We bought a piece of property in Northeast Alabama, and now plan to host again. We are on about eight acres in an agricultural/rural area on Sand Mountain. It's fairly level ground, and the property has some trees, so caution is advised.
We're working to get electricity to the campsite area. We can offer water to fill your tank. Propane refill is about a ten-minute drive. Well behaved, leashed (& picked up after) pets are welcome. Our dog gets along with all creatures. Well, he does like to chase rabbits.
*Considerate generator hours and noise level appropriate
*No campfires during high winds or dry situations
*Responsible pet owners - be in control of your pet, and please pick up after them
*Cigarette and cigar smoking - only inside your RV
The road to our property is good. There are some roads nearby that aren't RV friendly (we bottomed out once). Please contact us as to the direction from which you're arriving.
Once you enter our driveway, there is one turn (we're working to widen) that would limit the size rig due to the turn radius. We've taken our 32' RV in there with no issues. Our friends towed their 27' travel trailer in there, also with no issues. We're here to assist at this point. After making that turn, there are approximately 3+ acres in which to maneuver.
Next to your rig
We are available most times. Please contact us.
We're located near some amazing State Parks -- Desoto SP in Fort Payne, AL, and Cloudland Canyon SP in Rising Fawn, GA. Some nearby attractions are - Chattanooga, Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls, Desoto Falls, Little River Canyon Falls, Mushroom Rock.
This was our first Boondockers Welcome stay. Mike and Penny were amazing hosts. They greeted us when we arrived, led us to where we could park, shared recommendations for local produce, and (since we are new to this) tips and tricks as well as where else we should check out. Their property is beautiful and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and conversation with them!
Mike and Penny are wonderful, nice people. We enjoyed hearing about their adventure in Alaska. The farm is peaceful and quiet. Great place to relax. Penny gave me the best tip...after back tire clears the obstacle..pivot point...rv is clear.
Easily one of our very best boondocking experiences, Mike and Penny are a joy to spend time with. Thank you so much for hosting our family!
We knew we had to stay there just based on their profile photo- my wife and I are beginning banjo and mandolin players, and we got some great pointers from Mike. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and we had a great time. They even let us use their fridge while we had to make a repair to ours. They also suggested a wonderful place to kayak, which we really enjoyed.
This was our first experience with Boondockers Welcome, and we could not have had a better time! Mike and Penny have a spacious property and a cozy home. The minute we arrived, we were treated like old friends and even invited in for dinner and a glass of wine. After lots of laughs and lively conversation, they even played and sang a few songs. We are very happy to have met this delightful couple!
Mike was very responsive and accepted our request to stay a couple of nights at very short notice. Pennie was out of town so we did not get to meet her, but Mike was extremely friendly with a great sense of humor. Joe enjoyed sharing some cold ones with him on the porch! They are located near Tarpon Springs and about an hour to other interesting sites. I would highly recommend Mike n Pennie as a Boondocking stop!
We really enjoyed our stay with Penny and Mike. They were very welcoming and their place was perfect for our 40' 5th wheel. Recommend them highly! Hope we get to see you two again sometime :)
Mike was the great host. He even moved his car for us so that we could hook up to electricity. We are so grateful that he was willing to host us on such short notice.
We had a great time stayingandexchanging good storys, and a good night of playing music together! So nice people!
Very quiet place, near beautiful things to see.
Although we weren't able to stay at mike and penny's because they were at a music festival, they suggested we meet them there. We did and we're so glad. We had a great time at the festival and a great time with them at there little jam session. Hopefully next time through we'll be able to make it to there home as I'm sure they would be great hosts
Mike n Penny are very generous hosts who went out of their way to welcome us and spend time with us. They live on acreage in a quiet spot in Hudson but still close to the attractions of the area. They gave us some good local travel tips and some ideas for our future travel, knowledge they have picked up from their extensive travels in the US and Canada. They are accomplished bluegrass musicians, a style of music we love, and gave Den free ukulele lessons to accompany our evening singalongs. They were lots of fun and our time with them was too short - we could not have asked for better hosts.
We arrived a day early and stayed an extra night and Mike and Penny took time out of their day to welcome us and our big red dog, Sonny, with open arms. They not only provided us with electric and water at their lovely home site but a whole day of fun which included wine bottling (and sampling!) followed by more wine and pizza, music and songs. You would be lucky to find another couple so warm and welcoming as Mike and Penny. Our stay with them will be one of the highlights of our 3 month snowbird trip. We hope to call them our friends now. Additionally, Mike added to my list of "things I learned in Florida"...lol
We were in a bit of trouble when our truck broke down, but mike n penny really helped us out and were just wonderful hosts! We hope to have a chance to see them again in Canada next summer, you guys rock!
Mikenpenny were wonderful, kind hearted hosts. Our evening full of music was a night to remember and we are so happy to have been able to stay here. Thank you!!
Mike responded in no time. Their spot was just what we needed for the night. We had a chance to share some stories and they were gracious enough to play and sing for us. Music is a big part of their lives. We felt honored to be their first boondocking guests.
