It was my first stay through Boondockers Welcome. First night too on my journey to the West. Janis and Lorence gave me a warm welcome despite a late arrival. We had a walk on their property in the morning. Peaceful, my dog loved it and I have learnt to recognize some animal tracks. Thank you so much to both of you!
It was a great moment ! The host have experience in boondocking and knows how To comfort people. You must go there!!
Thank you again for your kindness!
Psssttt for the french people... La dame se débrouille très bien en français 😉
Extremely gracious hosts! Only a one night stay but we had a great visit that left us leaving with new friends. This was our first experience with Boondockers and they set the bar very high.
The hosts we're very friendly. We enjoyed conversing with them, albeit shortly as we were only over for one night.
We had a great stay with Hartwood at their beautiful home. They had informed us that they might not be there when we arrived but to make ourselves at home in the indicated parking spot, which we did. When they got back home they invited us to join them on their back deck at a good social distance for a nice chat. A nice experience for our very first boondocker stay.
We enjoyed this beautiful property in the forest. It was so great to recover from our long haul of travelling from BC before carrying on further! It was especially sweet to awake to birdsong.
Our hosts were attentive and helpful. Many thanks!!
What a lovely place and specially what a lovely couple. Laurence and Janis made us feel at home right away and made sure we were confortable. Thank you for allowing us to stay on you property and thank you for the nice conversations, we hope to see you again soon.
We had such a lovely stay with this Boondockers couple! We chatted over a cup of tea and they gave us all sorts of excellent suggestions for our upcoming travels! Thank you both for letting us stay at your beautiful place, glad we have stayed in touch! Take care!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful property in a quiet setting.
Janis and Lorence were helpful in suggesting interesting places to visit.
Looking forward to our next trip to North Bay!
Lovely short stay at a quiet spot. The hosts made us feel very welcome.
Quiet location. Fantastic hosts. Memorable conversation over a warm cup of tea in their home. Rejuvenating walk in the 26 acre woods in the morning, a perfect start for my day. Would love to have spent more time as the conversation was very stimulating. Hope that they will swing by my home during their travels.
Thanks so much to the good folks of Hartwood for allowing us to set up in their driveway after bedtime. Our stay was brief but the welcome they gave and instructions given as to what to see and do in North Bay were fantastic. We will travel north again, and will be sure to look you up again.
We were warmly welcomed by a very kind and smiling couple.
We slept very well because the place is quiet and well located in a beautiful forest.
Thank you so much,
Rachelle and Yves
Lorence and Janis greated us nicely when we arrived and then gave us privacy so we could rest & enjoy the beautiful forest around us. We definitely recommend this place but bring your bugs spray
;-)!
Quiet night surrounded by nature.
Thanks again for the help fixing my little table. I’m very thankful for your generosity.
:-)
Our travels often seem to take us to Hartwood...this was our 3rd stay! Wonderful hosts who are very welcoming and have a wealth of knowledge about the area. Beautiful setting with pretty easy access. Definitely a great site for a peaceful visit. Thanks again Hartwood!
Site allowed us to drive in with our 18 foot truck and 27 foot trailer and comfortably turn them to park the trailer safely out of harm's way. Firm, well-drained and level ground. Wonderfully quiet neighbourhood. Brief drive to North Bay and city amenities, including a busy but efficient hospital emergency department, a welcoming Seniors' social club, and a First Nations no-tax gasoline outlet (all used by us). Hosts informed us of approaching events and suggested we extend our stay to attend them, which we did. We enjoyed a wilderness hike on marked trails that paralleled a very active scenic river dropping steeply to L. Nippissing. Our hosts respected our privacy in spite of our proximity to their front door. Callander's library affords visitors access to the internet. In sum, a recommended boondocking location.

We stayed one night with Lorence and Janis on their beautiful wooded property. It was like staying in a national/state/provincial park but having the whole park to ourselves! We had a nice chat with our hosts who talked to us about their favorite boondocking location, Newfoundland, which happens to be our next planned big trip! That evening, we enjoyed our diner in our RV while watching up close two deer grazing in their yard. After that, we went hiking on their trails and saw another deer, three frogs and lots of colourful mushrooms. We spent a quiet and restful night there. We highly recommend Lorence and Janis as hosts!
May 25, 2017 - spent a peaceful night at our hosts site which they graciously made available in spite of their other commitments that day. They also provided detailed instructions to help find them, with sighseeing tips along the way which were greatly appreciated. Lovely location and friendly hosts. Highly recommended.
We stayed two nights with Janis and Lawrence and it was wonderful meeting them. Janis found for us some local activities and gave us information about places to go with our son. My son enjoyed very much playing with their grand kids and we all had a great time.
Thank you so much for letting us stay and to share with us some wondeful moments
