodies in a well thought out welcome basket. We were able to relax and had a nice few nights out of our usual RV park environment with amazing sunsets and plenty of room for our rig and 1 other. This was our first time using Boondockers Welcome and it was truly a wonderful experience! Thank you to our amazing hosts!
A great, scenic location with level parking and welcoming, friendly accommodating hosts. Easy access from the interstate near Elko very near the Ruby Mountains. Can’t ask for more!
Super Host even got goodie basket w all local info will for sure b back,Plenty more to Explore/Adventureize
An Awesome spot with a beautiful view of the Ruby Mountains!! Take the drive up into the old glacier valley, it's beautiful!! The host was very accommodating and even had a welcome basket! Tnx....I'll definitely be back and allow more time for hiking up in the valley.
Following a suggestion from our Ruby View hosts that we arrive early enough to enjoy and even hike Ruby Mountain, we landed at their home in the late afternoon. The ride up the canyon is both different and spectacular. And the hike was even better.
Once again we are charmed by the hospitality of fellow RVers. Even got a Welcome assortment of some things to read and sweets to enjoy along the road.
Our host greeted us us with a wonderful welcome basket that included drinks and trail mix but even more, there were books and pamphlets (to borrow) on things to do and the history of the area. We were directed to drive the canyon of the Lamoille valley since we arrived a bit before 4:00. It was incredible. We stopped at the end of the 12 mile drive and made a light dinner and enjoyed the beautiful mountains. Perfect stay between two long drives. Also, nearby were dump stations and Starbucks and fuel.
It is a small world. Susan, our host, and Susan, my wife, discovered they both grew up in the same town in Minnesota. Karl and Susan were positive people and very welcoming hosts.
Our Host were #1! They met us with a goodie basket with things about the local area, snacks and a wealth of knowledge of the area. Easy in and out for our 38’ class a. I recommend to disconnect if you have a toad, just makes it easier. Our host had great communications and made our first Boondockers welcome stay hard to top. Loved playing with their dogs. Thanks so much 😃👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Ruby View accepted our stay with only 1 day notice as we made our way back home from a long road trip. Very nice and greeted us with a welcome basket full of info on the area and goodies, which was more than kind. We didn’t get to see the area sights as we departed quite early the next morning (we heard Ruby Mountain hikes are amazing). Overall, thank you for the safe place to park and we even made friends with another Boondocker staying on property!
The location, the view, and wonderful hosts made my stay at Ruby View truly exceptional.
I highly recommend Ruby View.
Our hosts were very friendly and kind. Offered us water and snacks on our arrival. We chatted with them, including their children. Great view of the Ruby Mountains from their property. Thank you again to our Ruby View hosts!
Our host greeted us and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The camp spot was wide, long and level. You could tell they cared about our comfort. We would definitely stop here again.
We had a very great stay at our hosts house. Super friendly hosts with a sweet family and adorable dogs! Where they live is so beautiful with views of the Ruby Mountains. My husband and I loved our 3 night stay and would definitely love to stay again if ever in the area!
Very nice stay with super nice family hosts!!
We arrived with our 3 Golden Retrievers and were amazed how well the hosts had prepped for us and accommodated for our dogs! We had a very pleasant stay and really enjoyed the gorgeous views of the mountains. We would be happy to stay again and definitely recommend to others.
We only had a one night stay, but our hosts were very welcoming. They even gave us a little goodie basket that had lots of information about the area in addition to the goodies.
Susan and Karl are delightful and accommodating hosts. They go out of their way to see that guests are welcomed. They provided a kit of goodies and area information including maps and places to visit. We enjoyed getting to know them and their family. Highly recommend.
Hidden gem on the way across Nevada. Karl was very welcoming and provided a level parking space. We only had one night, will be back to explore the Ruby Mtns.
Our hosts were so kind and accommodating. And oh wow, what a view from our parking spot! The Ruby Mountains have a lot to offer if you choose to take advantage. We can't thank our hosts enough for their generosity and kindness. We will most certainly be back in the future.
Very friendly and helpful host! She greeted us with an information packet for the local area. The power was nice, parking was level. Sunsets were super amazing and the view of snow capped Ruby Mountains is breathtaking! Highly recommend this host
When we were done with the grocery shopping we text our hosts as our previous communications.
They both meet us as we drove up and we had a informative conversation and make yet another MN connection. We meet both of their dogs and 2 cats.
We look forward to a visit next year!
They are working on getting an electrical pedestal and water hookups. For now you can use the water hose from the front of the house and the same with electric.
This was our first Boondockers Welcome stay. Thanks!
Fabulous location, fabulous views, fabulous hosts.
We do wish we stayed in the area longer to explore a bit but we enjoyed the short walks we were able to take.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit with the hosts. What a great family and they were very welcoming and provided a lot of information to read about the history of the area. Very fun.
They have a very convenient and solid place to park. Verizon service was good.
Recommended. Would love to stay again if ever in the area.
Very accommodating hosts, they had us call when we got nearby to assure that we would know where to park. We felt very safe with the cute guard dogs :) thanks for hosting us!
I cannot say enough great things about our hosts! They were super friendly, accommodating, and so helpful! They helped make sure we were able to get setup okay and we really enjoyed an evening visiting and meeting the family. They also had great information readily available about nearby attractions and activities! Plus, the views of the Ruby Mountains from their property are outstanding! This was our "maiden voyage" with our travel trailer and our hosts helped make it so memorable 💖❤
Easy to park my RV there. Friendly lady. Enjoyed playing with the kids and the dogs.
We had to cut our visit short. But our hosts were very accommodating, met us at the driveway and helped us get set up. We will definitely stay again in the future.
Very friendly and informative, but not intrusive. This is a safe and quiet neighborhood. We very much enjoyed our time here.
Easy location right in front of house to pull through & park. Host provides area information but only stayed for quick overnighter thus time.
This stay was wonderful! The family was was very accommodating and friendly. He even stopped work on a project to not raise dust or noise for us. ( we wouldn't have minded, but noticed, and appreciated the gesture.)
The site was large and level and had no problem with getting in. They offered electricity and water, but we didn't need it, and they gave us a packet of brochures, books, and pamphlets of things to do and see in the area. We did a absolutely gorgeous hike on Ruby Mountain that they recommended.
I would most definitely recommend this stay and we hope to go back again some day!
Tony and Laura
We had a wonderful stay at Ruby View. Our host was very nice and even made muffins for us on our last morning. We plan to come back.
What a beautiful view of the Ruby Mountains! The host was friendly, communicative, helpful and kind. We were on the run from fires in Oregon and our travel plans were changing day by day. She rolled with the changes and didn’t bat an eye as circumstances got hectic. Thank you for the hospitality. I hope we’ll have a chance to return and to return the favor!
Great hosts. Even working on a pad for future RV ers to stay on.
Thank you Ruby View for going above and beyond to make us feel so welcome. The host is passionate about more people visiting this overlooked area. I’m so glad with her generosity we were able to stay and visit places we never would have seen otherwise. We both agree it was so worth it! This was our first Boondockers Welcome experience and it was amazing. Gorgeous surrounding areas to hike and swim. We are looking forward to our next time coming through the area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this quiet spot. The hosts are very welcoming and gave us lots of tips on what to see and do. They responded very quickly. We had a beautiful view of the Ruby Mountains and they did not disappoint At sunset. Enjoyed the Thomas Canyon hike and saw eight waterfalls but it was a very steep hike. There is a RV dump at the Shell station In elko At 1415 Mountain city Highway. No portable water but we were able to fill up at the host site. Hope to see them again in our travels or their travels.
Pleasure meeting this delightful family!! And the accommodations are good. They have carved out a spot for us Boondockers, going so far as to even put in a culvert to make access and egress easy! Quiet neighborhood. Beautiful view of the Ruby Mountains. Hope to see them someday at our location.
Our favorite Boondocker's Welcome stop! This family is hospitable, warm, inviting - even the kids and the dogs. :)
Just stopped for the nite with these lovely folks! It was a quiet nite - perfect cure for a long day of noisy driving. It was truly worth the small detour from the interstate. I’ll definitely stop here again.
Wonderful host with an amazing view. I went for a sunrise walk around the loop, so glad I did! Thank you again for a great stopping point.
We love this family! They are wonderful hosts and now friends! We took a hike in the Ruby Mountains while there and had a good time.
Spending two days with Susan & Karl and their family was just the PERFECT rest that I needed, after babk-to-back-to-back long hauls from Pennsylvania. And by family, I mean their kids, and including their wonderfully friendly dogs Charlie & Luna. Their cats were even aggressively friendly! They've moved from hosts to friends, and Lord willing we'll be back!
Great views of the Ruby mountains. Hosts were gone on their own trip but kindly arranged for a neighbor to help us get settled. Very friendly and helpful. Would like to return someday and meet the hosts
We had to move up our stay by two days, Ruby View made this work for them, on same day notice. We truly appreciate their cooperation. We had a great chat, got to meet the kids and dogs.
Thanks again for a wonderful stay.
11/10, such a kind family full of wonderful people, very inviting, beautiful place, wonderful pets, will absolutely stay again!
We had a very enjoyable stay at Ruby View. Beautiful, quiet area. The hosts were nice and worked hard to accommodate us. We will definitely stay again next time we are in the are.
Amazing stay! Amazing hosts! We were greeted & welcomed above and beyond anything we could have expected.
They are the most loving & caring family! The whole family was amazing!
Beauty surrounds their home
on every side with the Ruby Mountains! Great hiking!!!
We look forward to staying in touch and seeing them again!
Hopefully we can return the epic boon dockers welcome stay!
We had another excellent boondocking experience at Ruby View site. Beautiful view of the RubyMountain and excellent spot to overnight on our trip. Very much appreciated. Thanks again. Hope to return the favour one day. 👍🏽
We woke up to the beautiful snow-capped mountains, wonderful hospitality and conversation from Susan. Thank you for making our short stay so welcoming!
The couple who host here were very nice! The spot is simple, and in a safe neighborhood. It was exactly what we needed for a quick overnight spot. Thank you!
Our stay here was supposed to be 2 days but ended up only being 1. However it was a great one! Susan was so helpful and her property worked well, even for being 44 feet long! Thank you Susan for your hospitality. Hopefully we cross paths again and maybe next time it'll be when you're on the road too :)
We had a fantastic time boondocking on Susan and Karl's property. They are very welcoming, our children loved playing with the dogs and running around the yard. We spent the day hiking in Lamoille Canyon and the views were breath taking. One of the best hikes we've done on our trip. Hopefully we'll be back someday!
We ended up staying for 3 nights at this lovely location with great views of the Ruby Mountains. A lovely family to spend time with, we had a great time - thank you
We truly enjoyed our stay at Ruby View. The family is adorable and very friendly. We would love to stop in again and enjoy more of the surrounding area.
Was greeted upon arrival and told where to set up then later joined part of the family in the shade and had great conversation. Later we shared stories on the front porch as we had wine and cheese. I really felt included like I was part of the family. The world needs more people like these.
An incredible stay! Such a wonderful family! It was great getting to know them all, sitting around chatting until all hours of the 'night'! LOL! Beautiful views of the surrounding Ruby Mountains and super suggestions from the host on where to go to get even better views too! Love you guys! Hopefully we'll see you again!
Tom and Lori
We really enjoyed our stay especially because you have a wonderful view of the Ruby mountains ⛰! Our hosts were so accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed the dogs and cats . They gave us great information about the area. We went to Lanoille Canyon Recreation Area which was so scenic, thanks to our hosts for this recommendation! We will be back sometime in the future because the hosts were wonderful people!
We enjoyed our stay at Ruby View. Very accommodating, kind, friendly hosts. If we weren’t headed home we would have loved to explore the history and beauty of the surrounding area. Would definitely put it on our list to visit again!
Thanks for an amazing stay! You were a very gracious host! You guys live in a beautiful area and we were blessed to be able to spend some time with you. We will definitely stop by if we’re back in the area! Thanks again!!
Not only was the parking great for our 40' motor home but we wouldn't have needed to even unhook our 'toad'. Our site's view of the Ruby Mountains 'pulled us in'. With Ruby's recommendation (as to where to drive) we spent a day sight seeing around and in those mountains.
The hosts are SO FLEXIBLE! We had arranged to do something together, but we had something come up and had to leave earlier than scheduled. Our host's were so 'forgiving'. We hope to return some time in the future!
View was spectacular... hiking Lamoille Canyon, spectacular. My hosts Ruby View... spectacular. This was a bit off the beaten path and so worth it, that I stayed an extra day. I love it when Boondockers Welcome brings people together that otherwise would never have met, and lives become richer because of it. Happy I met these guys, I will be back.
We were delighted to meet Ruby View along with their household of kids, cats, and a friendly dog named Charley. They welcomed us with open arms and even provided dinner for us and our travel buddies (we had a total of two rigs, four adults, and two dogs). Their place had a great view of the mountains and the neighborhood was very quiet. We would be thrilled to visit again in the future.
