Beautiful location in the woods! Sugar Shack was a great stop before our visit to Quebec City. Our host and his family were very helpful to make this stay and departure a success. I highly recommend Sugar Shack to all Boondockers who are looking for a place to stay in this area!!
What an experience it was for us to meet Irinee. He introduced us in the produce and forms of meaple sirup. Thank you for that hartly welcome. We appriciated it very much. You are always welcome when you visit our country.
We enjoyed also the area!!!

This boondocker's stay was one of the best on our trip. The peacefulness, the beauty of fall among maple trees would have been enough to put a smile on our faces but then our host took the time to explain the entire maple sugar process to us. From tree to bottle and he even gave us a tasting. Who needs wine tasting when you can have maple syrup tasting? Phenomenal stay! We learned so much and loved waking up to the beautiful pond in the morning.
What a place to visit! Beatifull farm and very friendly owner who has a lot of passion for his job, very nice to see. We had a nice look around and it was a good location for visiting Quebec city. Thanks for the hospitality and the memories!
Great stop. Hosts super friendly and helpful. Our girls loved the tree house. We would stay again.
I did visit the Sugar Shack & it was outstanding.
Also Irené was very friendly & a great communicator.
Thank you Irené.
For our first time Boondocking, Irené's Sugar Shack set the bar very high.
Irené could not have been more welcoming and was a perfect host. The Sugar Shack itself is amazing and we were kindly given a tour of the production area, along with amazing facts and information, including tips on how to improve our own small scale efforts in making Maple Syrup. Would thoroughly recommend the purchase of some of their delicious bounty.
The site itself is as described, but beware of sat nav instructed switch back! Don't take this, take the signed road " Chemin Poulin" chalet 1-38.
Merci beaucoup Irené. Vous trés gentil.
The "Sugar Shack" is a beautiful piece of property where 2,500 maple trees are linked by tubing which captures their "sugar" for the syrup that Irene' (you need a French keyboard to accurately spell his name (and it is "his") and his extended family make in this little bit of heaven. Several different areas where you can park; the one I chose was right in front of a pond where I could watch two industrious muskrats gathering leaves all day.
Irene' gave me a tour and lessons on syrup making (it's not the season so the property is quiet with only Irene' or a family member coming by the use the workshop) which is as much science as art.
This rural area of Quebec is beautiful, full of well-tended farms and lots of wildflowers. And Irene' will make you feel as welcome as family.
very nice quiet place to stay. watch musgrats in the pond & had good tour of sugar shack, learned about maple sugar
Irene was welcoming and friendly. Enjoyed my stay, host, and setting. It was very hot but in the shade very comfortable
Thank you! Sorry we didn’t talk to you before we got on our way. P.s. a hair dryer blue the breaker. Great spot, great host! Thanks so much.
What a wonderful spot and host, only wish we had more time to enjoy the area, hope we get the opportunity to reciprocate the hospitality.
We had a wonderful evening at the Sugar Shack. Nestled in the middle of a maple sugar forest, the Sugar Shack provided us a peaceful night. This was our first experience staying at a Boondockers Welcome host and Sugar Shack did not disappoint. Thank you so much for the hospitality.
Beautiful property. We enjoyed the natural setting with the woods and pond. Our hosts we super obliging. Highly recommended location.
Wonderful host gave us tour of their family maple syrup farm and allowed us to stay an extra day. We hope to come back soon.
Great spot for our Motorhome. Thanks again for hosting us and the Sugar Shack tour and explanation of the maple syrup process.
So nice of her to allow us to stay at her beautiful place while she was away on vacation. Her son took great care of us and showed us the maple syrup production. We will likely regret only purchasing 1 gallon. Thank you!
We really enjoyed our stay at Irene and Murielle's Sugar Shack. We were backed up to the pond and saw ducks, frogs, a bank beaver and an angry woodpecker (He didn't think we should be in his territory). Irene and Murielle welcomed us and made sure we were comfortably situated. Thanks for everything.
We couldn’t have been happier! Highly recommended.
Rene met us on site and graciously offered us a tour of his operations. He is a third (at minimum!) generation syrup maker and his passion for the art is clear. He was very friendly, and his sugar bush is great for exploring. We highly recommend others stay here and we would happily do so again!
So fortunate and grateful to have been allowed the opportunity to stay at the sugar shack! Our children were able to participate and hear firsthand the process of making maple syrup along with a little taste test! This family was so giving of their time and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful spot along the river! Thank you for the wonderful stay!
We cannot imagine a more pleasant experience than our stay at the Sugar Shack. We enjoyed so many things while there. a tour of the Sugar Shack (with samples!), a walk through the maple forest, tourism tips on visiting Quebec City (in English!), and even a second night's stay. Irene and Murielle were warm and welcoming hosts. We cannot thank them enough.
Wonderful experience at Irené and Murielle
How generous of them and thank you for taking the time to explain all the operation of the maple sirup process. What a beautiful place to sleep under the maples and in silence.
We will surely come back someday.
We were given an extremely good explanation concerning how maple syrup is done, from the maple tree itself to the final product. Irené is a very good teacher and his products are extremely good....
Hope to see them again
Yvon and Marie
Truly a beautiful place with wonderful hosts! If you are going anywhere nearby well worth the trip!
Great location, wondering host, very interesting and impressive maple sugar family business. We had such a quiet nights sleep that we slept in. :)
Thank you Irene
What a wonderful experience! Irene and Murielle were the most gracious hosts and spent a great deal of time with us explaining the maple syrup production process from bark to bottle - fascinating! We stayed two nights on their property right next to a lovely pond nestled in amidst the maple trees, and really appreciated how quiet and peaceful it was there. Irene couldn't have been more helpful and Murielle even stoped by one morning to deliver freshly laid eggs for our breakfast - delicious! They also gave us great suggestions on local places to eat and visit while we were here. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you both so much!
We were thrilled with our stop at sugar shack. Lovely secluded location by sugar bush central.
The hosts were delightful, we loved the complete tour of the sugaring process and the samples as well yum👍
Great location. Hope we are able
To swing by another time or host them at our location
Irene and his wife Muriel were awesome! We're very new to this site, but are so very glad we found it. We've used it a few times on our trip across Canada, but I can tell you, if you can, stay here! Irene showed us so much about how maple syrup et.al. is made and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The setting is amazing
Nestled in the trees and quiet, quiet! We got a chance to converse one night, we both were busy the next. I really can't thank him enough and yes, we are coming home right maple syrup.from his farm! Woohoo!
Thank you! A very magical forest full of peace and tranquility. Had a wonderful sleep, very safe, and felt renewed in the morning! Loved the froggy choir! Just what was needed after a long and very hot drive through cities!
Thanks to our lovely hosts we had a wonderful time at their Boondockers site and in Quebec City. We learned an incredible bit about the gathering and making of maple syrup and our hosts were the best!!!! We really appreciated the advise to go to Levis and take the Ferry instead of driving into Quebec City. We landed at the base of the hill and walked to the Chateau Frontenac and the old city. If you have problems walking the hill you can take the Funicular ride up!! Thanks to Muriel for the home made maple candy, that was a lovely touch and we would come back again in a heartbeat if we get this way again!! Merci, merci beaucoup!!!!
A nice quiet place to hang your hat for a night or two. Great camping under large shade trees on this maple sugar farm. Irene was away but sent someone to help us settle.
We had a bit of difficulty turning our 60 ft truck and trailer around, but not impossible.
Thanks so much for your hospitality.
We stayed on this property Sept. 2017
Spent two nights (Sept 16-17) at this beautiful spot surrounded by several large maple trees that were in full colour! Very pieceful and lots of room for large RV's. Host was out of town but had a neighbour drop by to take care of our needs and answer our questions, very helpful.
Would highly recommend others staying here.
We stayed 2 nights Sept 16 & 17 in this beautiful Maple Tree Farm. The location provided easy access to Quebec City (approx 70 km). The farm is quiet and provided power. We unfortunately didn't get to meet Irene as he was away, however a very helpful neighbour greeted us and provided all the information that we needy.
The sugar shack offers an exceptionally quiet and relaxing place to park.
Our hosts took the time to ensure that we were aware not only of local activities but also aware of the little details of how to do things to make our visit to the Quebec City area truly outstanding.
The guided tour of the sugar shack and the detailed explanation of the processing of the maple sap was greatly appreciated.
Irené was nice enough to let us stay even though he was out of town. It was a very quiet and peaceful spot. The driveway was a bit tight for our 24ft RV, but we still managed to squeeze in! We were a little disappointed that we couldn't get a tour of Irené's maple operation!
Irene was our first ever stay with Boondockers Welcome and I can't say enough about our wonderful hosts. Irene was so welcoming and, like others before us, gave us the full tour of the sugar bush operations. He showed us to a lovely spot where we could park and listen to the frogs serenade us all night. Beautiful! I would highly recommend a stay with Irene and we would love to stay with them again.
we spent one night with Irene and wish we would have spent more - it is a wonderful place in the midst of a maple arbor - we were given a complete tour of maple farming and processing - and learned so much - the villages around the area are delightful to visit and the churches are just awesome to see - we would be sure to stop again here when in the area - we wish him and his wife the best
We had the opportunity to spend two nights at the "Sugar Shack" and the welcome we received could not have been better. Irene went out of his way to accommodate us, he gave us a tour of his maple sugar operation which included a taste test at the end. His passion for the craft that has been passed along through several generations of his family was evident and the time he took to educate us on it was appreciated. We also met several members of his family who welcomed us with open arms, thank you for the lovely desert. I highly recommend these fine people as hosts and we hope to be able to reciprocate if they find themselves in Newfoundland sometime in the future.
Jusqu a ce que nous nous reverrons mon amis!
Hope I got that right!!
May 24, 2017 - had a lovely visit and a wonderful night listening to the small frogs in the nearby pond. Our hosts were not available when we arrived, but instructed us to make ourselves at home. They arrived later to make sure we were fine, and showed us around their sugar shack. Lovely couple, highly recommended!
We spent a couple of nights with I and M. Made very welcome and helped with electric hookup. It was so interesting to learn the process of collecting the sap and making of the maple products. Had no idea. It was brilliant to be able to put into practice my French. Such a lovely quiet, restful site. Thanks for being superb hosts. A and A
We had a visit with these people. Thanks very much for the wonderful camping spot and the great tour of your maple syrup operation. We advise anyone passing this way to stop by and enjoy the hospitality.
We had a restful stay at this location. The hosts were away on their own trip, so they arranged for neighbours to meet us. The neighbours kindly helped us back in and explained where we could find a free dumping station nearby the next day. Thank you for a great stay! A wonderful introduction to boondocking.
Irene' went above all expectations in greeting me and making me comfortable. Assisted in getting my RV parked and provided a 15 amp hookup. Later, after I was settled in, he introduced me to his family and some neighbors.
The following day he gave me a complete tour of his maple syrup operation and explained the detailed process.
Because I expressed an interest in visiting a local church he arranged a personal "behind the scenes" tour.
Also, he invited me to stay as long as I wished. I stayed a week.
There is a free dump station about 4 miles from the site at a local gas station.
We had the absolute pleasure of staying with Irene ( my ipad will not let me put in the accent over the last "e" in his name) He and his wife Murielle were very welcoming. He put us on his " sugar shack" land just around the corner from his home. He gave us a tour and talk about what goes
into making maple syrup and maple sugar, maple butter and toffee! Wow!
He even left the door to his building open so we could use his washroom if we chose to. The next morning our camper wouldn't start and Irene spent a great deal of time getting us towed to his friends garage where we were immediately looked after even though they had other customers ahead of us.
When it was determind that we had to leave the camper and go back home......he even drove us to the Quebec city airport so we could rent a car!....this was over 50 kms one way!
We owe them big time!....thank you thank you thank you....Doug and Cheryl
Thanks so much for having us for one night. We're sorry we didn't have an opportunity to meet you and learn about what appears to be a fascinating sugar operation. A very pretty spot.
My wife Angie & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at our host's property and we learned a lot about the maple syrup operation. He is a very friendly and family-oriented man who made us feel very welcome. David
