Have you stayed at this host location?
Leave a reference for this hostWe live in a single family home in a sub-division north section of Kemptville, ON that has homes on 1+ acre lots. This location is approximately 30 minutes south of Ottawa (Canada's capital) and 30 minutes north of Ogdensburg, NY. It is easily accessible from Highway 416 (exit 42 if traveling south and exit 34 if travelling north). Parking is available on our paved driveway, next to our rig. We can offer water for your holding tank (if we are home) and 30 amp electric - therefore no need to run a generator. We can also offer you high speed WiFi, if we are home, otherwise, it seems it is a bit temperamental and doesn't always work in the rigs as well as we think it should. It works on the front porch.
Have fun, enjoy yourselves, relax and take a load off. Although we have put a maximum of 2 days, this MAY be extended. There is no smoking on the property. Poop and scoop rules apply to pet owners. No need to run generators as we provide 30 amp hookup.
All roads from the highway to our house are paved and kept clear of low hanging branches. However, there are 2 traffic circles/roundabouts on County Road 43, soon after getting off the highway. Our Driveway is slightly sloping (nothing that can't be dealt with using blocks or jacks).
Driveway is approx 66' long and 24' wide. If 5th wheel and depending on length, you may not have to detach. If Class A, toad can park in front of rig, same with Class C. Class Bs, we can park two of you.
We can normally offer a place from May-early October. As we also love travel, there are times when we are "on the road". Please contact us to check availability. We usually check e-mail daily, unless we are on a cruise!
Parliament Hil, Governor General's Residence, Changing of the Guard, in summer, Ottawa museums and art gallery. Surrounding small towns along the Rideau River and canal lock system. Beautiful area to do site-seeing and just relax.
We had a pleasant stay although didn’t get a chance to meet the hosts in person. Nonetheless they were very helpful and accommodating for our stay. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.
Thank You so much. The only thing we missed was meeting you. Beautiful location.
Next year hopefully, we will get to meet.
Cheers, Terry + Ken
Warm and welcoming is what they are all about. What a great evening of conversation. They were extremely helpful. Loved it.
There was interesting conversation on host porch.
Nice quiet location in a calm environment.
We thought we had left a referral or these kind people when we confirm the check out however it's so important that we do say a few words about them we're going to do it here as well.
Jen and Marcel went out of their way to ensure we were set up and comfortable. Such lovely people they had electric connected to our vehicle and their vehicle leveled in their parking area within minutes of arrival. We also got to visit and tour their fifth wheel which they have recently sold.
Coffee and chatting on the deck until it was too dark to see the amazing pictures in their photo books was just an added highlight of our stay.
These Hosts made us feel so welcome with coffee time and chatting about places they've been and places we should and should not go. Their years of experience made us even more excited on the adventures we have ahead of us.
They set us up to receive a bonus when we signed up for Passport America which we already have done. Thanks for the tip and thanks for the 3-month extension on our membership.
Their home is a short drive from Ottawa and was a great stopover point for us.
We hope to see them both on our future travels and perhaps will dropping again to stay for a night.
Thank you for your hospitality and your generous spirit.
We stayed with BusyRetirees on Sept 5/17 and they were warm and welcoming. This was our first time using Boondockers Welcome and it was a great experience. Providing us with power and water and a bedtime snack, we had great conversation and a fantastic nights sleep after spending a couple of nights at truck stops. Thanks so much for your insight, advise, friendship and great hosting. Highly recommend staying here to anyone travelling through the area (if they're not out using 'Boondockers Welcome' themselves..).
An additional note: our having a dog with us was not an issue.
Great new friends we hope to meet up with on the road.

Marcel and Jeannette took time from their very busy schedule to welcome us, insure we were set up in their driveway and later made recommendations about sites to visit around the area. We spent a wonderful day hiking through a nearby forest and then along a trail on the historic Rideau canal, as well as a short time at the local farmer's market. We appreciated their hospitality.
