We are in a quiet neighborhood in outer southeast Portland. We are near a school. Many families live here and kids play in the street. Our home has a huge driveway and there is room for you to park behind our travel trailer. Pets negotiable if they are ok with our pets or stay in the trailer mostly. BBQ negotiable. We snake an extension cord for electric out of the garage into the driveway for you to connect to if asked. You can fill your tank from our water if you have a hose. However, water is EXPENSIVE in Portland so a contribution would be appreciated. Wifi is off our Karma "Go" device which provides 100mgs for free to each email account.
We sleep in and stay up late. Pretty much impossible to text too late, but don't be surprised if no-one responds to the door or a text in the morning.
No smoking close to the house please.
Feel free to text to check in on anything. ;)
We are close to I205. Neighborhood street with many people parked at night. Talk to us about the best approach! (Pull through only available on street.) Parking in our driveway for up to 3 nights.
On street or in driveway if your rig is short-ish.
We often travel on many weekends and in the winter. Contact us to work out timing. If we are not there, our son, Jack, might be.
We are close to the bus so you can pop downtown for $5/day. Saturday Market, the 'food trucks', Voodoo donut, people-watching, Powell's "city of books", views of Mount Hood, a stroll along the river, bicycle rentals to take the trails, lot's of fun stuff! (Sort of like a slightly slower paced, less expensive Seattle or San Francisco. LOL)
This was my first stay and I am thankful for the host's generosity in being a Portland boondocker! We coordinated via text, which worked well for me. Abeltaine recommended a good spot to eat nearby as well. I rolled into the driveway around 9:30 and set up for sleeping and texted that I had arrived. In the morning I woke before the host and did a little yoga inside their back fenced area (which they had offered as space I could use if needed), and then I hit the road. Thank you Abeltaine for your generosity.
Easy to find and they provided access to power and internet, which was much appreciated! Location close enough to downtown that it was a cheap Lyft to take to get to the action but far enough away that it was a nice quiet neighbourhood.
Abeltaine was a great host for us. They had good recommandation for spot to visit in Portland. There location is great, in a quiet neighbourhood. They also provided electricity and water.
We would visit them again anytime!!
Very responsive, accommodating, and very easy to work with. Provided clear instructions.
The driveway is very level with a (rather bright) streetlight at the end. It was a hot Saturday night and the neighborhood quieted down after midnight and was so quiet into the morning that I overslept!
Abeltaine were terrific hosts. They were very responsive and accommodating and had a great location that allowed us to bike and walk and have a wonderful experience of Portland. If you're going to Portland, be sure to bring your bikes! Thanks for hosting us Abeltaine.
Abeltaine was a great host for us on a (not so) recent trip to Portland. Our respective schedules were kind of all over the place, but they were more than willing to be flexible with the days we needed.
A bit of a delayed recommendation on our part, but in no way reflective of Abeltaine's hospitality. We would recommend, and stay again.
Abeltaine was very friendly and incredibly welcoming, and not only allowed us to park in her driveway, but also very generously allowed us use of her power and water during our stay. Her spot was big enough for our rig (23 feet with slide).
Access to her drive was very easy.
Great location, convenient to downtown.
We were very pleased to be able to stay with Abeltaine during our time in the area and would not hesitate to stay there again in the future if the space is available!
Amy and Thorne were great hosts. They were busy doing some home repairs so we didn't catch up at length but nevertheness they helped us feel at home and provided guidance for using the buses into Portland (very simple one hour journey). Thanks so much for giving us the chance to explore your wonderful city!
We stayed with abeltaine for one evening as we traveled through from Seattle. We appreciated their spot, and their accommodation as we ended up being about 2 hours later than we originally thought. We were able to get some much needed rest and to catch up on work before heading back on the road. Thanks again!
